Those balers are designed so that you can slide the forks of your fork lift under the tied up bale and lift it out of the baler and then place on a pallet. Try it, it will save your back !

Mississauga is very real. It was a small town in the 1950's that used to have 7,000 people and back then it was named Port Credit.
My aunts and uncles used to live there & I spent a lot of summers there.
It's on the QEW which is the highway you take from Niagara Falls to go to Hamilton & Toronto.
Now the area has millions of people.
I loved staying there for the summer and miss it since my aunts and uncles are all gone now and my cousins have moved away to elsewhere in Canada and the US.

Rabbit, going forward I would move the location of the wearhouse sales depending on the time of the year. Example Summer & Christmas sale Hold them in the large second half of the wearhouse where you have the carport / Car wash station. You'll need the extra retail space.
Then for smaller sales like this one the normal set up is completely fine. But be proactive and really knock it out of the park for the sales you'll KNOW you have the traffic for.

You probably should invest in some better cameras there, Rabbit. We also have an old tv on the wall so they can see themselves in real time. It also keeps the kids (and some adults) entertained making faces. You never know what you'll see, one particularly busy day one of our regulars was browsing while waiting his turn and stumbled upon a small welding clamp (imagine a large metal clothes pin with a strong spring) and proceeded to try it on his, umm, upper chest region. You've never seen someone jump so high! We haven't let him live it down yet.

Ugh, it's insane to me that people steal like that. Like, i could mayyyybbbbeee see stealing food if I was starving and had absolutely no other choice. But trinkets from a small business is absolutely ridiculous. Even if the cops don't do anything, like you said it was worth it to call to at least warn others.

I had a friend who worked lost prevention at Sportsmart.
He told me that all walks of life will steal, even those with a lot of disposable cash. It becomes an addiction.
Definitely should always call police and report. Rabbit should have a wall of shame.

Marketplace ads have been weird lately. I have around 5 ads for one thing right now, basically identical ads, one has over 3000 views and over 100 messages, the others have under 100 views, no messages. Every now and then ads pop off but more often then not lately, crickets

I don't advertise on FB but I would never do so anyway. As an FB user, I am absolutely slammed with ads from real estate agencies wanting to buy my house, metal roofers trying to sell me a metal roof, walk-in shower and home heating and air ads. And lawn care ads. I live in an apartment building. Which I don't own, to be clear. None of these ads are relevant in any way. So whatever method they are using to target me is absolutely broken and those advertisers are getting ripped off. The only less relevant person than me would be an inmate. I swear to God, I would be wealthy if I had a dollar for every metal roof ad I've seen on FB.

I think you need to work on your customer retention. Start a newsletter, email/mailing list so you can send your sales brochure directly to your customers. The company I worked for would send out reminder service cards and many customers would say "I remembered to call you because of your card".

Maybe offer fewer specialty items that only a certain buyer would want or could use (like maybe all those Home Depot random parts and pieces) and instead sell those items that any general buyer could make use of and be inspired to buy (home goods, kitchen, light decor, cosmetics, food).

    Hey Rabbit/John,
So I have been noticing in the videos, that as you have increased the overall footprint of your special buy items and reduced your footprint of your general merchandise items that you GM sales seemed to be trending down and reducing the volume of customers.
If you had a way to get a bigger sales floor footprint where you could keep your SB volume and get your GM floor space back up to near where it was just before lockdown...it might help.
If you get the GM sales up, the SB sales will trend up too. But my general thought is you need more sales area.

I would do a deep dive into the last 3 sales to see what type of merchandise sells and see if you can figure out a pattern to help sourcing for next sale. It seems like you do well with sheet sets, toys, tools, make-up, and basic clothing like underware...maybe try and find a source for plain t-shirts or pajamas? But an analysis of the data should help. Also, look at trends...for example, people are looking for ways to save money...so not surprising that seeds sold, look for other products that will save people money or give them a cheap treat.

Nest and Ring and Wyze cams are not security cameras. You are trying to protect your valuable assets with glorified toys. Stop. Bite hard and hire somebody to install proper cameras and a way to store and access the video remotely, and get an alarm system if you don't have one. It's expensive but so is merch walking out the door. Cameras will never stop all of it. Some people do not fear getting caught. Others have no understanding of what it even means when the sign says "cameras in use" or worse the skeumorphic picture of a camera on a sign. But it will still help. People assume dollar stores and thrift stores and liquidation stores won't care because the prices are low. So you have to care and make it clear you won't be taken.

Could be completely wrong, but having watched all your sell videos, the merchandise seems to stay roughly the same. The special buy is getting better, and the general merch is staying similar. I'd also say you're having the sales more frequently, and people don't have as much disposable income these days. Once agian, not an expert, just my opinion.

You may find at the end of the day that you need to go back to your more successful sales and see what the differences are. Perhaps people have gotten too wise about the declining prices and are taking a miss on the middle days and then just coming in for the cheapest days. Perhaps it's the mix of stuff. Perhaps you have overflowed the market by a bit... weather, dates... all can contribute. I hate to say it, but you may find it harder to do well near the end of the month and better right after the start of the month based on government payouts as well... you never know what it is that will be the trigger. Compare your sold items now and in the past, compare the mix (food / clothes / toys / others) and you might find the trend that can help you the most.

Technically I’m still a volunteer at the British Red Cross. The shop manager hit me whilst I was listing for eBay. She was a control freak. It’s crazy what people donate. Living in a city, the amount of able bodied parking in disabled, double yellow and white zig zags is crazy. The worst being delivery drivers etc, I reported one at the local grocery store as I commented about his nice parking. Yesterday, there were 2 vans with white male drivers outside McDonald’s eating their food from McDonald’s while parked in a disabled, one after another. They had no yellow badges and clearly able to walk in with no issues. The second driver had his information plastered all over his van. Folly Roofing - named and shamed.

Hey Resale I have some advice for you that you can completely ignore if you do choose because I have not worked in retail since before Covid. However is my experience there are only 2 things that get people to come into shopping locations having something they need, or offering a great deal.
First I would work on making sure you have a good product mix, you have the staple items of your sale but I would also try to get some unique items for every sale, that will expand the potential customer you have.
2nd I would not reuse items from sale to sale, there is no incentive to come if people know they can get it next time.
3rd on special buy items that you have a large quantity of I would be vary aggressive on price, if you have a lot of something and price it at half retail people know it will still be there in later days. If you price it where people are afraid it will sell out it will help drive traffic to your sale. You will loose profit on each item but hopefully make it up in quantity sold.

i'M thinking that your thought of too much (16 pallets of 1,000/pallet) is part of problem. also i see too little of somethings. I THINK SOME FOOD WAS HELD BACK TOO LONG. and every sale i hear you think "this or that" won't sell which often surprises you. here's a problem. if you have a half pallet you expect to sell well and another thing half pallet to do bad. you tend to put "sell well" out one or two days early and "bad seller" a day or two later. but if you put half of both out early you get same sales of "sell wells" while the "won't sell" items get $1-up to $5 more for each IF YOU SELL ITEM (can't sell though if you already refuse to try)
you might remember i went before C-19 on a $10 day. (look like santa, no phone, you/Ben emailed picture to me) back hurt me so didn't return. BUT COME NOON WAS PRETTY PICKED OVER. there's good chance I'd have bought some $8 & even some $5 items @ $10 each since i hadn't "spent my quota" face it, your $5 items are usually worth over $20 so even at twice the price still a bargain. if restocked earlier (as in before i left) i could have bought bought more
DEFINITELY, WEATHER HAS HURT SALES LAST FEW SALES...
but how are you advertizing too??? two weeks before the sale how much fore a 6"x9" card mailing NAMING SOMETHING being held for each days. (so a $50 item on $10 day, $36 item being first out $6 day and blowout bargain being held for $3 day)
ALSO... do you have a mailing list?
these days you can even get them to type in their own email address. (so no postage but also no data entry either) is there some $1.79/gross item you can give away? "print this coupon" free {specific item} to first 100 or 200 customers w/ coupon. (remember, if you have a gross{144} offer 100, only put out 100, and then last 44 thinks you're super guy for "special looking for" an extra one.......

Profit is profit, no matter the size. I'd say from watching your sales the items don't change all that much, many leftovers and while your pricing can be good the market is only so large. It could also be that you tend to bad mouth the customers or the business down the street could be why your sales are not that "Great". In any event I have lost a lot of interest in the videos many are very long and no real schedule anymore. As a business person happy for your success, not mad or frustrated just being honest as a viewer and providing you comments to assist in your youtube business model.
