Newcastle Delaware is a historic colonial village in northern Delaware at the mouth of the Delaware River. This small town is famous as the place of the ratification of the first state of the United States, Delaware. In 1776 Delaware was the first state to state their independence from both England and Pennsylvania.
The village is littered with historic sites and impressive architecture. It is a place of living history with residents living, working, and recreating in buildings that are over 300 years old.
Have a drink or dinner in the historic Jesop's Tavern, take a walk by the impressive park on the Delaware River, walk in the steps of William Penn as this is his historic landing site in the Americas, and marvel at the colonial beauty and historical importance of the courthouse in the center of town.

Twelve years I’ve lived here and I just heard about Historic New Castle (15 mins from me) went last weekend and it was AWESOME!!!
I heard of New Castle but I’ve passed by and gone around it… assuming it was just another run down neighborhood south of Wilmington (and the surrounding area is pretty run down!)

Yes Newcastle Delaware is a place filled with history that not a lof of people know about. It was originally occupied by the Swedes and was part of New Sweden- before it was captured and maintained by the British in the eighteenth century.

      Newcastle upon Tyne England,
I'm a Geordie (Jordy) Newcastle upon Tyne was founded by the Romans and called pons aelius , emperor Hadrian built Hadrian's wall to keep Scots out of Newcastle,
We've also been raided by the Vikings and butch cassidys mam was from Newcastle we have lots of history
We have our own version of English called Geordie (Jordy) which is very similar to Scottish and we use. Many of the same words,
Like bairns (children) aye(yes) and bonnie (attractive). Gannin yem (going home) Plus a lot more,
I know when Britain had it's empire we. Conquered America. So I think that's were America took lots of it's city's names from like

Not to be a downer… but the Delaware River flows from New York - down and out to the Atlantic - other way… 😏
