- A passionate gardener, cancer survivor, author and psychotherapist, Deborah Marqui, LCSW, takes you on a tour of her Healing Gardens at Stone Hill Farm in St. Charles, Ill., and shares how to create a healing garden for your home. A healing garden can be planted in a special area in the yard or it can be contained in a small container for your deck or balcony. At Deborah’s home, each of her gardens has a different theme, and every garden has a story. For Deborah, the stories are lessons learned in her healing journey. I’m working on my own garden as well, by the way I’m in my first year of Marriage and family therapy program at Syracuse University, I always wanted to make an angel garden. So my husband just began last weekend my first greenhouse I’m so excited I waited so long for this treat!

Deborah, I absolutely love your garden. I been working on my property to do a vegetable garden but as time when by i felt the need to find places in our property where i can find peace. Little by little i been creating gardens small gardens where I can breath and think. A place that I feel at peace. I love what you have done it inspires to keep going. I had no idea I was creating healing gardens as I have been forced into retirement due to disability and going blind. My plans were to do much of the same as yo7 have, so now I know. I've been slowly creating a healing / cottage garden the past 2 years but am discouraged as I have new neighbors they have 2 acres and choose to park their campers trucks and off road vehicles next to my fence😬I'm. In zone 8 I'm thinking of planting emerald green arborvitae next to the fence hopefully it will grow and block their ugliness
