Queen Elizabeth II visits Melbourne City Loop, May, 1980

Just over thirty years ago, Queen Elizabeth visited the almost completed Melbourne City Loop. The Queen and Prince Phillip visited what was then named Museum Station on 28 May, 1980, eight months before the City Loop opened.
Also shown in this video is the Queen officially opening the Queen Elizabeth Plaza above Museum Station. The station was later renamed Melbourne Central Station, and the plaza was replaced by the Melbourne Central Shopping Complex.
