I did knife surgery on my Redoubt the other day and my 551-S30V Griptilian this morning. Now both work perfectly. Couldn't get any smoother and zero blade play or lock rock. I feel good after having done both. Now I'm thinking of doing the same to my Mini-Grip. I think I should because that was the very first Benchmade I ever bought and I haven't taken it apart yet. Probably quite dirty inside.
So I have found that it's easier to partially start the pivot spacer and then simply release the pressure by partially closing the blade. The pivot spacer then just slides right in. Now keep in mind that you have metal on metal in the pivot. Of which over time those washers build up a considerable amount of scoring. Also that spring will weaken over time, and it will eventually fail. There actually is a lifespan on those springs. Every time you open and close it you can already hear the scoring in the washers. Next time you might consider lightly hitting the washers, and their slots, with a fine scotch bright pad. Then just a touch of some Nano oil. Lastly it really felt like you were fast fast forwarding through the crucial subject matter and focusing on the less essential aspects.
meanwhile me attempting to unscrew the very first screw you unscrewed... it turns infinitely, tried to black it from the other side to prevent it, no luck there lol
I do use lube, I just sometimes forget to when making a video. Don't know why, it's literally directly in front of the mat. Good catch and thanks for calling me on it. LUBE YOUR KNIVES
That is the hardest part of this whole process. The short answer is taking pressure off the lock, but I’ll record something showing that more clearly and drop it in the upload schedule. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yes, the “spydyhole” version is hollow.
Do you know if the two pieces that hold the liners together are removable?
The two pieces being the two pins? They aren't screwed in or attached, you can just pull them apart. Skip to 3:40 in the video.
