  • I adore my grandchildren and am excited to be able to make delicious, preservative-free, shelf-stable baby foods to help them grow healthy and strong. Freeze-dried fruit and veggie powders are not limited to just baby food. The potential uses for adding delicious whole nutrition to smoothies, cereals, baked goods, and meals are endless.
In this video, I demonstrate how I turn some of my favorite freeze-dried foods into quick meals for my favorite little people. While the focus is on baby food, these freeze-dried powders can be used in a variety of recipes to add flavor, color, and nutrition.

Making popsicles from your healthy powders would be so fun!

This is exactly what I gave as holiday gifts. Even for adults, the powders went into smoothies, yogurt, pancakes …. Some of the packets made their way to the Andes Mountains as gifts.

I don't get around to watching very many videos at the moment, but I'm pregnant with baby number 4 and had to watch this. I was hoping Jonathon would have been in this one. I commented before on how he reminds me of my late dad. Didn't know I missed him so much until I didn't see Jonathon here.
Hope you and your family had a great holiday season. And I hope to catch more videos in the coming year.

I read somewhere that Mylar is actually clear but the silver is added to keep light out. I like to see what is in the bag. Baby food is a great thing!! When I used to buy baby food the fruits were mixed in with apples or pears.

Really great information. Thanks and lots of blessings. Wish I could do this but it's often not appreciated so I don't bother wasting the little energy I have. For all you great ladies I am so glad for your grandbabies as this is awesome. For me I will focus on us old farts lol.

Kylene: I would cook, chop into small pieces and freeze dry organic meat for when the baby gets older. Those freeze dried mixed berries and the blueberries might be a little hard on baby's tummy as they are not used to so much fiber from the seeds. I think I would opt for apples, applesauce, pears, stone fruits or organic bananas to start with. I would be inclined to peel those items for baby food when starting out. Sweet potatoes and green beans might also be added. I would also make cooked spinach to freeze dry. Experts no longer recommend rice as baby's first cereal because of the naturally occurring arsenic . I would be careful with oatmeal as even organic oatmeal has been sprayed with glyphosate. Maybe some finely ground sorghum grain or millet for cereal or finely ground farina. I would fully cook those grains and puree them before freeze drying to make a sort of instant cereal for baby. Freeze drying organic pasteurized whole milk for baby when they get older would be a great addition to any diaper bag. The inquisitive farm wife, makes yogurt drops flavored with a small amount of jam in the freeze dryer for her granddaughter as a treat for toddlers. Also don't forget to freeze dry some of mother's milk, just be sure to lower the temperature on the drying cycle of the freeze dryer to preserve all the natural bacteria and vitamins. Hospitals and nurses groups have been doing this for a while to support premature babies.

What a fabulous video , especially for young parents! I love how you show each step of the process so that parents can copy what you are doing. Not sure if you would want to, but you might consider adding a little stevia (natural sugar) to the tart berries......I do that for the recent frozen orange juice I've been purchasing, as it's not as sweet as I like. Thanks for a wonderful year, and Happy New Year!

Loved the video! One thing I have done with the berries: after powdering, pour into a mesh strainer and shake it gently to sift out the seeds. Works like a charm.

Great idea! And that baby!!! 😍❤️❤️❤️ beautiful! Absolutely beautiful! And lucky to have a grandma who will do this ❤️! I love seeing you in the kitchen (and the garden 😁) it’s obviously your “natural habitat “ 😜. (I saw your freeze dried triple berries and it reminded me of a recipe for “healthy breakfast “. It’s uncooked old fashioned oats, triple berries, and pomegranate juice. Soak overnight in the fridge. Top with crushed walnuts and fresh apples or bananas. Absolutely delicious! Super healthy! And I think it would work fabulously with your freeze dried berries and even the apples and bananas! You could make a substitute for the pomegranate juice from berry powder!!!! Apple or grape??? Maybe it’s possible to make freeze dried pomegranate??? I wonder if it could become a food storage super food 😍. I GOTTA talk my hubby into a freeze dryer 😉

    New to your channel.
I've done freeze dried powders for soup and baby food.
I want to take fruit powders and mix into yogurt drops/wafers, then freeze dry those into little healthy snacks for baby and kids. I could probably hide a little bit of green leafy powder in them too.
I like your little pouch idea. Baby is 9mos now, so moving onto grabble foods (freeze dried or otherwise) baby can feed to herself.

What a great idea! I'm thinking I can do the same thing but in my dehydrator, right?? Also, once put into the mylar bags, how long do you think they will last? I know it will lose nutrients with time but want to make sure I have food for my baby when she arrives. Would love your feedback and wish. Thank you!

I remembered this video and now we have a new baby, is it possible to make these just by simply dehydrating? I know the nutritional value will go down but with everything going on now, it might be worth stashing some away for when my baby is old enough in a few months.

With baby lead weaning growing in popularity, canning makes the perfect soft foods. Choose to cut veggies into strips for babies to handle more easily. For mashed foods, we just use a garlic press to get a small amount of something we're eating. It's easier to use than mashing with a fork or a specific baby food masher. It worked wonderfully. We never blended a thing for my kids and most of our friends are in the same boat.
