  • Springfield-Branson National Airport (SGF) is a medium-sized, multi-use airport located just northwest of Springfield, Missouri. It has its own Class Charlie airspace and pilots inbound to the airport need to ensure a complete and thorough understanding of the rules and requirements for operating in this airspace. The traffic mix is diverse and includes primary trainers up through air carriers and military aircraft. This assortment of pilot experience and aircraft capability makes Springfield-Branson National an interesting place to fly.
0:58 - The configuration consists of two intersecting runways labeled 2-20 and 14-32. There are full-length parallel taxiways on both sides of both runways and as a result, there is a risk of wrong surface landing.
2:03 - Hot spot #1 is located on taxiway Uniform near the approach end of Runway 20. It is unique in the fact that it is transitory. When large cargo aircraft are parked on the cargo ramp adjacent to taxiway Uniform, their tail structures can block the tower's view of that area of the airport.
2:58 - Hot spot #2 is at the intersection of taxiways November and Delta, very close to both runways. Aircraft taxiing from the northeast ramp areas and cleared “Runway 32, taxi via November, Delta…” have missed the turn onto Delta and found themselves on Runway 14-32 sooner than expected. The same situation also occurs in reverse.
The FAA's From the Flight Deck video series uses aircraft-mounted cameras to capture runway and taxiway footage and combines them with diagrams and visual graphics to clearly identify hot spots and other safety-sensitive items. Learn more at www.faa.gov/Fr....

This was a great intro for KSGF. Videos like this really helps fill in the gaps for pilots new to the airport. The controllers here have been top-notch!

Watched a runway incursion back in 2018 from the flight school ramp at the old terminal. It a good airport and with great controllers!
