The DECA has half the capacity of the DE10 Nano (50K LEs vs 110K LEs), comparable to the Analogue Pocket. So not everything is going to run on it.

Yeah. Even given price increases over the past couple of years, the DE10-nano is still cheap for the FPGA it contains. Unless a competing FPGA manufacturer starts seriously undercutting Intel/Altera, there isn't going to be an equivalent alternative any time soon. Not to say that porting the MiSTer project to other hardware isn't worth considering, but I don't think it's going to be worth the effort just to try to make it cheaper.

It isn't about the LEs it's about how the elements are setupand how the LUTs are setup you can't always rely on LEs as a metric because that isn't the only design constraint(which with the DECA Arrow is memory, I created a memory addon module for my unit). The MAX10 are designed for instant on so you will use LESS logic elements based on the routing(typically used to quickly push designs onto a CYC10 or Stratix FPGA. I ported a lot of the cores for my own personal use and I also created a SNES\NES\GBA replication years ago on my xilinix arty7.

The DECA is a development board for the Max10 FPGA, fitted with a 55k LE part (I.E. about half the logic capacity of the Cyclone 5 SoC used in the DE10 Nano) - the Cyclone 5 SoC also has a dual core ARM9, which is not present on the Max, hence the addon board with a processor on it. The D1 uses a single RISC-V core clocked at 1GHz. I would ballpark the overall performance at about 50% of the DE10 Nano, so it's likely there will be a significant number of cores that simply won't fit.

And the Max10 paired with a Risc-V make quite an odd combinaison.
That is my main grief with the mister project, targeting only one Soc with a specific board. The mister framework need more targets.
He will get through all the trouble to reimplement the CPU-FPGA interface ( FPGA Flash, I/O, post processing ) on an homemade solution ?
Don't get me wrong, it will be quite a feat, but i don't think it will be a viable solution.
Beside the Max10 is quite old, and it's only advantage it's to self configure when power up to mimic a CPLD .
Why not target an AMD-Xilinx Zynq7020, it is similar to the cyclone V and board can be dirt cheap ( and importing VHDL/verilog core into and other framework is not the most difficult part). Or if you really want to torture yourself you can hook up an Rpi-like to lattice 45KLE (>100$) will do the same job but more affordable and easy to source.

The Saturn Controller Adapter for GameCube would be great for SNK vs Capcom 2 EO & Soul Calibur 2.

Also, a modded Wii with Gamecube controller ports. A Saturn controller would be excellent. I have adapters that let me use SNES controllers.

Are there actually any FPGA alternatives that are more powerful than the DE10-Nano and similar in price? I'm all for more powerful alternatives, but I was under the impression the DE10-Nano is used because it's being heavily subsidized and the other higher end FPGA's are prohibitively expensive.

Found out randomly on my feed, wonderful little update. I had no idea about the GDEMU and 3DS Consolizer. The Sanni Cart is cool too, didnt know I could get an all in one. Thanks for the news! Subbed, Ill be watching every update!

Yeah, the Sanni reader is a neat project, by default the v5 will do NES, Famicom, SNES/SFC, n64, Master System, Genesis/MegaDrive, GB, GBC, and GBA, but it can do even more systems with some adapters, and it is a fairly achievable beginner soldering project, everything is through hole (unless you want to assemble an optional add-on pcb that replaces the 3v/5v switch with a chip that automatically selects the appropriate voltage)

pcbway does not support altium circuit maker gerber files directly, they require some nonstandard options in the menus

Hope the mister thing is something good.
Still haven't got a duel ram board.
I can keep ordering stuff and keep upgrading.
I plan on upgrading for full benefit of PlayStation and Saturn, duel ram cores.

funny since the IDE was an official part of the ps2, you could use this ribbon for the IDE mod to just have the offcial socom 2 dlc for no reason lmao. OH but if you have a HDloader disc from back in the day this should work with that too so you could play backups without even a soft mod

  • @yeolemillinial8295
    @yeolemillinial8295 Рік тому

how would that even work with the 3ds, would you have to softmod a tablet to work as the touch screen, essentially making the console kinda like a wii u?

@@MichaelM28Hey Michael! Fortunately i can help answer your question because i searched out and purchased one a couple of years ago. It's a 700012 model (the only ps2 slim with an extra digit in its model number i believe) and i think it's an ntsc only model (North American confirmed but unsure about Japan).

Hi, thanks for covering MiSTeX. There is already some progress using a QMTech Cyclone V board: ua-cam.com/video/7nHNf_1etWI/v-deo.html
