This is the closest I've seen anyone do the steps and counts the way we swingout in Southern Louisiana. This is also one of the easier videos to follow to build a good foundation.
This is just one of the patterns. There are many. There are shuffles on 7 & 8, and also 7 up with no shuffles with a left basic. It goes on from there. In place basic, right turn, step up with a cross, swaying in place basic, straight basic, and etc. This is one pattern out of 100's.
From: Streamline Your Business Inc. Constructively, when teaching, stay on point . You may confuse new comers by telling them what's coming in another video or "start doing it now if you want to ". "K.I.S." Keep it Simple. And from a video perspective, minimize clutter in your area so as not to be a distraction. Remove the basket and the little bed away from the screen shot. Put on some clothes. You look like you are about to show work out tips. Turn up! People are visual, a causal pair of jeans or leggings garners more viewers than someone in jogging pants. Finally as I recommend to all illustrations of line dance, stepping etc. position your body the way the viewer sees you; turn around not facing the camera so that the perspective of the person watching your video will have the same perspective and not reversed. Hope this helps
When leading, you want to start on your right foot. Now mind you, I'm just learning how to step. I kinda taught myself or am teaching myself through watching youtube vidoes, so I'm a work in progress.
I got to look that one up. I only saw one instructor do a right start basic but that I have to research it. Basically, learn how to do it with your left foot which takes a year to years to do it properly and then the right.
Hello you are doing really well ..l believe you pick up fast..l am Sharon Frisby and l have made some videos over t the e Pandemic.. l did not count out the steps.but it ccx will show foot woork.. If you have any questions just leave a comment on one of them..
ABSOLUTELY! I just sent her an reply regarding that. I don't know why people face the camera when it is MUCH easier if they simply turn around so everyone can see from the actual viewpoint instead of reverse. ........ What' U riding?
First video to explain it clearly for absolute beginner, thank you.

I appreciate this video so much. Now I got it. Thank you
Thank you! I will try this!
The right foot is always on the one. If you get lost just make sure your right foot is always on the one.
I just started stepping class (over 60, with bad knees) , love these beginners videos 😊

Thank you. Plain Simple, Easy to follow.
Ok so my question is can you show us the sway? Like the body movement to be able to do the count better if that makes sense. Please and thank you.
I think they sway or "swag" comes with your own particular style. What is being shown in this video are the basic steps.
This track is fast becoming a Chicago Steppers favorite. Check it out:
