      Hey Caleb.
      Am also a film maker. Great work I have to say 😊
      Question, how long did it take you to film everything?

    • @calebreesepaul
      @calebreesepaul 20 днів тому +11

      @@Wala_b.photography Thanks! I wrote the script for about 9 months, and we had about 2 weeks of prep for a 6 day shoot. Then we were in post-production for 3 months to edit/mix/color grade/etc.

    This was amazing! It had my attention from the first moment you jumped into the lake. I've done the same thing, cold lakes can be bracing and I'd occasionally jump in to clear my head. Her pelting you with gravel was brilliant! "Move or get hit!". love that! I look forward to seeing and hearing more from you.

    What a lovely short film, beautifully shot and acted, love the story. When I write my stories, short or novels, I always see them as small films and this is the kind of film I like to see, well done.

    Caleb, this is brilliant! The vintage technologies - VHS tapes, etc. - were a sweet touch. Great film. Thank you! ❤
    P.S. The video description is one of the best that I have read on this channel. 👍👍

    fantastic film! This short film has so much subtelty and atmosphere without any hint of being "invented" .. it's totally natural and yet leaves something to the imagination as it should. In short it is brilliant! I loved it and also the music really helped to create the atmosphere....👍👁🎥 Bravo!! Sensational....

      A shoutout is in order to our amazing composer, Dean McGinnes! Dean and I started with a spotting session and temps. I told him what I wanted, and we worked for about 3-4 weeks on the score. I'm very happy with the score. You can stream it on Spotify if you want hear just the music!

      Thanks for watching!! As well as being a proof-of-concept for a feature, I designed this film to be a sort of "choose-your-own adventure" for viewers - so each audience member can take away something different philosophically from the ending of the film. Sarah, after learning about the machine, can't help but want to go back into the memory of her friend's death. In doing this, she tries to change it, causing the memory to leak over into the real world, malfunctioning the machine, and thrusting her and Warren into his most hidden memory: his dad's death. At the end, Warren's memories go up in flames, and she throws the tape of her memory into the fire.
      Some of that is my interpretation! Everyone will take something different away from the ending sequence, so no one way is "correct." There are some hints subtly dispersed throughout the film to support a certain storyline (i.e. the photo of his dad giving him the camcorder as a gift is labeled "last photo" and is burned at the edges from fire, and Warren's tape recording of that memory has a scratched off label, flashing on screen when he's underwater) - so I highly recommend giving it another watch or two if you'd like! Most people will get a lot more out of it the 2nd or third time around - I tried to have high rewatch value to reward those who were interested!
