AsapSCIENCE There is black, green, white, red, yellow and oolong tea. You can't really put them in one bag when talking about their influence on health. And from what I can see you are drinking worst quality tea - from express bag, with grade "dust". Go experiment some more, they is really some awesome tea out there! :D Also when you really need kick there is a better option than coffee - yerba mate. The downside is - it tastes much worse than freshly grinded, well made coffee. But that's just mine opinion :)
Jonathon Dunn Just be frugal with your sugar and creamer and you should be fine Most people however do load up with creamer and sugar. I personally only do a spoonful of sugar and creamer Unless it is light or medium roast, then I can take it black lol
chindvids In the UK, only about 30% of people put sugar in their tea. This percentage is even less in asia (the place with the most tea drinkers) as asians mostly drink loose leaf brews (especially in China).
They're both pretty good. But I personally prefer tea. I like them without the sugar. And apparently if you drink your coffee black you're more likely to be a psychopath. I don't know how well done that study was though.
OK, a couple of things to note here; 1) Tea and Coffee actually have similar amounts of caffiene (providing you drink black tea or green tea) but because of the other chemical compounds in tea the caffeine is slow-releasing throughout the day. 2) I think the stress levels are purely contextual - tea is stereotypically a 'calming' drink (connotations with meditation etc) and therefore people who have high stress levels are more likely to drink it in order to lower stress levels - it is not caused by the tea. I personally drink both depending on my mood or what I have to do that day.
Tea leaves have more caffeine than coffee grounds by weight, but tea infusions typically have less caffeine than coffee infusions by far - that's black, oolong, and green tea. You're right about the slower release on top of that. Tea also contains theanine, which has complex effects, but decreases many of the negative side effects of caffeine, increasing feelings of calmness whilst in some ways stimulating you. I think the alertness levels of coffee and tea drinkers are actually similar, interestingly enough.
Tea is not a "stereotypically" calming drink. It has L-Theanine. It alters the way caffeine functions and provides a state of "calm alertness" instead of the jittery hyped up energy coffee provides.
TEA FOR THE WINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!! c'mon guys! it helps soothe the digestive system. for example: Herbal teas, in particular chamomile, can be good for people with irritable bowel syndrome and ginger teas can calm nausea. FAKTZ
No, it's not really "cute". They aren't even acting like homosexuals. They're acting like friends do. You may think the thought of homosexuality is cute but it's biologically unnaturally.
+Anon Jay "they aren't even acting like homosexuals" wth does that mean? Does people with a different sexuality act a certain way, or is that you just being judgemental? Something to cosider. And the biological thing you said, wrong, I suggest you do some research before you blindly type out arrogant guesses into the comments like that.
I drink coffee in the morning and maybe in the late afternoon or evening, but drink tea throughout the day (green, black, peppermint, kombucha, etc.) instead of soft drinks.
+Nikos Merzanis caffeine actually doesn't work on me very well. I drink coffee and tea simply because I like the taste, not to keep me awake. tea actually makes me sleepy for some reason, it's weird
Aliyatopia Wow, I have read somewhere that on some people, particularly people with ADD or ADHD but also a few lucky ones coffee affects them differently. It actually doesn't bind with the adenosine receptors and simply hydrates and then rapidly dehydrates them, hence the tiredness. Or if you put too much sugar in your coffee the sugar crash actually overcomes the effects of the coffee if you have a tolerance.
+Nikos Merzanis I never tested for ADHD but that could be a possibility, but for some reason, coffee doesn't make me tired. I'm guessing its the placebo effect, I expect it to keep me up so it does.
as a tea drinker, hot chocolate or milk (chocolate or just plain white milk) would be my alternatives, tea, hot chocolate, and milk always calm me down I dont know why
I was researching tea, however EVERY SINGLE STUDY I found only studied people who drank bagged tea and no real whole leaf loose tea. Which there IS a significant difference here. So I am rather disappointed we have not a single meta analysis on whole tea leaf.
and brewing it gongfu style. especially because when brewed properly from whole leaf green tea has more caffeine than black tea(due to not being oxidized) yet every study looking at bagged tea says otherwise.
+Gex9z No, they are not ground or mulched, they're left over. No one in their right mind would grind tea like them unless to make matcha which is a completely different animal.
+DionLaurent1 *whispers; don't do that to coffee, you could injure yourself.* And on another note; TEA, TEA, TEA! I don't care what type, I don't care if it's sweet and cold, or has milk in it and piping hot, or plain. I'll take tea any day over coffee. FORGET THE COFFEE!
The feeling is mutual. I'm a coffee person and I tried teas before, even some of the 'really great teas' according to my tea-loving sister, but some tastes like it's just hot water with a taste of herbs but MOSTLY just hot water. It gets bearable with the milk. I'm trying to get myself into tea to get away from my dependence on coffee, plus coffee is starting to taste not that good for me. Tea without milk still... I don't like it. Always drink my tea with milk.
There's a difference between chai and tea. Chai, (Indian tea) a better tasting version of regular tea is tea with milk and high levels of sugar, it's mostly unhealthy. Tea is tea leaves with boiling water and nothing else (sugar and milk will turn in it into chai) it's healthier and more effective but these days most people drink chai and it really is unhealthy because of its high levels of sugar
NotATroll if you go to a café outside India tea and chai are served as two different drinks even though they mean the same thing. its because the way Indian people make their tea is with spices, lots of milk, and lots of sugar. while the way the way tea is normally made is with boiling water with tea leaves in it. Just because two things mean the same doesn't mean they are.
TEA Lavender, Earl Grey, English Breakfast, Pomegranate Oolong, and Green Tea are typically my go-to's. Although I usually have either an Earl Grey or English Breakfast in the morning!

BamaFanEdge Wow that's crazy! I mean I like my tea sweet but that sounds like instant tooth decay! Maybe I'll start going with unsweet and adding the sugar myself.
RyanRay My sister-in-law from Virginia warned me about sweet tea, especially because she knew I take my tea without sweetener most of the time (ex-husband had diabetes so I developed a taste for plain tea.) I have always considered myself to be a big tea fanatic! With that being said things changed a bit when I started working for starbucks in 2013. I had unknowingly thrust myself into coffee culture where I had to know coffee origin, roasts, bean processing and flavor profiles to tell to customers. Every week, starbucks employees get a pound of coffee to "mark out" and take home for personal enjoyment and I found myself taking different coffees home to try. It has been 3 long years but I now find myself drinking both depending on my mood or the day/caffeine necessity. With that being said, this video made me crave tea and I immediately went to the kitchen and brewed some Jade Citrus Mint from teavana (Mitchell I highly recommend it if you like minty green tea!) I guess in the end, old habits die hard and tea has my heart ;-)
Most people heat water and then steep the tea in their cup every time the want some. It's mostly just Americans who make tea in bulk like that, though it is still fairly common in Europe.
Monique Pihl Coffee makes you more tired over time because it's it replaces adenosine and thereby force your body to make more adenosine receptors which make you both need more coffee and make even more tired while not drinking it.
I find it interesting that there are people out there who presuppose I know nothing about coffee or tea. My preference for tea or coffee has nothing to do with the properties of those drinks and how they affect my body. If you bothered to ask, the reason I enjoy coffee more than tea is because I find the flavour of coffee and the smell of coffee to be particularly appealing. But you didn't bother. Because you be lame :P

Caffiene: 47 vs 95 mg in an 8 oz cup, you can't say caffiene levels are similar.
Tea is not a "stereotypically" calming drink. It has L-Theanine. It alters the way caffeine functions and provides a state of "calm alertness" instead of the jittery hyped up energy coffee provides.

This is pointless. Hot chocolate is the superior beverage.
Tea and coffee are essentially flavoured water. Hot chocolate is sugar-calorie soup. Not something I'd drink 2+ cups per day of.
Depending on how much sugar and cream you put in Coffee can be more unhealthy than hot chocolate.
True, but if you make hot chocolate properly, with milk, then it's pretty caloric. Of course sugar-with-coffee is also going to be unhealthy too.
Obviously
yes.

Its hard to really argue these because coffee is a kind of tea and tea has so many types.
Coffee makes me super sleepy. My dad drinks it to sleep too
Kinda true considering it tightens nerves, hence reducing amount of blood flow
Tea is definitely more refreshing though.

Most people heat water and then steep the tea in their cup every time the want some. It's mostly just Americans who make tea in bulk like that, though it is still fairly common in Europe.

I love both tea and coffee, but coffee is definitely my favorite.
I drink both and I don't know which I like better lol
Monique Pihl Coffee makes you more tired over time because it's it replaces adenosine and thereby force your body to make more adenosine receptors which make you both need more coffee and make even more tired while not drinking it.
Bryan Adams Thats what i said in a main comment hahaha
+Dr. Evil (Hjalte Hørsdal) in other words it's like a drug
I’m with the Tea guy, more creative comes with Tea while coffee arise the presence of anxiety depending on the mood stability.
