What an enlighting essay ... so in budhism one does not wish for all beings to be happy ... which I was tought
Since happiness comes forth from attachment and in the end leads to suffering since all things come to an end.
Will listen to rest of essays now ... Im suffering a lot lately and wish it to end ... I sort of know the cause of my suffering but its so hard to let go ... so Ive ran away mostly, I try to confront it now in my mind and convince myself this is the cause of my suffering.

Yes buddhism is truly the only religion where we care about everyone's suffering. Which is why everyone is encouraged to understand Dukhha and overcome it

Things just arise and pass yes but asserting the poor translation of dukkha = suffering, and that all is suffering kinda misses the point, makes a big thing of suffering, even creates suffering in the listener. All is dukkha = stuff happening, tanha is the clinging to this that creates more clinging. It's the recursive function of the mind's verbalised alert system. Watch dukkha arise. Accept it any tanha and move the hell on. It won't have power over you.

Kevin Davis You can check out Thanissaro bhikku and his website dhammatalks.org
There you can read the pali cannon for yourself to see what the buddha actually said. Its been most helpful in my studies of buddhism. And yes i know this is a late comment but felt lead to reply anyway

Its a shame these teachings are read so poorly. The tone of voice is patronising yet flippant and with no feeling for the words spoken. The piece is spoken with a weird vocal pattern, short sections repeating a strange sing song quality. It would have been better if narrated just normally. I switched to subtitles, not to diminish the wisdom of AC.

      Then you're bound to suffer.
