    NB is no longer the province with the most “affordable” homes. Higher taxes in NB along with higher prices for energy and food combined with not so good wages was never the utopia of cheap houses being touted. No lack of people here living in poverty that own a house. Poverty due to costs of necessities is prevalent here and most new comers from other provinces that cashed in on pricey homes that now live here are pretty much oblivious to it and don’t care that many that could have afforded a home in NB, are now priced out of the market and either have to leave the province or have to rent realizing their proportion of renter household income spent on rent and utilities is much higher here than some equivalent size places in BC and Ontario where there are better jobs with higher pay.
    Those forests are basically tree farms that are heavily sprayed.
    There is a reason why this province only had a net migration rate of half of one percent last year and has the one of the lowest retention rates for newcomers. Also the hardest place to retain youth and youth in the workplace.

    $66,000. a monthly income for folks in Edmonston! ! Wow! I think not 😂. I’m retired and moved here about 11 years ago and prices for property where unbelievable, however since Covid-19 they’ve increased substantially. While there still below property prices elsewhere in Canada, there high for many residents, because of low incomes . A huge number of residents don’t have a doctor and the hospital’s are understaffed and in general they will have you waiting for hours to be seen. I’ve heard that many people have waited 12 hours to see a doctor. The government’s are responsible for the abysmal hospital crisis and as yet have done little to alleviate the problems. One last thing, the Irving’s run the government’s and so run the province, much like their own oligarchy.

    Housing and apartment rentals in NB , especially Moncton, Saint John and Fredericton areas have doubled or more since they use the covid excuse, it is not so great to move to NB now with the insane prices being asked. Also Dieppe and Riverview are pretty much part of Moncton. Two smaller places should have made this list as well Grand Falls and Campbellton, are very nice small towns with wonderful scenery.

      Fredericton is the capital of New Brunswick. She said Miramichi wrong Fredericton is a beautiful city with many walking trails and the Bill Thorpe walking bridge. Fredericton also has the University of New Brunswick UNB. Many people goes boating, kayaking on the Nashwaak River and the Saint John River. Fishing for smallmouth bass, chain pickerel, musky, sturgeon. Above the Mactaqauc dam has smallmouth and largemouth bass and musky. Many camping area like the Mactaqauc park. St Andrew and St Stephen in the south of the province. Grandmanan Island off the southern New Brunswick in the Bay Of Fundy Prince Edward Island off the eastern coast of New Brunswick. The reversing falls in Saint John. There are a few more islands just northwest of Grandmanan Island

    I was born in NB and moved away when I was a kid. About 6 years ago I moved back to be closer to aging family. I am still on a waiting list for a doctor. The walk in clinics are closed from covid so you have to auto dial for 3 days to try and get an appointment. If you are lucky enough to get through they won't even make an appointment for most issues and refer you to the website to get on waiting list or send you to the hospital. They also won't write a new prescription so you have to go to hospital and wait a minimum of 4 hrs to see a doctor. I have what would be a good paying job anywhere else in Canada (construction foreman) but the pay is crap here. I regret moving to NB every day.

    NB WAS affordable however with company's coming from outside of new Brunswick and buying property and renting it out our rent is extremely high with little no good jobs and low minimum wage with high tax rate. Not to mention cheese is like 7,99 not on sale now so just the price of food is 300$ every 2 weeks for a family of 2. If you're looking for a province that has only scenery and old folks community's to offer with the only place having something worthy of tourism in Moncton I suggest picking a different province. We also have the worst health care in Canada for mental health and sexual health. Our family doctors aren't looking for patients and only a few of the hospitals in the province has higher end equipment. Most people have to travel to Moncton or Fredericton to seek proper medical aid.

      Price gouging is common in NB due to lack of competition and companies are very good here a fooling the masses - perceptions of value are distorted.
      I was vacationing in BC and was surprised to see most groceries were 30 to 40 percent less than in NB.- 4 litre milk in BC ranges from 4.90 to 5.19 and in NB almost 8 dollars! You can buy PEI potatoes for less in BC and most produce from Europe and South America is cheaper in BC than that of NB. Heck I bought NB sardines cheaper in BC. We pretty much bought all the same things we do while in BC for a month that we do in NB and we spent about 550 whereas in NB we spend about 740 a month. We make most of our meals from scratch.
      While vacationing in BC, I popped into a walk in clinic and on demand got two moles removed from my arm at the clinic; no appointment required. Unheard of in NB. Plus got lab work done the same day and results the next day without having to see or speak to a doctor; and it didn't cost me anything. Just gave them the address we are staying at and showed them my NB medicare card. My wife and I have already secured two family doctors; we are doing this because our commitments in NB will soon be over and will be moving to BC. Mind you we will have to travel half an hour to see our doctors and are in two different locations. My wife also got an appointment booked for a bone density test for next month, which she has been waiting for in NB for over ten months now. I also got a tooth repaired without an appointment at a local dental place in a mall. As seniors, we almost broke into tears with joy having so much easier access to healthcare.

    This video is very urban-centric. Cities are not always the best places to live, regardless of province. New Brunswick is a beautiful province with mountains, rivers, oceanfront, wildlife and great people. You will find the smaller rural towns equally enjoyable and in many instances much better places to live. Except for Edmundston, this video almost completely ignores Western New Brunswick and it is stunning in beauty. If you want to move to New Brunswick, consider the rural towns along the St. John River. You will not be disappointed.

    , I've lived and worked in the USA and parts of Canada but my home has been nb for 50 years, if you want to pay ridiculous taxes and have no health care and be dictated, have no protection from the heards of drugged up meth heads and a education system that is a disaster, where you need to purchase a permit for every little thing you do on your own property, you can't get a good paying job unless you speak French, this is the place🙄

      Well I speak French and I can honestly say we are paid the same thing as everyone else unless maybe if you are a lawyer or something with high degrees but in my case it's pretty close to minimum wage. And you are right for the rest health care is crazy hard time to get the help you need buying a house forget it unless you got a very good paying job cause no way that someone on small salary can afford a car and a house and here we do need a car for traveling cause no Metro or buses so forget about the house and freeze in your car during winter cause rent is also ridiculous

    As a life long resident of New Brunswick, your overall description was decent, however the pronunciation of some of the place names was nothing short of atrocious. And as far as the best places to live, NB has many smaller towns and villages that, in my opinion, have many opportunities and benefits for residents that are not found in the communities you mentioned. Hope Grand Falls would have been in those cities, which was the most bilingual city in Canada a few years ago at 89% population being bilingual. St-Stephen & St-Andrews are very beautiful cities as well. I think the narrator of this you tube Channel needs to study New Brunswick some more as Fredericton being the capital city is the place where rent is costing the most and houses are also expensive. The narrator is probably friend of our prime minister and wants the capital city to attract more population. By the way the people living in Riverview do not sit by the water, ie beach and swim and catch their catch of the day, 😂, sitting beside the Petitcodiac, anyone fishing in the Petitcodiac… fish in the Petitcodiac if there are any, need swimming eyeglasses to protect their eyes from the mud…. 😮

We also had man6 call centres NB started call centres as we have the most advanced fiber optics and the first telephone company in the world was in Saint John but govt s3nt many call centres to Asia. Saint John is mainly Irish, English, Scottish and we only have 4% fr3nch now as they left to bigger cities for better jobs. @Littleone124 Рік тому +4

      Some people are just negative. Housing prices have gone up to what they were before covid, but they are still cheaper than the rest of Canada. Housing prices have increased across the entire country. Hospital services can be hit or miss, but again this is Canada wide. If you are in need of life threatening care, 99% of the time you will be seen right away. If you use the emergency department as a walk in clinic or are there for something that is not life threatening, you will wait. They need to see the most urgent cases first. Taxes are not as bad as some people make it out to be. NB isn't perfect but you won't find any place that is. It is still a good place to raise a family 😊

    • @rps1689
      @rps1689 Рік тому

      Taxes are high here and so are utilities and groceries. Access to primary health care is bad here and walk-in-clinics are few and far between and do not do the procedures and treatments we see done in some other provinces. In some places like the capital city they are almost impossible to access the same day, as they don't allow walk-ins and getting through to them on the phone can take hours, and if your lucky that someone answers, you still can't make an appointment for the next day let alone get in the day you called.
      What I have found talking to many younger folk here on a daily basis over the two years, is many youth can't move away because they feel trapped by unwanted commitments or just can't afford to live in the nicer places that cost more to rent or purchase like that of Moncton and Fredericton not to mention other nicer places in other provinces. Many young people are still leaving NB especially those priced out of the market that have become renters especially those that have realized their proportion of renter household income spent on rent and utilities is much higher here than some equivalent size places in BC and Ontario where there are better jobs with higher pay.

    • @rps1689
      @rps1689 Рік тому

      My wife and I vacationed for a month in BC six months ago. I popped into a walk in clinic and on demand got two moles removed from my arm, and one from my face at the clinic; no appointment required; just walk in. Unheard of in NB. Plus got lab work without an appointment done the same day and results the next day without having to see or speak to a doctor; and it didn't cost me anything. This is easy to do because there are so many labs outside to the hospitals were you can set up an account and view your results online within 48 hours. Just gave them the address we are staying at and showed them my non BC medicare card. My wife and I have already secured family doctors each; we are doing this because our commitments here in NB will soon be over and will be moving to BC. Mind you we will have to travel half an hour to see our doctors and are in two different locations. As seniors, we almost broke into tears with joy having so much easier access to healthcare in BC.
      BC with al it faults, still has a superior health care system than that of NB. Three year waiting list for my wife to see a specialist in NB, but she got to see the specialist in two years; in BC the wait was 6 months and they apologized to her. It took us two years just to get a Nurse Practitioner in NB, and that was because she pulled strings. Our poor neighbour went to his family doctor many times for over one year with symptoms of pain in his lower back, no appetite, and being weak a lot; they just brushed him off; the only test they did was a stress test. He learned he had cancer two weeks before he died a painful death, but he had the cancer for at least 8 months.
