I live in Canada but go to Buffalo NY for most medical care. I went to my retinal doctor with a modest symptom at 9:00AM He told me I had a retinal detatchment wanted to operate 11:30 same day. Because I had breakfast the anesthesia folks wouldn't do it so he arranged for emergency surgery in Rochester ny about an hour away. My gas bubble diminished at 2 wks and is almost gone now at 4 wks. No discomfort or complications. In Canada I don't have an eye doctor that will answer the phone let alone arrange surgery. My family doctor doesn't answer or take messages. I have been in the office numerous times and watched the staff routinely ignore the phone even when they aren't busy. They just can't be bothered. I just pay for care it's typically not terribly expensive.
I am so glad to hear this. Yes, me and many folks I met at Facebook groups feel like Canadian doctors are just doing us favours. My retina specialist is the head of Sunnybrook and his response is facial expressions. I am hoping your vision is back to 100% Mine is pretty much legally blind. After five surgeries over 2 year span.
How are you now brother. My husband had similar surgery just 4 days before and he’s under medication. Continuing with drops . Hope by gods all will be completely cured and get back the vision . You too take care bro .

I had done both eyes Cataract Surgery in 2012. I was in mid-30's at the time. The cataract surgery after RD is common. It is quick 10 minutes and no pain or recovery time. It is easy. My eyesight on the RD eye is not good. Too many surgeries. But I am thankful I have some eyesight. The eye pressure is controlled by using two kinds of drops. I cannot read or write out of this eye. That's why it is extremely important to completely heal first. Say 6-8 weeks after Vitrectomy, I would not even drive or even go for short walks. 3 months minimum.
@@realtorroshan thanks for the prompt response. Cataract in mid 30s? That sounds rare. Was a refractive cataract surgery? Yeh I hear patience is key, the longer you initially let it heal the better.
@@QaiserAlyas yes 👍 I did not go with 20/20 correction lens because then I would need reading glasses. I did -0.75 which means I did not need to wear glasses for everyday life expect during nights or movies I wear the corrective glasses. Before that my left eye was -12 and right -6 The eye that detached was -12 hence eye elongated and retina stretched and tears holes 🕳 etc. ultimately detachment.
My mother was also diagnosed with a retinal detachment. So I hope to do surgery for my mother. (Doctor recommend oil surgery) So I want to know about, 1) situation after the surgery. 2) Is she get her previous vision the same? 3) Any side effects from the surgery? 4) What special things should I be concerned about in this surgery?
Main thing is rest and healing. With oil, you do not have to do a lot of facedown. May be lay down on one side. However, facedown is important. Of course, your doctor will tell you. 1. Situation after surgery is pain in the eye. It will become very red and bloody. Even bruises under the eye. Then stitches in eye ball will bother her for a few days. You will use all the drops. It will take 1-2 days and with oil she can see again. But the eye sights will be very wavvy. Pinched. Not perfect. With oil after few months she has to take oil out. The eye pressure is something to watch for. After few months they remove oil and put short lasting gas. There is a chance retina can detach again. So, please rest and take care now. 2. Vision can be back to normal. In my case, I had 5 surgeries. My vision is not good. I can see but I cannot read or write. Every case is different. 3. Side effects is loss of vision. Eye pressure and glaucoma. 4. Special things no Lifting any thing more than 5 lbs. For 6 weeks no exercise not even walk. There is a chance of detachment again. Eat soft food. Lots of water. Eat healthy. I am praying for your months. If you need more information find me on Instagram or Facebook use @RealtorRoshan to find me and i can tell you more. Good luck.

The facedown depends on whether it is silicone oil or long/short lasting gas bubble they use. My first surgery was long lasting gas bubble and I did facedown for 10 days. My second surgery was silicone oil and I did only 3 days Facedown. My third surgery was again long lasting gas and I did another 10 days. @@realtorroshancan you drive still?
@@fullsendmountainbiker5844 I have one good eye 👁️ And in Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦 I can drive with one eye.
On the eye with multiple surgeries, there is not much vision and I can’t read or write ✍️
Hey how are you doing now?
What caused your retina detachment? I dint know if I missed it🤦🏽♀️
I had retina tears 🕳 and 20 years ago it was laser surgery. High myopia causes retina to stretch and I had retina tear in my both eyes. I noticed a faint purple blue shadow on left eye. That’s the start.
@@realtorroshan Oh wow, how is your vision today in both eyes? I don’t recall in your video if you had cataract surgery before the vitrectomy surgery or your tears. I was very nearsighted as well and I had cataract surgery in both eyes to correct it. I was -8 and -6. Now I am -1 and -2 so far . I’m only 6 to 8 weeks out between eyes though. I’m still healing though. Prayers are with you. Anytime our eyes bother us it is a scary process to go through. 🙏🏾. I know this is off subject from your video put I’m experiencing a PVD in one eye. And it’s bothering me🤦🏽♀️. Praying it dissipates over time like the doctors encourages me that it may .
@@niecielask9542 Join this Facebook group page dedicated to retina detachment and support. Copy and paste below. I had five Vitrectomy surgeries. Gas, Gas, Oil, Gas, Gas again. I cannot read or write with left eye. Vision is all wavy and out of shape too. Right eye is good.
Yes, I also had cataract surgeries some 8 years before I had retina detachment. Both eyes. I was -6 and -10. Bad eye after -10 we stopped correcting it because it was a lazy eye since my childhood.
My advice to you is please heal fully. I am going to make a second video to let people know what happened since.

How are you doing now? Did you have cataract surgery before?
Before that my left eye was -12 and right -6
The eye that detached was -12 hence eye elongated and retina stretched and tears holes 🕳 etc. ultimately detachment.

My mother was also diagnosed with a retinal detachment. So I hope to do surgery for my mother. (Doctor recommend oil surgery)
So I want to know about,
1) situation after the surgery.
Good luck.
Thank you so much Mr.Roshan for your quick reply and advice. Sure I will use Facebook to contact you.

Do you still see floaters ? Or you used to see floaters before RD?
Before both eyes 👀 lots of floaters. After Vitrectomy surgery no more floaters on the RD eye. But the eye sight is no good. I rather have the floaters back and no lose the eye sight. My hood eye is full of big big floaters. I am okay with it.
Oh thank you for being honest. I pray you regain good eyesight in the eye.
@@realtorroshanyour floaters is likely due to RLE . The floaters later may have made the retina get off
I went through similar. In the end it was all for nothing and I have no vision in the 1 eye. If I could go back I would not have gone through with it. Anyhow, stay positive and be well.
I’m with ya. I asked if I wasn’t going to regain vision, why should I do the procedure? They told me it would start getting painful and my eye would shrink…I’m in day 4 and it sucks..

I have floaters for 25. It is okay. Your doctor is correct. Floaters ko hataneke liaye eye operation karna parta hai. Yo jaruri nai hai. Don’t do it. Big risk.
Dry eyes problem hai. Rest your eyes. Drink a lot of water. Do not work on computers 🖥️ for too long.
How many days did you have to lay down for?
The facedown depends on whether it is silicone oil or long/short lasting gas bubble they use. My first surgery was long lasting gas bubble and I did facedown for 10 days. My second surgery was silicone oil and I did only 3 days Facedown. My third surgery was again long lasting gas and I did another 10 days. I had to do multiple surgeries because I had multiple detachments. Main thing is it is very hard but you have to do the facedown as long as you can. If you need any specifics, please find me on Facebook Roshan Basnet and we can chat on FB Messenger.

If you font absolutely have to dont do cataract surgery. Nothing good comes from eye surgery. I had to in one eye,ok. They said zi had another in my good eye bit I couldnt see it. They did my good eye too and now I have all linds of problems. The doctors reported me , got my drivers license taken away. Once you have real eye troubles, your done. You will never see right again. If at all.
I am extremely sorry 😞 to hear your story. I had no idea a correlation between cataract. I will avoid it as much as I can.
I had cataract removed in left eye and haven’t seen since so I canceled my other cataract surgery as i dont want the same as my other eye and sfter the sugery the doctors dont want to be bothered too much with you, except to keep, giving you eye test to see if you can drive as they report straight away to the government to take your licence away
@@UbuteyAustralia I had cataract done on both eyes 2012. My left eye detachment happened Feb/2020. I have lots of floaters on my good eye and lots of lasers done. In Canada 🇨🇦, having one eye is good as having two eyes. They let you drive no problem.
Do you know wich type of gaz they have injected inside your eye ? SF6 ?,C2F6 ?C3F8?
