The chalk says "there is still time". Despite Owen continuing to deny "his" true self, I choose to believe the panic attack ending is "him" no longer able to deny it, and that "he" finally makes a change after the credits roll.
I absolutely adore the chalk writing and the multiple meanings behind it. Truly beautiful. Love your interpretation too, I'd love to think Owen finally embraced his true self in the end.
Honestly i didn't understand all that well but i still loved it and being queer coded makes so much sense! as a queer man myself i really feel like it explained the feeling so well and it felt like a distant memory as i went through some of the same stuff. Great analysis!
I'm happy my video is helping people understand how impactful this film is. A "distant memory" is such an amazing way to describe how ethereal this movie feels. Thanks for watching.
You're right, but the only reason he has asthma is because "he's" already buried alive as Tara. If Owen completed the ritual with Maddy, he would have reawakened as Tara and escaped. I get that Owen is afraid of dying, makes perfect sense, but can we really call what he's doing now as "living"?
Love this video, i thought this film was great. And i love how u showed clips of danger & eggs and the hollow when talking about the diversity in cartoons. I absolutely love those shows and i never ever see anyone mention them.

Thank you so much. 😁
She wanted him to get buried alive with her. With his asthma he could have died.
