Andrew picturing of genshin is so evil lol, I mean Genshin probably has the most detailed character design and story plot in any other gacha game, all andrew did is do the tutorial and he thinks he knew everything about it
You have to remember that nevermind was never expected to be such a commercial success. Back when the photoshoot was done, nirvana was still pretty underground.
A game I've spent a ridiculous amount of time playing is Lost Planet 2, and in that game there is a "slot machine" that lets you unlock upgrades, items, and cosmetics using an in-game currency. There are no microtransactions or any way to spend real money to unlock this stuff; just a random prize for every 20 collectibles you gather. That system on it's own kept me playing Lost Planet 2 over and over and over again just so I could get everything in the game. If that kind of randomized lootbox-style system is so addictive to me, I'm fucking terrified if I ever get deep into a game that has a paid gambling system in it. Also, Lost Planet 2's slot machine? No duplicates. You can only get each reward once, and once you've run the pool dry you're done. No shitty "dust" or whatever.
Lol i remember farming the desert mission with friends where you jump between the big vehicles cant rember what they were for all the box drops at the end good times.
"dust" systems are amazing. It's a way to give players more loot without actually giving them more loot and it gives you more freedom with "customization". Imagine a similar system to the way that already works but each spin costs half as much, you would get 2x more loot but the downside is that you have to sacrifice one into "components" or "dust" to 'build' the other one. In the end, you're getting the exact same amount but now for every item you get a 'free reroll' on the item if you don't like it or rather you get more options in general. It's even better than a free reroll because you can keep them all until you decide what to turn into dust. More exiting gambling moments and actual options rather than just getting stuck with whatever crap roll you hit. There's no downside and you just have a pessimistic view thinking the 'dust' means you get less items overall. Either way they would balance it out by nerfing the amount of rolls you get or increasing it's price or whatever. It's all the same in the end but turning items into scrap just means more options.
Andrew sounds like a boomer talking about Genshin. Yeah the monetization stuff is somewhat true but maybe he should of completed the tutorial and get the feel of the game before spending $200 and then complaining about it. As a f2p Ive gotten almost every character I wanted and every character I have feels unique and fulfills their own roles. I guess they aren't getting sponsored by Genshin again anytime soon.
bruh im f2p and i have every single character to be released. i had a literal aneurism listening to him cap about it. literally looking at it for five seconds you can see that every character is different.
He's also wrong saying they are all the same model, that logic applies to every game if he's gonna go there. Andrew has never been so wrong about something. This is my first ever official podcast episode and this is actually pretty nice since I only listen to trash taste and refuse to listen to other podcasts but this one is more chill. Also the genshin part is accurate as a former genshin player the characters and their personalities is what makes people want to spend all their money + the currency system and the stats if you just want stats you can spend money
I absolutely love the fact that people in these comments act as therapists doing mind reading through their screen, looking at facial expressions and constructing game theories based on what they looked like for exactly 3 seconds when one person said something. These comments make me remember why I only listen to these via Spotify now. Holy hell, man.
Not to jump at the defense of Genshin Impact... But Andrew literally talks about the game as if he played 100 hours of it even when he himself says he didn't even played an hour of it. The game has a lot more content than the gacha, but he only spent money on the gacha (Which is his own fault btw) and then started talking shit about it. Again, I wouldn't mind someone saying they don't like the game, but he's just blatantly lying about the whole characters being a pallette swap thing and every character being the same.
Yeah, it's a little lame because there's a lot to criticize of Genshin's gacha system. He's right that there's so many currencies designed to make it less clear how much you spend (to buy top up you get the top up currency -> another currency -> pull currency). Plus, the cost of top up currency is way too high for the amount of pull currency you're getting, which is also a fair thing to complain about. But the gacha isn't pack-based, I'm not sure where he got that from. Every gacha doesn't guarantee high-rarity items until later pulls, that's how gachas work. Also a fair point to mention is that the game is rated 12+ when kids should not be playing gambling games. The characters definitely aren't palette swaps though, did he think that because they have base models cause the game is anime-styled? Most anime games have that. They don't reuse attack animations, those are part of each character's kit design for attack timings. If he wanted to criticize characters, he can talk about how certain characters' utility is locked hard-to-get dupes though a constellation system (Kaeya), characters have dupes that ruin their utility (Bennett), characters you have to pay for having really poor kit design (Xinyan, and especially Yoimiya, who is not worth it for the price) and high-rarity characters not having their glitches patched despite releasing months ago (Childe, Albedo). The game is fully playable with the starter characters plus the MC even if the MC is obnoxiously weak, and it has a lot of content he just didn't see cause he didn't play it. He's allowed to dislike gacha games on principle but in many ways his criticism is misinformed. It's a shame too, because if he actually played to identify its issues it'd be nice to have more public criticism of the game.
I mean, Genshin Impact characters aren't a pallet swap. They do have a standard set of models for each body type they currently have: tall guy, shorter guy, tall woman, medium height woman, child. But to call it a pallet swap when they have entirely different costumes, accessories, facial features and hairstyles is a bit of a reach. Move sets in combat are sometimes similar in their basic attacks but every elemental skill for each character is different. It feels a bit horrible how you downplay the creativity behind the characters. You also don't *need* to buy characters. All are available by playing the game and saving up premium currency. The catch is that it's significantly harder than just outright buying premium currency (not the characters). Just shows how he didn't play it and doesn't fully understand I guess.
He just wants the money lmao, he literally did re took the photo shoot almost every year and has never, one tatted across his chest or sum, and he literally makes it his whole personality. So ya dude just wants the money

They started to talk about Genshin as I’m fishing in Genshin… not defending Genshin but they were pretty off with it. They aren’t reskins. Every single one has different abilities and they play off each other.
Yeah... that really confused me a lot...
Like... I don't think anything he said was right at all...
Every character has vastly different abilities and designs, also backstories that blend into the lore around them.
I understand how people don't like Genshin and I wouldn't mind that, but he did say lots of random stuff that isn't right at all and portrays the game in a bad light...
yeah the monetization scheme is awful and there's plenty valid criticisms to be made about the game but he was literally just giving incorrect information about it lol
R5 catch... and yea Andrew was literally talking out his arse he even admitted he didn’t finish the tutorial
Remember he didn’t play it so can’t really take his opinion to heart just in case someone wants to hate on him for not liking a game you like
@@armyspy9797 Of course, we aren't really "hating" because he didn't like it, he's in all his right to dislike a game. But he only played for less than an hour and spent a lot of money, then he started shitting on it like he played 100 hours. Pretty much everything he said is completely and blatantly wrong, that's what we're talking about.
Legend has it that, 30 years later, he is still chasing that dollar.

"they can play for an infinite amount of time." Damn, what kind of technology do they have over there.
Podcasts are a godsend for me right now
Andrew sounds like a boomer talking about Genshin.
Any chance of making the ads seperate and offering a paid version without the ad sections?
Was Andrew high while he was playing Genshin? How are those characters palette swaps lmao
He's also wrong saying they are all the same model, that logic applies to every game if he's gonna go there. Andrew has never been so wrong about something. He also admitted to playing the tutorial that's it. How you so knowledgeable my guy? How do you know they all move the same? Hm?

Not to jump at the defense of Genshin Impact... But Andrew literally talks about the game as if he played 100 hours of it even when he himself says he didn't even played an hour of it. The game has a lot more content than the gacha, but he only spent money on the gacha (Which is his own fault btw) and then started talking shit about it.
Again, I wouldn't mind someone saying they don't like the game, but he's just blatantly lying about the whole characters being a pallette swap thing and every character being the same.
Yeah, there is definitely more to genshin, you don't even need to spend money. It's PvE and the traveler can get you through anything.
The pallet e swap thing is just a mis represention, of the trial ahhahaha , I would expect that from a person who didn't even play
@@pakkubear1012 people can’t call out someone for being factually wrong nowadays without being mad? Stfu man
@@pakkubear1012 How can you tell your friends all about a game you havent even played as if you have months under your belt?
I kinda get the feeling that Charlie is over this podcast. Don't know if I'm over thinking or missing smth, but he just seems uninterested.
Andrew and jackson’s working cameras finally
When i heard him talk about Genshin i honestly tough he was talking about another game
