Just to clarify, the woman in the video, my Oma, is still alive at the ripe age of 82. She walks with a cane now, but that doesn't stop her. She traveled back to Germany last year and even went to Oktoberfest. She is a beautiful person and my Uncle did an amazing job making this wonderful film.
She is beautiful!! You are lucky she is still alive!! Mine has gone. :o( Enjoy her as much as you can now!! How I wish to have a piece of that apple pie!! :O)
EK Graphic Design how is she doing?
God bless her!!! 😘😘

This video is so priceless. I love having elderly people tell me stories about their lives and how to cook or keep house. I had a neighbor who worked full time while caring for her sick husband and kids. Building the upper story on her home and keeping her garden and chickens. She made everything from scratch even her soap.
Thank you for uploading this video. It's truly a treasure.
Dina, Thank you so much for your wonderfully heart felt comment. God bless your neighbor, she truly is "The Salt of The Earth".
Best,
Tim

I raised my 5 daughters and now they are grown but none of them seem to carry on any of the things we enjoyed when they were young. Baking, cooking, quilting, dressmaking, woodworking, all manner of homestead craft and chore. Now my granddaughters are coming up ranging in age from 4 to 9. I am disabled now so I dont get to see them much anymore. I thought I would start making little videos of the things I did when their moms were young. From baking to cleaning to just good advice. Then I happened upon your video. Just that perfect little push for me to do it. Thank you. This is a real treasure.
AmericanWoman1964 i cant wait yo see your first video...the world is hungry for authenticity 💗
AmericanWoman1964, Thanks so much for your comment. I too would love to see your videos and I really encourage you to make them and keep the memories alive for your families future generations. God Bless, Tim
This video has stolen my heart. God bless your adorable mom
wow a nice mom; a pure ,kindly and radiant .heart the best beloved of all things in the world .and a sigh of gods loving-kindness. to mankind.....p.b. Belgium...oxo lovely video thanks
My mom used to make apple pie but now has alzhiemers and can't talk. One time my brother worked with a guy that trimmed trees. They cut down an apple tree because the owner said the fruit wasn't any good. What he meant was the apples were like concrete. My brother brought home enough apples to make a pie. My mom put them in a paper bag and kept them in a closet I think - they had to ripen more even though they were red. Then she made the best apple pie from them, all by memory. You have to use the right apples when you make apple pie (NOT red delicious) these might have been concrete at the beginning but wow what a delicious pie.
This video made me cry... As American as apple pie. We're losing it and it's breaking my heart. My mom is gone now. That lady reminded me of my grandma who I loved so much too..
she reminded me of my grandma i watched her make pie the old fashioned wsycthats the best tasting kind i have her recipes from 1940 2950 will try to make apple pie just like she did they make it with love
such a sweet lady
She so reminds me of my Oma. I would have loved to hear her story. I know from what I understand is they suffered greatly during the war. That my Opa died on Russian front. Nothing to eat and were suffering but Oma came thru the war married my Grand Father came to America and we had a wonderful life with her. Tough, sweet, gentle but could twist your ear if you did wrong... Thanks for sharing made my eyes wet thinking of her...

She's so amazing, so reminds me of my own Oma. Who has a similar story except she moved to Sweden. Very nice video!
First watched this 8 years ago, always brings a smile to my face! I wonder if she's still with us?
Being from the Berkshire's I'm reminded of my Mom making Apple pie. Like her she immigrated through Elise Island but from Italy. Watching this video confirms what special moments we have with a wonderful Mom that showed us pride and love by doing something so simple as making a Apple pie. Great video!
Who Ever Is THe Camera Man Is Rude !I Would Help Her !(:

What an amazing woman.
You can see that she feels so happy with your company, its such a beautiful connection!
My grandmother lived with me for 4 years, she passed away at the age of 98. I remember in 1984 I got hired as a Deputy Sheriff and had to sew some patches on my shirt. I positioned the patches where I needed them and was going to have the cleaners sew them on. When I came home from work that day my grandmother had sewed them on by hand. I still have that shirt to this day. Thanks for the video it brought back memories!
The song itself with the piano playing already prepared my heart for something remarkeable,my eyes well'd up.
This reminds me so much of my grandma, I miss her and her apple pie dearly! Thanks for sharing, trying my first apple pie a la America this afternoon :)
I tried doing your recipe boy i made every1 happy for thanks giving, i told them i got it from mom's apple pie from youtube..... thanks so much for sharing your secret recipe..... i enjoyed it a lot!!! cheers.....

Beautifully done!
I don't know why but this made me cry... she has such a beautiful soul, and a tender presence. I think the elderly have many stories and are appreciative of life. She is a blessing in her own way to anyone watching this video! Love her!
Nunca!! vi un pie !! Hecho con tanto amor!!
She is so cuteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :)

That pie crust was gorgeous! She makes me miss my grandma!
Great video....I Loved it MOM....
Kisses and Hugs....
~MM~
This lady knows how to cook apple pie! I searched so many videos to find one that cooked the apples first. Most of the other video's don't simmer the apples..... excuse me..... you gots to cook the apples!
I'll pass on the raisins, although it might be good....not for me. Great Recipe.
They should have kept the MUSIC off or very low while she was talking. This is a lovely lady and it's so annoying to have that useless, lousy music constantly going! Anyway, I love watching this lady bake and speak. Like the grandmother I wish I had.
lol this is the last place I'd expect to hear Utada Hikaru's 'First Love' (that's the opening music, in case you're wondering).
She's so welcoming, and warmed my heart, watching how she made the pie without any care of messing the kitchen, but at the end showing all she needed to clean, so cute. Thanks for sharing.
She doesn't measure, meaning it's all from the heart. She made me realize again that most of the time happiness comes from giving like baking a pie that you are sure everybody would love.
lovely grandma,,,,beautiful apple pie,,look delicious,,,,happy new year 2016,,,,
I LOVED this Short Film of our your Beautiful Beautiful Mom and she has inspired me to bake my own apple pie today for dinner . Thank you for sharing your mother seemed lovely God Bless you
I happened to stumble across this video due to the "still" of a cute grandma with the apron. I certainly didn't expect to tear as I watched (which I did,a lot) nor did I expect to watch this video three times so far (which I have). This video of this cute, independant, strong grandma doing what every grandma should do best, is like a warm blanket on a winters night or that feeling you get wearing soft pajamas in front of a warm fire; it makes one feel good. I can only hope you made more of these
I enjoyed watching this video of Mrs.Duquette so much. I was hoping to learn how to make an apple pie but, I was so in awe by her warmness as if she had welcomed the world into her home. Instead I cried and I'm still crying It reminded me of my grandmother who I lost back in 1998. I think it is great that you took the time to do this for her and for everyone else...even people who didn't know her and i'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks this =) Thumbs up Mrs. Duguette
And like many others this makes me miss my grandma incredibly, she's still alive but sadly sick with Alzheimers and Multiple Sclerosis. Appreciate your grandparents people. Call them visit them send them pictures saying you care. Once they're gone you'll never get them back or the history and culture that comes with them.
same here, and after i had been with her everyday i saw her dead on the floor one day...
i was 14 then and couldn't sleep without crying for weeks! i still feel bad sometimes about it and the first days i thought that if i had came one hour earlier she hadnt died, but that wasnt true because she didnt die of falling, but from her cancer...
i miss you grandma!
She said she could no longer eat her own apple pies that she made, and that she made them for her family instead. I suppose she was perhaps diabetic and wasn't able to enjoy them any longer. It made me think how true happiness is in doing for our families and friends, neighbors first. Thank you to whoever uploaded this video about this lady, I really enjoy it.
aaah... please... don't make me cry... its just too damn typical with grandmothers and their baking skills, i miss this too much. Its all about the past, love, experience and familiy + friends of course. its not long time before my grand mother passes away i think and pays the gate at heaven a visit, i have to see her :'/
Happy thanksgiving to you grandma , that was so simple and nice , I will try to make one soon , and I wish you a happy , healthy life and longevity !
I was happy and had this sense of nostalgia to my grandma's home made food , but she past away ! any way I enjoyed the recipe and I guess everyone did ! thanks again .
to joyceoie: apple pie is really easy to make....especially if you buy the pre-made "pie crust dough shells" at the super market. Even thought the basic concept of making an apple pie is simple....everyone has their own variation or secret ingredient. I still can't get mine to taste the way my 86 year old mother makes them
im balling my eyes out about how inspiration and allegorical this exact situation, its a beautiful thing, i like fleishman, am going to make pies for a living, but instead of becoming an astronaut, ill be a nuclear physisist, great great great!!! your accent reminds me of my dog floofy who past in the battle of D-day in WWII, i miss him to this day...
wat a wonderful and sweet grandma! you can literally see expertise on her face. reminds me of my grandmother (fu fu fu ).
i wish this lovely lady could teach me other great recipes as well.
i'm subscribing because of her, so you better upload more videos of her!
may God bless her with good health always.
i just loved her, she is beautiful, she is adorable! and the apple pay looks perfect and soooo delicious :) and she is right... the mess that we left when cooking is the most dificult part, but when the cookies or pays comes out of the oven... i think... worth it!
hugs for her. tks for this cute video
How can someone dislike this poor human, warm and honest "mom's Apple Pie". I think that it was just mistakenly checked as dislike, because it is just so "wonderfully homemade". Thank you!
Be the way. Does somebody have more from "Mom's recipes"??
..great class!
WOW!I came for an apple pie recipe and got so very much more.
Not only did I get a heart hug, I felt like I got a great history lesson.
She is wonderful and I can only imagine how awesome that pie must taste.
This is a must save video. Thank you so very much!
You know.... Everyone can make a pie like this, but what makes it so special when your grandparents make it for you, is the care they put in it. Everyone wants to do things so rushed and fast all the time, but just look how carefull she does it. For me, that is what makes it so good.
Defies, all the new-fangled recipes which say put the apples in the pie uncooked, lol this is also similar to the way my grandma made it. Also the way she made the dough, is the way i make it with my hands, and they tell you today to use a pastry cutter, lol go grandma. I loved this!
just wanted an easy way to make apple pie...... then felt bad that i wanted to rush.... now i really want to learn to make it from scratch ........... reminded me of my grandma , never measures anything, either....wow ........... really liked this video, thank you, God bless you.........
ok, let me try this: "Greetings to your German Grandma. Yes, I have also a Grandma(?) in Germany.........but only at Easter she would make "apple strudel" but "apple strudel" is different than American "Apple Pie". I tried once.............................Thank You!! (that was fun)
Just wanted you to know I watch this video every year around Thanksgiving and make your mom's apple pie recipe every year for the past 5 years!
How fun it was to watch her explain how to make apple pie and talk about how things were when she first started making apple pie. Nostalgic and informative; thanks for sharing and tell your Mom I am making her apple pie today for my husband. (y)
Elsa Duquette is the woman making the pies, and from what she says "When I was 19 in 1944 I met an American GI..." (Therefore b 1925) The video is dedicated to Susan, probably her daughter, and I gather Tim's (the filmaker) sister.
I was looking for an apple pie recipe..wanted to learn how to make a pie..but i have learned so much more from her! she is lovely!!! I would love to sit in that kitchen with her and listen to her stories for hours!!! just wanna hug her!! God bless her!!
She is so adorable! She reminded me of my grandmothers (meine Omas), who are both German as well, and they also cook without measures, yet their recipes are always the best ones :) Excellent video! Greetings from Argentina!
what an adorable grandmma ,i saw this video few years back nd i just cant forget her face even now.i was going to make apple pie today nd to get some inspiration i saw it again.she makes the pie with luv nd effortlessly ...wow
