In season nine of SHAMELESS, political fervor hits the South Side and the Gallaghers take justice into their own hands. Frank (Macy) sees financial opportunity in campaigning and decides to give voice to the underrepresented South Side working man. Fiona (Rossum) tries to build on her success with her apartment building and takes an expensive gamble hoping to catapult herself into the upper echelon. Lip (Jeremy Allen White) distracts himself from the challenges of sobriety by taking in Eddie’s niece, Xan (Scarlet Spencer) Ian (Cameron Monaghan) faces the consequences of his crimes as the Gay Jesus movement takes a destructive turn. Debbie (Emma Kenney) fights for equal pay and combats harassment; and her efforts lead her to an unexpected realization. Carl (Ethan Cutkosky) sets his sights on West Point and prepares himself for cadet life. Liam (Christian Isaiah) must develop a new skillset to survive outside of his cushy private school walls. Kevin (Steve Howey) and V (Shanola Hampton) V juggle the demands of raising the twins with running the Alibi as they attempt to transform the bar into a socially conscious business.

It's so impressive how they styled Emmy Rossum to look so extremely different throughout her time on the show. She looks completely opposite to how she usually appears in episodes in this clip, it's super impressive

I really feel like they did Fiona dirty this season, she deserved a much better sendoff.
I’m 3 years late lol but I thinknjt was a good ending. She gave her entire LIFE to her family and when she needed them most, they turned their backs. Her family were her biggest haters! Lip even had the audacity to kick Fiona out for bring a drunk and he himself was a recovering alcoholic and Fiona always supported him. Theg never supported her business ventures either. The best thing she could’ve done imo was leave without saying anything.

I was dead wrong. Yet this is good to some end
nothing really changed he still threw away his golden ticket of going to an ivy league school (initially MIT but changed to University of Chicago) on a full scholarship. He was also a paid teaching assistant for a Professor who was his friend (despite also being an alcoholic like him) and a residence don (living rent free and banging chicks) first at a dorm and for a short time at a sorority. He fucked it all up with his drinking and banging that hot professor (however the university made it sound like he was the victim). He got kicked out because he got arrested on campus for vandalism (smashing parked cars with a sledge hammer) and then resisting arrest from the campus cops. The Prof Yuens bailed him out despite his own car being smashed. Kevin gave him a yelling at the Alibi for getting kicked out and not setting an example for his younger siblings and even his and Veronica's own kids. I don't think the two have done a scene together since aside from driving Ian to prison. Then he and that prof petitioned for Lip to get reinstated back in the school and were denied. He then finally got drunk for the last time and broke into that Prof Eileen's house while he was hammered. She told him to get help which he did after meeting Brad in AA and them learning to help each other stay sober together. Brad a mechanic also gave Lip a job at his shop but I'm pretty sure Lip isn't a certified mechanic and he basically passed up on trying to transfer to another school to become the engineer he initially was studying in college to be. And it is not like Lip is some successful college drop out who started a business. He clearly has a disdain for systematic hierarchies in society like college or even how a business small or large is run based on the short internship he had at a tech startup. And the disdain he had for Fiona using the family home as collateral to get a loan to buy her laundromat or even back in the old days when she used the squirrel fund to run a club night and ended up falling short of barely breaking even.

@@eamonmahoney9466 he's still cynical otherwise he would go back to school instead of pretending like he is incapable. His Prof Yuens kept telling him he was better than this but he had to believe in himself.

@@eamonmahoney9466 Fiona was just as upset about him dropping out of college as he was for her leaving cocaine out in the kitchen for a young Liam to snort. They seem to really reconcile around the time there mom killed herself and Fiona's wedding to Sean got called off. Both have gone on benders that have got them arrested for being drunk and doing stupid things. Lip broke into Eileen's house and before that yelled infront of it drunk while Fiona went to Ford's house and stole his tools only to deny she did and then vandalize his home by throwing them at his windows while she too was drunk. Lip also lashed out at Yuens when he was drunk because he was mad about his relationship with his prof imploding just like Fiona was drunk and assaulted the racist. Lol and they both projected on Ian to become more responsible after he dropped out of high school like when Lip got him a job as a university janitor only for him to quit and Fiona for getting him a job as a bus boy in the diner before he decided to quit that to. Then he eventually became an emt for a bit before the Gay Jesus fiasco that landed him in prison. All three are similar to Frank in that they can only get their shit together for so long before they implode. And the older they get the shorter their stints of having their shit together and more being reckless. Remember when Frank actually held a job working in that Home and Garden store and also got Liam enrolled in a private school only to become a drunk again and hook up with a crazy woman he got pregnant. Now Frank is trying to be the hobo loco man just like earlier in the show when he was working as a coyote to help people get to Canada or as drug smuggler moving drugs from Mexico in his butt. However, one thing this family is good at is that everyone aside from a young Liam (who is still questioning his sexual preference) knows how to get laid whether it be fucking the boss, fucking a coworker, hooking up on tinder or exploring/experimenting with homosexuality.

Never happened Fiona’s gone. They had amazing chemistry. But he was so bad for her. He didn’t tell her his real name even after Debbie found out. He bribed Debbie to lie to her. He drove Frank across the border (which that was funny) He got involved with a drug lord and married his daughter. Shoved her in Fiona’s face as much as he could to piss her off. Got Lip and Ian arrested. He was also screwing that Este chick right before he just up and abandoned Fiona dumping her without a real conversation. And just showing up at her work and her house 2 years later pulling his old tricks trying to get her back. Expecting her to just pick up where they left off. When she was married. Sad to admit that horrible character is the only guy she ever had real chemistry with but did way to many shitty things to be a likable character.
