The other day, he expressed that the "me too movement" had "gone too far" - this was RECENTLY, like... it's not even trending currently! My "gamer centrist" friend is thankfully still not on the right-wing side of center, and both of us shared a look, before confronting our reactionary buddy - "um, the hell does that mean? women should report... rapes... less?" Maybe its harder when you're young, I'm not, I'm 40, those are friends I've had since 16 - and it costs me nothing to put them in their place, if I have to - and what's interesting is, it often takes very little. Hello Marxists and Anarchists. I am wondering if any of you can help me out. For two years I have been a committed communist participating in protests, taking part in bookclubs, watching debates, as well as convincing even the least likely of people that communism may actually be a good idea. In the past few months however I have become disillusioned with the ideology due to the Austrian School. Im wondering if any of you who are well researched on these Austrian School arguments and refutations to them Id really appreciate if you could help me out. 1 Time preference: Capitalists are necessary because they have a low time preference. The capitalist delays gratification whereas the worker wants instant gratification. It is this low time preference which builds civilisation. This is what leads to more productivity and wealth creation since the capitalist would rather suffer and wait for future consumption. In a society where the workers own the means of production the workers would want gratification now or at least in the near future. There isnt a capitalist to take all the risk and expand production instead the workers would be more risk adverse. 2 Tendency of the rate of profit to fall: The refutation to this is against the Marxist idea of the rate of profit falling to 0. A world where all profits fall to 0 is a world where all resources are allocated to their most efficient use permanently. As long as their is scarcity we need resource allocation As long as there is uncertainty profits and losses still exist Eliminting uncertainty means no more progress in civilisation can be made. Eliminating scarcity will lead to utopia. 3 ECP: I acknowledge that Professor Cockshott has done a pretty strong job refuting this. However I still dont get how the labour theory of value is accurate. Its measured by socially necessary labour time. However what is socially necessary it must be determined by human beings? Does that not mean that value is subjective. 4 Empirical evidence: It seems to be that in most countries the more free the market is the more wealth there is for all. It seems to be that privatisation makes these countries far richer. Yes they become more unequal. But the poorest citizens are far better off then the situation before. Perhaps one can explain this is due to imperialism which I am no expert in. But take Ireland the “sickman” of Europe became one of the wealthiest once the multinationals came in I realise this is a long comment and most will not wish to respond to this. But it would be very much appreciated!
In the US, the for-profit left are appealing to the millions of Ben Shapiro and Steven Crowder fans by defending degrading and abusive behavior by men, as if it's the criticism that is the problem, not the actions (and yes, speech can be an action). It's unfortunate that you ended this with the "be a feminist" line. Though first and second-wave feminism is obviously still needed in many parts of the word, modern (third and fourth-wave) feminism is not about equality, but pushes gynocentric supremacy (though it can't, of course, admit that since it would then be found out for what it really is). Left-leaning anarchists should oppose this relatively recent manifestation of feminism as they would any non-egalitarian group that seeks more rights and privileges than any another group, and pushes a false narrative to achieve it.

There is no societal structure that is keeping them in power or affording them the privileges that come with power. Trying to laugh at them for "matriarchy" is just stupid and incoherent. They're not "doing a matriarchy" just because they're women or doing stereotypically feminine things. In fact, most women uphold patriarchy just as much as men because it's the default power structure, and that includes many of the women who are actively trying to fight against it. Patriarchy works because most people don't even know it exists or that they support it. It is just seen as the "natural" way of things and that there is no other alternative, when in actuality it is a cage designed to break your spirit and make you conform to a specific ideal, sacrificing meaningful human interaction and emotional and mental well-being for the illusion of power and the few meager privileges that come with it. (The alternative, in case you're wondering, is equality and freedom. Equality for all people and the freedom to be your own person without having to confirm to what society pressures you to be and do). I will say that laughing at a man for "patriarchy" is also pretty meaningless. It would make more sense to criticize a specific incident that illustrates a man's ignorance of his own privilege or his insensitivity to another's lack of privilege. Hope this helps.
