    That's how I sanitize my bottles. Plastic wrap is also very handy for covering stuff. Thanks for leading the way guys. My booze is better because of your videos.

    I'm watching this in Paris. You guys are right, the French are a casual bunch especially this time of year.

    I have an old farm tractor, so I figured if you send me a couple cases, we'll test your theory, lol. Great video as always, James and Steve. I have no tractor, damn! Cheers guys!!

    If your looking for anymore funk from your honey; let it boil a bit longer and the froth will rise to the top. You can then lower the temp and swish it back in the honey water before adding. In that froth is all the funky stuff from cross polinating, bee's legs the works.
    For making a honey brew without the funk; let it froth and just keep scooping it off an discarding it. Then in the taste you'll get more Busy Bee than Counto Gregorio.

    Aren't you diluting by bottling with beer? Since you boil out any alcohol? Interesting idea though, maybe just pasteurize?

    So was it coriander or cardamom? Been looking for a good/simple saison recipe. This one sounds good.

      David Howard Both. 1/2 tsp coriander and 1/4 tsp cardamom. - James

    The problem I see and have read with sanitizing in the dishwasher is the water jets spin very fast and the bottle opening is small, so little, if any, water will get inside. For that reason, when I used to bottle beer, I always soaked them in a bucket of Star San.

      It's all about the heat in the dishwasher. The bottles go in clean, then I use the hottest wash setting (no soap) and the heated drying cycle. I measured the temp in the dishwasher, and it topped 170F for more than ten minutes - more than adequate to sanitize the bottles. - James

    So you dumped the priming sugar solution into the beer hot off the stove? Hmmm.

    • @basicbrewing
      @basicbrewing  6 років тому +2

      That's the way I do it, too, when batch priming. The small amount of hot solution doesn't raise the temperature of the much larger volume of beer very much at all. I've never had any problems with the beer carbonating afterwards. - James

      basicbrewing haha, I don't know... I've seen a few videos with carbonation issues!! Lol
