  • Bernadine Evaristo won last year's Booker Prize for her best selling novel, 'Girl, Woman, Other' - which is about 12 very different types of black women and how they navigate living in Britain over several decades.

With racial injustices very much on the news agenda, Jordan Jarrett-Bryan went to meet her and he began by asking her how she feels about recent events.

It's important for her to promote black women because she is a racial identitarian. If she were white we would call her out for that racism but she is not so we lower our standards and ignore her obsession with her race.

Why is there a disproportionate number of joggers in jail? It’s called being over-represented.

Why don't you ever mention all the millionaires, professor, doctors, scientists, mayor's, mps, teachers, judges that are not white...

Because it's not relevant? The proportion of millionaires, professors, doctors, scientists, mayors, mp's and judges that are not white is lower than their proportion in wider society. Just because a few black people made it doesn't mean racism is over. The people in power are still largely white men.

" all the millionaires " bla bla Alan... Bernadine does mention people in positions of power are not taking responsibility for addressing social, particularly racialized, inequities.

It is so sad to see that in only 1 minute from the video posting and so many dislikes already. It’s disheartening to learn people do not know anything about the importance of representation and they do not want to educate themselves about it either!

"We need to be in positions of power" Because you can only be represented by people the same colour as you. That's what Far Leftists think. They are just as racist as the people they claim to oppose

"cannot underestimate value of reading" If you underestimate the value then you might not read, that's where the trouble starts. No worries if you overestimate the value, you'll be fine and read and read.

I just read Girl, Woman, Other.
    I really enjoyed reading it.
Girl, Woman, Other was more of a voyage of discovery for me than a story about knights, aliens or cyborgs. I lived in London for years these women’s lives are quite unknown to me, and all the more intriguing for that reason.
