  • Despite suffering brain damage from an assault in June 2020, Wanda Palmer awoke after being in a coma for two years and said her brother was her assailant. Officials believe the suspect, Daniel Palmer, allegedly attacked with a machete or a hatchet. WSAZ's Kim Rafferty reports.

    Wow, it's amazing not only that she regained consciousness after SO long, but also that her memory of who attacked her was intact, and that she was able to communicate the information to law enforcement. But what a horrific thing for her to go through, and tragic that she'll never fully recover. And at the hands of her own brother. Heartbreaking.

      I guess it depends on which religion, because what you describe is very much not Christianity:
      (1) New Testament Jesus said time and again that _everything_ a believer prayed for would come true; (2) Old Testament God denied us all free will; and (3) to Christians who believe God is all-powerful something happening “against God’s will” is impossible.
      And BTW knowing when to ask is not a problem: “God, please have none of my relatives die of violence ,” “God, please end cancer now,” etc. Not hard, see?

    • @SpeckleKen
      @SpeckleKen Рік тому +1

      @zoomies Biblical Jesus disagrees with you. He said _every_ believer's prayer comes true! And he may have said this more than he said anything in the Gospels; it is one of Christianity's USPs.
      _“If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer."_ [Jesus in Matt 21:22]
      _”For everyone who asks receives.”_ [Jesus, when asked about prayer, Luke 11:9-10]
      _”Ask and it will be given to you... For everyone who asks receives.”_ [Jesus in Matt 7:7-8]
      _”You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.”_ [Jesus in John 14:14]
      _”Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”_ [Jesus in Mark 11:24]
      Etc., etc.

      @SpeckleKen Рік тому

      @zoomies
      So that’s _"ignore what Jesus actually said, 'cos I know what he _*_meant_*_ to say"?_
      There was a time when Christians *liked* the Jesus they found on the page and didn't feel they had to "interpret" his words to mean the opposite.
      Help me out zoomies: when you and Jesus disagree on prayer, which one is the authority?

      Also zoomies: _"I don't disagree with him at all."_ Right.
      _"It's a simple fact that prayers don't always get the answers we want."_ I agree. I couldn't call myself a Christian and agree, of course., but I agree.

      I was one, and I just realized this year that I am afraid of people and filled with anxiety around people. It was "normal" to me my whole life and didn't realize it was even happening. Now that I can see from a farther perspective, I realize how screwed up all that was. I believe narcissism was at the root with my mother, but this kind of thing where someone has to use a family member to make their enemy, to make themselves look good or right all the time can come from many different angles, I'm sure.
      It's just always great to hear others say they love and protect their loved ones, rather than using them to PLACE them in dangerous or illegal positions (or take their aggression and violence out on them).💞

    I lived in Ripley WV for years. My daughter was born there (19 years ago) and still lives there. The police officer was not exaggerating when he said they needed to use ATVs to get to certain locations. It is VERY remote. Also, it's such a small town and most of the people have been there for generations. I call it an uncivilized town. They protect their own and look the other way. I suffered terrible (hospital trips) domestic violence for years, and every time the police did come out (which wasn't often enough) they made me leave, no matter how bloody and bruised I was. Nothing ever happened to my abuser. The authorities in this town look the other way, a lot. I feel for this woman and I'm gutted that it took so long to find her attacker, although it doesn't surprise me. I wish her all the best and hope she fully recovers ❤️
