My engine is the one with a timing chain & is automatic & I purchased it second hand having done almost a hundred kilometres I have driven it now up to 340 km & it’s still going strong even though the cam followers are rattling a little the engine still goes like a rocket & the engine starts first time every time! I’ve replaced the ignition coil once. Just purchased a new resistor for the heater from Amazon. The clear coat o the paint work began to peel, so scraped it all off applied two rattle cans of the original colour & recovered the whole car with laquar & it now looks like a brand new car! It’s act the best car that I have ever driven & it handles ever so well! Much much better than the Isuzu wagon thatI used to own that ended up with four small cracks in the cylinder head between the injectors & the water jackets! That cost me thousands to get repaired resulting in a brand new head! They are heaps of shit of a motor vehicle!

One year later, hope you've still got it!. One point to be aware of, is the rear crossmember (it's NOT a subframe on the estate) is made of unobtainium, and if the tops of the spring mounts rot, it's an mot fail. So goodbye Mondeo. So, I'd recommend you to inspect underneath and if it's not too late, brush plenty of engine oil around that area.
Yes I’m an MOT tester , if within 30cm of suspension/ structural/ seatbelt / body mount / chassis area it’s a fail … especially if tow bar is fitted even the very rear crossmember then becomes part of the test
Great video. I really like Mondeos - IMO Mk3s were the best. I still have a 55 plate 1.8 Zetec hatchback 100k miles which still runs like new. So nice and tight with no rattles. Holds the road and drives superbly. I'd definitely keep that one. Estates are so handy. Cheers. Vivian

so impressed with the Hatch I sourced for daughter that I've now got myself an Estate. Comfort is a world away from my Focus Ghia, with almost the same reg as your silver SUV thing there, currently on Gumtree, silver, 400squid (its got issues). Is your 5 speed as long geared as my 6spd (not quite 2000rpm at 70mph)? 6 not ideal for town driving, but then I don't do much of that.
Yeah the mk3 are cracking cars, drive so well, nice and comfortable as well. Ah my ML350 EO54WZT Yes I tend to find the MTX75 5 speed box is the best all round, as the 6 speed can be hard work as slower speeds, but clearly better at cruising speeds. Thanks for watching 👍🏼

Yeah I really do like a MK3 Mondeo Estate had countless MK3s of all kinds over the years. I’m sure they just make the figures up to keep the tax/insurance figures right (when new) no way these feel like 115/130/155 all of them feel 20/30bhp more than plated figure (when running right) This 115 was DeCat/EGR blanked/new injectors years back and it’s far quicker than most early euro3 130s I have owned, much prefer old school waste-gate turbo power delivery over the VNT euro 4 ones, plus as you say far more reliable, I also much prefer the 5 speed MTX 75 box I just got rid of x2 Ghia X but both petrols 2.5 V6 estate and 2.0 hatch, lovely specs, but couldn’t get away with the high tax, gutless power delivery and poor MPG, I know the diesels are far from perfect, but for a MK3 has to be diesel or the 3.0 V6 for me.
