Wiggle Wart Crankbaits Explained and How To Identify Them
Вставка

- One of the most popular crankbaits ever made is the OG Storm Wiggle Wart. When Rapala purchased Storm Lures from John Storm some things changed. In just a few years anglers began to notice lots of differences. The plastic wasn’t as dense and the sound was way different. In this video I show you how to identify between the two and several great options for Wiggle Wart style crankbaits.
*Update. I made a mistake, I got in a hurry. All the warts are TWO piece baits. However, the originals are REALLY defined. Sometimes it almost looks like a bubble. The easiest way is always the stamp on the bottom of the bill! It will say WIGGLE WART, not STORM

Thank you, very informative. I fished 1980-2001 and own several old warts, saw that they got expensive on ebay. I wont be eating them anymore since they cause cancer. :) Thanks again.
Love that lure for bass and my 60's lazy ike for northern & muskie! plus, the good ole red/white/chrome spoon. I just love any lure that throws em in the boat!
Cool vid. My parents bought a couple of boarded up homes next to their property they called ‘hoarder homes’. Packed to the ceiling with 50 years worth collectibles and garbage. Ended up getting 4 OG Warts and a box full of other vintage lures I haven’t identified yet.
I just inherited an old tackle box with some old original warts and some bagleys I've never seen. Thanks for the video.
The original wiggle wart is my favourite crankbait of all time.
It’s amazing how expensive some of these warts are. I have a few old ones none worth much, but I would get rid of them. I’ve got one in a crawdad color that I’ve caught some good fish on. Great little crank baits.
I wouldn’t get rid of them
Thank you. I had a few of these and you helped me out. One was a basspro exlusive suspending model. Thank you sir.
Of course! Happy fishing!
Great video! Man all I hear is how good the original wiggle wart was, wish I could fish em. I always keep my eyes open on Craigslist for someone getting rid of old tackle with some old ones in there. Great video and I will be making my next purchase at tackle freaks!
Jim Werderitch thanks. There is obviously some things I missed but I wanted this to be more of a general video not just a watt collector video.
Hi,,, thank you for video & Explain about crank bits,,, really nice colors
That Spro Rock Crawler MD has been great for me.
You have been putting out some good content! Thanks dude!
I actually just picked up a new wart and a curve 55 to try and capitalize on our prespawn crawfish eaters here in ok. We just came out of a freeze moving into low 40's at and around 60+ during the day by the end of the week so it should start picking up around here.
sure do bud
i love seeing videos on subjectd techniques ect that ive never seen before. never seen a wiggle wart type baits before 🖒
Great video bud, I need to stop in the shop and pick some coffins up if you got any in stock.
I have some mag warts are they pre rapala?
Sweet. Thanks. Scott McKee, Valerie McKee, Michael Priolo.
Great bit of history 👍
Great in-depth video. Have you tried the old wiggle o’s?
Ray C no sir but I have some. Thanks
Ray C yes I love them your the only person I have heard mention them
This answered a lot of questions
Thanks for the info and keep up the good work!
I have 3 of the original Wiggle Warts here in the UK that I never use as most of the waters I fish are shallow. I had no idea they are rare :)
You still have those rods in stock? Ill need to get a couple
Yes sir. I’ll throw em on the web Monday.
I'm old, back in the 70's and 80's any tackle shop along the Lake Erie area you went into was loaded with wiggle warts! All you had to do was drag them behind the boat ( troll ) to catch walleye. The Wee warts and Wee steelie warts were equally as good, the first series came in a plastic package with a red label, then a blue label.
They worked equally as well for bass! Bandit 200 series aren't bad either, but not as good as the first Wiggle warts.
pdbandit1 yep! I worked at another shop when I was 18. Sold all our thunder sticks and deep jr thunder sticks on eBay for walleye Guys. We had a wall of warts. If I only knew...
LOL, I think those became the " hot " lures for walleye after the wiggle warts? I started stocking up on warts after I saw some of my brother's accidental smallie catches on them while walleye fishing.
Always informative 💯👍🏼
Underwater video showing the old vs new Wart action would be AWESOME
Don Holt Milliken Fishing did one. Check it out
Old JDM warts have the wiggle wart stamped on the side near the tail.
what about the snap on the wiggle wart? you always hear people say dont fish a snap some believe in em. take it off and replace or leave it on? do you think taking the snap off an original defeats the purpose of thrown an OG Wiggle wart?
Thomas Robey I don’t use snaps on any of my crankbaits. Split ring only or tie direct.
I’m not a huge Wart thrower
TheBaitmanTV I don’t throw em either just curious. I don’t throw snaps on anything. Love what your doing, way better than these fishing challenge youtubers
@@thomasrobey9851 being a steelheader for nearly 30 years, I have always run wee warts, wiggle warts and hotntots with a small coastlock snap. Never a snap with any kind of swivel. A small swivel improves the hunting our searching wobble, but decreases diving depth a very tiny amount, maybe 5% or so. I always leave permanent your points on, like the double eye of the wiggle warts and the tie link of the hotntot. I always remove regular split rings on crankbaits that come with them, and run a coastlock straight to the hard eye.
@@thomasrobey9851 I've had some that only run with the snaps and I have had some that cant run with snaps
How’s that rod?
clark lee for 99.99 it’s an awesome shallow crank and 10ft diver rod
a really good similar crank is the bitsy pond minnow
Hm I could've sworn a good indicator of old warts was also the rough line where the two pieces came together but you said it was a one piece?
PTdoubleOT your correct I made a boo boo in speaking. I made a note in the description
all good just wanted to me sure the ones i bought weren't knock offs with wiggle wart stamped on the bill lol
Great video
Trust me... I Ihave a couple dozen of the old ones and I bought eight of the new ones last year did not work as well.
The Cotton Cordell wiggle O's are fish catching machines. Just as good as the old wiggle warts in my opinion.
That’s a great one
great Breakdown"
an education, thanks!
Check out Brads Wiggler.
Wont considered the strom kockoff that rapala took over
?
He’s saying the warts made after Rapala bought Storm suck!
If you want a hunting wiggle wart knock off try the cotten cordell wiggle O
Major craft zoner is another good imitator
Robert Ramirez yes lotta Knock offs. Tried to stick to major companies
If you want a hunting action bait, just get an Megabass S crank.
Ray choi doesn’t run as deep
Dude the old original warts did not have clear bills!!!!
Yes they did...
Some did. Many did not. There were natural series wee warts and wiggle warts with clear, or semi clear lips. Most of the salmon and steelhead colors were opaque lipped.
