Arrived here because I finally found the Santa Cruz Wheels of Fire tracklisting… Thank you for uploading this. Really nice to hear it in proper quality instead of taped from a TV-set playing the VHS haha!
I'll NEVER forget that night in Maryvale late '84. JFA played our band house party for FREE. (there may have been treats). It was $3 for a beer cup, $5 got you that, plus a tab of San Francisco lsd. Cops came. Helicopter up above. We cut the house lights, & 100 tripping skater Punx got a light show from above. The kids fled. Us drinking age "big kids" drank the rest of the beer.
I remember my friend Joey Muñoz buying this at a local record store (probably Neal's Records in Glendale, CA). I wanted to listen to it and he thought I wouldn't like it, calling it "skater music", I think. (He was a skater himself but I guess he thought my not being a member of the tribe precluded my interest in the style of music he enjoyed.) Well, Joey ended up letting me play the e.p. on my turntable and I recorded it to a cassette. As it turns out, I enjoyed the music very much. I loved it. I think I carried around the song "Desert Jewel" in my head for 30 years before finally discovering what it was called and who it was by.
I used to put out punk zines in the 80’s. Placebo Records sent me a package with this 7” and a Sun City Girls album to review. I still love this short record. Thanks for putting it up!
@@IMONFIREPLEASEPUTMEOUT I saw them in Allentown, PA (Oliver J’s) in the summer of ‘88. Played with the Adolescents. I think they toured together. JFA had a big school bus parked on the street. It was a great show but I was bummed because Rikk and Paul were doing the vocals for the Ads as Tony was out of the band for awhile and singing for Flower Leperds.
Was looking for this song for years. I love the energy and sudden changes in tone and speed. I was curious if SHAZAM the song ID app would recognize it. It didn't this song is too obscure.
Thank you for infinity for posting this. Bought this record in the 90s on a whim and i think to this day, is some of the most emotional music I've ever heard.
This EP was the period when I first saw them - in Ann Arbor at Joe's Star Lounge. They played two shows, an all ages matinee & an 18+ night show. I was underage but we just walked in the back door for the night gig. I smoked them out in their school bus. They were all really cool except Bam Bam. He was a major dick. It's a shame bc I always admired his drumming. He was rockin double kicks on that tour.

These are my favorite types of comments, it's the reason I post all these videos. Thanks for sharing.
Your friend sounds like a fucking dick
they totally pulled off a sound overall. love all their stuff
JFA, to me, had 3 big influences: Surf, Dead Kennedys, & The Damned.
