Tony, I watched this video and I was inspired by your results. I went online and purchased one of these machines. I do hope that one day it will actually arrive. So far it has been lost and nobody at Vevor has been able to bring any results. I will try again tomorrow. This is by no means an insult to you. I still want one of these machines, I am just going to have to wait longer.
1 ton arbor press can handle small stuff. Where this press might be great for is larger pieces like wallet blanks so to speed up the cutting. O already use a 1 ton arbor press but would upgrade to this press before I would buy a larger arbor press. I did have a 5 ton arbor press but a family member stole it out of my barn and never returned it, so to keep peace I just bought a cheap harbor freight 1 ton. It works for small stuff like key globs and leather straps but would take time to use an arbor press for larger stuff. It would work bit I would lose to much time in doing it with the one I have. Thank you for the review and video. You did a great review.
I took a gamble and ordered one of these about a year ago. It is one heavy mfer. I’m new to the leather working world but I’ve been wanting to get more and more immersed. I wasn’t sure if this product stacked up to others, it seemed to be doing the job for me after a little practice with it. Glad to see my favorite leather worker giving it good reviews.
This video has me itching to get one. It would cut out hours of scissor time and keep things uniform and perfect. Is yours doing what you want? Are you happy with your purchase?
I bought one of these back in April to do a small die-cut parts run. Ran it to cut a run of 650 parts because I can't afford one of the pricy die cutting machines. It took a little bit to get each side leveled out. It's HEAVY and works great. The only thing I did was put some synthetic grease on the surface where the cam bearings meet the springs and replaced the cutting board type material with the red clicker board surface. That tends to be a little easier on the dies.
Interestingly enough, I got the very same model a few months back. The price is right for this press and considering that you also need to buy dies, it gets pretty small as you expand your library. Just need to sell all those leather items now ;)
I ordered and received one recently. It was packaged poorly and came in a damaged crate. The parts had come loose in shipping, and since the crate was damaged the parts were missing completely out of the box. I now have to find nuts that match, keys for the rotating shaft so the bearings stay on it, and have to completely rebuild and level it again. You got one that was taken care of in shipment for sure….😂
I literally just bought the exact same one of these a few weeks ago. I immediately bought a slightly bigger cutting board. Dialing it it with the screws is a pain, simply because some dies are bigger than others, so you have to break out that huge heavy wrench to adjust the screws. Also mine didn't come in a box. It was barely held together with plastic and tape. Final thoughts? It does the job fairly well. Sometimes you have to pull that lever a few times for the die to cut cleanly, depending if placement of the die is more toward the back or the front.
I bought one of these recently and to be honest, I was pretty disappointed all the way through. First off, it didn't come in a box at all, it was wrapped in plastic wrap. It didn't come with any hardware at all, including the handle, and one of the rubber legs was broken. It also had some weird shims screwed onto the bottom that I had to remove. I contacted support and they said they'd send a handle within two weeks, but they never did. I was able to jury rig a handle, but it never quite worked right, and without the wrenches included it was very difficult to adjust anything, and without the hex wrench especially the cam shafts get loose and they've messed up some of my dies. The thing needs near constant adjustment, too. It's very fiddly. In the end, I just made my own clicker press with a hydraulic press and some steel plates. Works a lot better, wound up being a lot cheaper even. If I am being honest, this thing is more of a hassle than it's worth, and especially since my order got screwed up.
It would be a great asset for die cutting other materials that aren't leather. But if there are no instructions for its use, how do you know you are using it or setting it up correctly?
I love mine. Now if I could just source inexpensive quality dies. 😉 I broke some 3d printed stamps so be careful to have the stamp centered on the tray.
I got an uneven bolt situation, not square to the front, which is just sloppy, but it doesn’t appear to affect the ability to cut stuff…we’ll see how it goes
A few days ago I received the cutter that I ordered. I'm new to all this so maybe I'm doing something wrong cause mine doesn't work. When moving the handle back and forth the top plate does not go up and down. Is there a trick to get the plate to release? What am I doing wrong? I have contacted the manufacturer a few times and haven't received any help. Any ideas would be appreciated.
I got the same results with a$50 1 ton arbor press and a press foot from the Arborpressguy, total under$100 investment. I appreciate the review, and wish it was permissible to get died made from Tony's patterns.
My leather got stuck in the die!!! My husband finially had to get the leather cut and it out. Maybe my leather was too thick? My die also made the stitch holes so maybe that was why?
If your dies are mounted in wood and don’t have any sort of hole(s) through the wood to push the leather out with, I have two pieces of advice: 1) mount some firm foam roughly the same thickness as the exposed part of the blade on several places around the die, near the blade. This will automatically push the leather off when you raise the press. 2) drill some holes in at least one or two places inside of the die blades so you use your finger or a stick or other tool to push the leather out from the back side. I hope this helps.
Its a great machine U need to practice to use it well it can cut anything with a single click and u have to rise it a little more so that u don't have to put pressure
If during the leveling process you have the handle pressed and a die on the plastic you'll have a clean cut and no damage to the plastic.... Given you use different dies all the same hight,,, taller dies would still damage the board of course...
Hi Tony. I got this press using your code, thank you. It was extremely useful. Now my question is where or how do you make your cutters? I would like to have my own design made as what’s on the Chinese market limits me a bit. Thank you. ❤
I've had one of these for over a year now and it's wonderful! However, being all steel, they can be prone to patina with rust in a humid environment. I rub mine down with Johnsons paste wax to keep it I good shape.

What thickness of dies can be used? Texas Custom Dies reccommended 1.25" Does this press accept that size?
Yes, I am going to buy one next week...I like that...
Now we need cutting dies with many of your small medium patterns 🤩🤩🤩

I ordered one based on your review. I look forward to having it speed up my cutting of small/midsize items.
An update sir?

hello and thank you for this video, where can we find the stencils for cutting leather? friendship Alain
Hi. I had one of these machines and the pstons did not last 12 months!

thank you dieselpunk, how does someone go about making die's?
Just got one of these and I'm looking forward to using it to squish many things.
Is this good to cut a cardboard with it ?
Got one of these. It needs proper bearings, as it wears pretty quickly where the horizontal bar goes through the two uprights.
Hello. How do you adjust the height? My dies don’t fit
Just ordered mine! Thank you for your honest review.
Update after using? Thank you in advance
@@keystonepirate2534 I got rid of mine because I was having issues with it. But I'm looking into the updated one they put out. Tony has a video on it
@@compassleather thank you so much 🙏 have a great day

If ordered, where can I get custom dies made ?
Thanks Tony. Informative and pretty entertaining also. Love your music selections!
Is this suitable for paper?
What's the hole with the Allen screw on the plate in the front?
Any chance you might be offering your Plague Doctor mask in clicker dyes? I’d buy this machine and the dyes if you did!
I love mine. Now if I could just source inexpensive quality dies. 😉 I broke some 3d printed stamps so be careful to have the stamp centered on the tray.
Can't wait for my die cutter machine to arrive, ordered a similar one from another brand.

Would this work with cutting 7-8oz leather
Sirve para grabar cuero a presión?

I bought one months ago and had to carry it upstairs on my own, very heavy
Couild you cut thin sheets of non ferrous metal like brass or copper?
not really no

I was about to post about that. The hydraulic press is a lot less muscle as well.
How do you manage without a large press surface?

Weaver Leather Supply out of Ohio does an excellent job as well for custom dies.
My plates are level side to side but not front to back.
I want one
Thank you!! 😊
So.... your giant screws just turn? interesting. interesting. I turned to a youtube channel because mine don't.
