Thanks for all the helpful feedback here! Next week I'm gonna do a small recap of the week, be it records of the maps and pb progression etc, followed by the new week discovery. I don't know how long the weekly shorts will be interesting but for now I'm really hyped playing them
I would love if you just get like top 100 on each map in discovery and then go back to get top 10s in the same video. If you play the maps on release its more exiting if some more people had time to play them.
I really like the idea of regular release, short maps with lots of skill-based optimizations. Not so much quick learn, but very huntable, and I think the weekly competition format will keep things interesting.
I'm thinking about what could actually work nicely with this, not sure yet. Like a recap of my own pbs improvements etc at the end of the week or a discovery + short recap on last weeks wr's.
@@Scrapie I'd make the recap a seperate video. If you make it a story as suggested you can show your own pb's, include moments of your competition like Wirtual and show world records.
@@Scrapie yeah, pbs and strategy changes on your way to your final time plus the time reveal at the end - so basically a summary of the hunt for every track. I would watch the crap out of these!
I'm honestly shocked at how well executed this was and how well it seems to have the finger on the pulse in terms of community engagement, accessibility, and content creation. (1) It is well integrated into the UI. Not too intrusive, not overwhelming (2) It recognizes that the heart of trackamnia is driving, and the maps are perfetly drivable (3) there are "tiers" of strategies with increased skill ceilings (4) It encourages people to check out a VARIETY of streams and/or post to things like reddit to steal lines. (5) the maps seem the right length with the right amount of jank so that hunting stays interesting . 30 seconds would be too long with an "identity" trick (6) there is enough jank so that the maps don't get hyper-optimized on day 1 and the leader board deosn't get clogged, but not too much that they feel unfair... I'm just impressed.
I mean to me I think it makes sense, (but still genius, not taking away from it) the LOL maps and minis are always the most popular in the live rooms and the campaign is the most popular way the map is played outside of cotd. and this solves the problem that cotd has (the requirement that I need to be on at 1PM during the work week since I'm US east lmao) very smart in particular to hide the records though, even tho I'm just sitting here watching a pro do the maps anyway it is kind of insane for community engagement like you're saying which I did not even consider. but I think we can all agree that hylis COOKED with these maps man, strats aren't obvious and it's awesome
I love getting to watch your's, Granady's and Wirtual's videos on these tracks so close together. It shows all your thinking patterns quite well. Kick their butts this week and have a happy Christmas scrapie!
I definitely think that including a quick watch of the world records from the previous week's maps would be a nice addition to these discovery videos. A separate hunting summary video would be cool as well, for the people who can't/don't want to watch the grinding vods, though I imagine that'd be a lot of editing work. This series/gamemode is super fun so far though!
These maps are so interesting for newer players because there are generally one or two slightly obscure but still fundamental rules of Trackmania which you have to learn for the map the even make sense. I really hope that the community versions keep this theme or that this is incorporated into some kind of new training campaign. At a minimum I hope these will have to have a theme of some kind in the future.

Weekly shorts feel great as a new player. The competition feels very accessible and the short maps make it easy to focus on learning specific techniques. I've been watching TM on UA-cam for years now, but this is the first time I actually started playing the game seriously.
These maps were even more fun than the last group. I love how each map is small but has a trick you need to learn to get it done. The Plastic Map was so interesting I laughed when I figured it out.
The strat I thought of for map 8 (but am not good enough to do) is full speed up the left side of the uphill, cut the penalty dirt corner possibly full speed (gets a bit of air) through the checkpoint triangle, and land in a bug slide. Then downhill like you were doing. No idea if this would end up faster but it seemed fast and dries the wheels without much sacrificed speed or distance.
I'd watch a recap of the most notable records/improvements that came from everyone from your perspective, this is awesome already so that sounds even more awesome
Video idea! Since the records are all so close I think it could be a great idea where you have your record replay side by side with top 1 record, for example, to see how marginal is the difference. Maybe you can do a side by side top 2 vs top 1 and then top 1 vs you. You can kinda do it like a "reaction" type of video discussing strats and why one has the advantage over other (mby one didn't get a good landing, slid out and lost 1 spd etc). This can be a weekly thing where you explain strats and why/how they work - Weekly Strats with Scrapie!
Before Granady startet his Week 2 discovery he reacted to all WRs of Week 1 before - maybe this is also sth. for you, some reaction content before next weeks discovery? :D

A recap video, espacially if you can show other players taking your records while you focus on other maps could be cool. If others are shown to take the record I feel like it´d be really engaging to just see the fight for top spots.
I think I found a strat to bounce of a present in the first map one shortcut it saves two tenths by hitting the back wheel of the yellow and red present which is plastic
highlight compilation video would be sick, much better than just watching top records at the end of the week, but showing ur grind to fight for top times
Commenting as asked (before finishing the video so I don't forget) to say: absolutely yes, a grind highlight video would be awesome, *but* I totally understand how that requires a lot more editing time and might not be financially viable. So, many of us would enjoy it, but I get it if it never happens.
Highlight video would be really cool! I watched the VoDs but those can be slogs to get through when you have to sift through maybe 20-30 minutes of resets before you get a couple of runs with good enough starts. Maybe instead of three hour long VoDs you can condense it into a smaller section of good attempts and/or interesting or funny moments or conversations.
Scrapie, I know you stream on twitch, dont have time for that. This weekly challenges will bring more content on your channel. However, I think it will be good if you can make content more often. Merry christmas!
A recap showing all pbs with maybe some funny chat moments sprinkled in would be a really nice format for viewers like me with the attention span of a toddler (aka UA-cam audience)

Looking at the “cheater” I don’t think they did anything on purpose to cheat? Maybe? It’s just really weird how the replay starts like almost at the end. I have NEVER seen a cheated replay that looked like that. Seems more like a glitch on Nadeo’s end than intentional cheat. Like… they were doing legitimate runs and somehow something went wrong and the server decided the run happened midway through. Possibly playing these maps on a public server? But I’m also really surprised you lost in general. Seeing you two battle for that one ice map and then you’re not even in the top 5??? HUH??? What the hell did they cook after you finished hunting that map?

Scrapie had a better discovery run than I had after like 30 minutes...
If it makes you feel any better, it took Granady around 30 min to get the record on the first map which Scrapie beat within 4 minutes.
Took me like 6 hours to beat his discovery map 1 time lmao

on map 7 i do instant airbrake at the end and then you get a front flip after the bounce and you stay low to the ground

I think these maps are amazing. Week 1 felt like normal tracks that all had a wierd specific trick to save time that is a bit more out of the box

Content creators shouldn't be allowed to release ANY content about this mode, until the week ends. It completely ruins the point of the mode.
The week 1 maps were good, but I think 4/5 of these are absolute bangers. Map 4 is kinda lame though.
