Quick idea for a chessly course: time management for beginners. I know it is unusual and probably extremely difficult to construct (perhaps an addition to an existing course could make more sense). But i see many beginners struggling with it. For example, in game 1, it does not make sense that black ended with 5 minutes in a 10 minute game, only to blunder the whole dark square structure, including a rook. Edit 1: Ne5 with more time than the start of the game. Edit 2: QxR and fork blunder with 9 minutes.
I tried Chessly for free the last 7 days to refine some openings (I’m looking to play competitive OTB in the new year). It has helped so much with refining my Dutch Defence and Scotch games. I will be looking at other courses too once the trial ends. Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas to all that celebrate, had a great time with Chessly free trial, I appreciated that I could try it without having to provide a Card. A very rusty 1850 can sometimes be 900. It's incredibly frustrating, but basically what happens is that you move too quickly on instinct, but your once well-honed instincts are completely gone despite the fact that you still have the base knowledge of a higher level. I've been through it multiple times... I quit playing for a year or two and I'm 900 again, despite the fact that I have the basic knowledge of someone much higher rated.
even GMs miss some simple moves. As Gothamchess once put it, when you have a high foundation of chess skill, you can un-learn stuffs, superseding concept. It's kinda why it clicks weird when you play a move that a newbie or inter-level wouldn't have played. You kinda see all the moves to the point you start to overlook and miss some of them. You can't miss mate when it's already in your head, you can miss like a pawn blunder. The difference of 1 pawn blunder to change the game for 1800s and 2100s to think about is vast, that's how hard it is. Games get less chaotic as they move up the rating ladder but they are more difficult. The 300-point difference doesn't seem like much on a chessboard, but that's the neat part. Endgame is where it is more obvious I suppose

Levy, I am a 29 year old who started playing chess last year, thanks to you. Thanks for sharing the knowledge you possess. I promise, there are sane, non brain-rot spewing people who really enjoy your work. I’ve fallen in love with the game. @@NoirOrchestre Even the chess engine rates the player playing with the black pieces as 1950. Even if it is not spectacular, the gameplay was fairly accurate. 90% accuracy is not something to scoff at. That being said, his assumption that somebody below 1500 could not be familiar with the Najdorf variation of the Sicilian defence is a gross underestimation in today's era when chess openings can be self taught using abundant resources freely available on the internet. Had he said the same about another rarer variation like, say, the Taimanov Sicilian, I would still have agreed. But the Dragon and Najdorf variations are highly popular and games at the highest level employing these openings have near about flooded UA-cam. 23:33 bruh, no 1800s play crazy like that, even in 1 min bullet. It looked like 2 people on drugs playing a chess game lol. I know the opening was okay, but surely it’s under 1000
You should make each GTE the same amount of games, and at the end add up the difference between your guesses and the actual elo’s to get a final score. The lower the better obv. Could have a competitive element to it trying to top your all time score and whatnot
I have a few suggestions for Chessly: First, more courses on tactics (since chess is 99% tactics, as they say). Second, additional d4 openings like the Catalan or Queen’s Gambit would be great. Lastly, a course on the King’s Gambit would be amazing-it’s one of the best openings for beginners, as it leads to tactical positions, exciting games, and helps improve calculation skills. Btw, after the free trial i immediatly bought a membership. The new concept is amazing😊.

I won't even stay up late to hear those magical reindeers click. I just want you here tonight, holdin' on to me so tight! What more can I do? All I want for Christmas is you! Wow, all the lights are shining so brightly everywhere, and the sound of children's laughter fills the air, and everyone is singing! I hear those sleigh bells ringing... Santa won't you bring me the one I really need, won't you please bring my baby to me? Oh, I don't want a lot for Christmas, this is all I'm askin' for. Levy flexing his math skills and accent skills in this video. Makes it a great video
23:33 bruh, no 1800s play crazy like that, even in 1 min bullet. It looked like 2 people on drugs playing a chess game lol. I know the opening was okay, but surely it’s under 1000
Just got the Gotham chess board for Christmas. Just started chess a few months ago and I am more hyped to learn ! Chess board is great!!
Merry Christmas Levy, and everyone else
You should make each GTE the same amount of games, and at the end add up the difference between your guesses and the actual elo’s to get a final score. The lower the better obv. Could have a competitive element to it trying to top your all time score and whatnot
Guess the Elo: 0:01
wow that's a low elo i didn't think it went below 100
The video starts at 0:00.
This person out here doing God's work
Merry Christmas to you too, if youre celebrating.
I subscribed and love it. Chessly is giving Chessable a run for the money and shaping up becoming the premier learning tool for most of us.
Levy I wrote a song just for you:
I don't want a lot for Christmas,
there is just one thing I need.
I don't care about the presents
underneath the Christmas tree.
I just want you for my own,
more than you will ever know.
Make my wish come true!
All I want for Christmas is you.
Yeah!
I don't want a lot for Christmas,
there is just one thing I need.
Don't care about those presents underneath the Christmas tree.
I don't need to hang my stocking there upon the fireplace.
Santa Claus won't make me happy with a toy on Christmas day,
I just want you for my own, more than you could ever know.
Make my wish come true,
all I want for Christmas is you!
Ooh, baby.
I won't ask for much this Christmas, I won't even wish for snow.
I'm just gonna keep on waiting
underneath the mistletoe.
I won't make a list and send it to the North Pole for St. Nick.
I won't even stay up late to hear those magical reindeers click.
I just want you here tonight, holdin' on to me so tight!
What more can I do?
All I want for Christmas is you!
Wow, all the lights are shining so brightly everywhere,
and the sound of children's laughter fills the air,
and everyone is singing!
I hear those sleigh bells ringing...
Santa won't you bring me the one I really need, won't you please bring my baby to me?
Oh, I don't want a lot for Christmas,
this is all I'm askin' for.
I just wanna see my baby standin' right outside my door.
I just want you for my own, more than you could ever know.
Make my wish come true,
all I want for Christmas...
is you!
You!
Oh, oh, oh-oh oh-oh-oh.
Wow-oh, oh, oh-oh-oh.
Ooh-ooh, oh...
are u sure u wrote this. it seems familiar
That’s a sign of a good song
Glad that my adblock in my head blocks nearly all about Magnus or Chessly allowing me to watch most of the videos here in absolute silence ;)
8:18 But my sponsorblock can..
Sometimes, I'll play a move, and I don't even know where it's going. I just hope I find it along the way
Loved 40:44
Just as reference, my favorite Chess series is Win at Chess, which is having been missing lately
