Eating out is our biggest waste of $$$. To our shame, I added up what we spent eating out in December, and it was over $800. I’ve committed to not eating out this month!!
It's amazing those small meal expenses can creep up! That sounds like you've got a great plan to start the year strong Myra, wishing you the best of luck! 😃
Ours was similar and it was shocking because it wasn’t big fancy meals, it was a lot of mod pizza, Panda Express, etc. Shocking how quickly that adds up!
I feel that. That's the situation I am in now. We really (my fiance and I) have a bad habit of eating out.
•second job $325
•donate plasma $50
•cancel phone insurance $30
•stop random spending $100
•brew own coffee $150
•auto save $125
•cut cable $80
•skip eating out $116
•use cold water $17
•switch to generic brands $60
Great ideas...for me it's the Amazon purchases!
Thanks!
@@shahilanathan8067 oh same lol
What is Plasma?
@@sadieharandi9584lmao easy money
Dining out and subscriptions can be silent and sneaky ways that siphon off your money. Once you become aware of the little things that are eating away at your ability to save it becomes that much easier to start cutting them out. Great video Rachel!
Llllll
Ideas start at 3:53.
Thank you 🙏! I was wondering that
Thanks bro ❤
Almost everyone overspends. Even when you think you're living paycheck to paycheck there are likely things you can cut down. Not buying any fast food or coffee would make a huge difference for most people.
Thank you!!!! You and you’re dad helped me buy my first home! Focusing on staying debt free!!
The video is very interesting, 👍👍 but have you heard of the DeHealth team 🙄??. Everyone says they are turning the understanding of medicine upside down 😰!!! Does anyone have any info on it????
I’m a foodie so before the pandemic I used spend tons of money on restaurants. During the pandemic most restaurants only had to go and I don’t like that so I stopped going out. I got so used to it now, that I hardly go out to eat unless it’s a special occasion and I set out an amount I want to spend. The good thing is that I love to cook, so this has helped me
We are step 7. Our son is graduating debt free from college this spring. Don’t forget to tithe to The Lord. You can you can never out give the Lord. The only money you take to Heaven is the money you give away
This is a great video for a new budget ME. I’m in lots of CC debt and want to get rid of that like yesterday
Happy new year! Thanks for tips. Every little bit helps.
Great tips! My fam and I saved just over $300 in coupons on fast food, groceries, purchases, etc. in 2021.
I like how you break down things practical daily advice. I get Lost in over thinking it I kinda need to be told exactly what to do. Thanks
Thank you for Inspiring me. I needed to here this. Im on baby step 6 I've been out of debt for 20 years. But I need an extra $1000. A month extra on my mortgage. I will get a job.👍
I learned how to shop my fridge freezer and cupboards before I go grocery' shopping and we literally only spend about 50$ a week buying fillers for grocery's like milk, eggs, cheese, fruits and veggies. We buy bulk alot too. And end up only having to restock those bulk items about every 2 months or more. Non perishables of course.
I'm watching this from a casino
Currently my Hubby is on medical leave for 3 months. Our Emergency fund will supplement my income along with a bare bones budget.
A bare bones budget has helped us in the past, during times when money was tight. It's definitely possible.
I feel like what you’re saying is that you need to have $1,000 in your account already in order to save it each day. Which I don’t. I can’t pay myself everyday, and my paychecks are not $1,000.
Please give us some tips on low income!
I understand! My whole budget is $1000 per month. How can I save the whole amount and still pay tithing, put some in savings, and then pay for all the needs during the month? I like Rachel, but she's a little out of touch with some of us. Don't give up, though, saving a little bit each paycheck will add up over time.
Don't go to Starbucks
Then you have an income problem
Invest in yourself and become a higher wage earner. Dont settle for being a low income person.
I got a roommate and am saving $950 a month…this is my difference for 2022.
Love store brands except for cereal. When the store puts their company name on it they want you to like it to remember their brand. I love the much lower prices on basics like lactose free milk, salsa, frozen veggies and pharmacy stuff, but for me, not cereal.
It's just a matter of retraining your tastes. I was raised on name brand Cheerios. When I got married and had children I found that I couldn't afford that brand so I tried others. At first they tasted strange, but after a few times I forgot what the original had tasted like and never looked back. Funny thing is that when we went to visit grandma and she served Cheerios, our children thought they tasted weird and didn't like them. So it's not that one is better or worse; just different and you can get used to just about anything.
I found your channel yesterday, and the 7 steps are very helpful guide. My only debt is the mortgage. I am in the 3rd steps. Thank you very much for your kind help.
I found in my credit union app, there's a save for emergency fund, which automatically pulls a set amount from your account every pay day, and puts it into a separate account. I was really excited when I found that
I have never had a streaming subscription. UA-cam has a lot of free shows & movies to keep you entertained for a long time. & I'll watch things with other people who have subscriptions. Doesn't make sense to have any subscriptions in the early baby steps.
And here me saying… I have a 2nd job. I don’t have phone insurance. But my career is the only one that provides and extra SIM card linked to my phone number (I searched). I don’t drink coffee. The cable I have are free from my cell phone provider and free trials. The eating out part I do a lot, but I work outside too. Cold water? I don’t pay bills (my rent has everything included).
Here’s another idea: cancel Ramsey plus and that’s another $129 dollars saved.!😀 just a practical thought.
I always buy store brands. If you got a lidl or Aldi these stores are great.
1) 2nd job
2) donate plasma
3) cancel📱insurance, switch lower plan, carrier
4) stop random spending
5) brew own coffee/30 days
6) auto save/10%
7) cut cable
8) skip eating out/ pack lunches
8) use cold H2O fo wash
9) switch to generic brand
So what advise do you give someone on SSDI and can't work or pick up another job? I live in California and have been living full time the last 6 years in an rv. I live very frugal don't go out to eat and make all my coffee at home. Live as cheap as possible. But let me tell you with the increase in gas, groceries, and rent in california it makes it so hard to live sometimes.
Is there a family member you could be roommates with?
California is no joke expensive. Consider moving somewhere with better cost of living.
Is that rv mobile? I would move to another state.
Good tips Rachel 😄 👍🏽 I had to humble myself and buy certain store brand stuff 😫
Not to be that guy, but the person needing to save $1,000 (the target audience) is not going to be spending $150 on coffee.
Maybe I’m wrong though. I do swipe my card at the vending machine at work.
I could have just convinced myself in this comment conversation to myself that already I do actually probably spend $5/day at the vending machine.
Dang, that’s crazy. That adds up quick.
I make my coffee at home. I WISH I was spending 150 a month in coffee so I could stop and save it. But no. The worst I do is buy a candy bar 1x a week after my grocery run as a reward for being an adult.
I have friends who have no savings and go to Starbucks 2 a day most days. As a matter of fact I have a coffee date with one today and the other tomorrow. My problem is my social outings are always around food.
@ Patrick good point. Maybe someone’s “coffee “ is someone else’s “snacks “ or whatever. Thanks for your post
Thank you! My friends always make fun of me since I switched store brand. Thank you for saying this.
$2.25 plus tax for a Small coffee at the shop closest to where I work.
The thing about this pandemic it has me scared to spend money on enjoyment aka traveling.
Biggest budget killers is really eating out. One moderate priced meal at a restaurant for two thats $40 Is a decent amount of groceries..atleast 3 or 4 meals..instead of just one.
@ Mark true. I usually split meals when I go out. Save a lot and try new places all the time too.
Biggest out going in UK is price of fuel for car it's so expensive
@@davidtrice8307 What is the price now you pay? In Florida I pay about $3.10 a gallon or .86 cents a liter now.
I invest 15% of my money but not for retirement. If you live your life thinking you will retire, then you in the wrong job.
Yes and no. Some people retire and live comfortably and happily doing the things they want. Others work their whole lives doing something they enjoy. Nothing wrong with either.
Is it okay if I did baby step 2 before baby step 1 ? I worked really hard to pay off my car and student loans during college. I was able to pay off my car last year 2021 and my student loans this spring 2022. However this slowed my building my $1000 for baby step 1. I was only introduced to Dave Ramsey radio show my freshman year in college. I just have always hated being in debt even before this.
THANKS! No joke, I reduced my phone bill by almost $30 a month ☑️ Took off insurance and some add-ons I forgot I had 😍
Love the blouse!
I think that’s excellent!
Myself learing to the good .. I don't tell.
I live outside EEUU., I want to know, why are 1,000 dollars to save. is 1,000 like 50% of income or that equivalent to the minimum salary. Enjoy a lot that type of information
I automatically start with baby step 3. Save for a deep emergency fund.
hi Rachel. I live in Romania where the mean income is 700 euros=> 1000 usd. Please share some tips :)
Is that 700 per week or per month? The emergency fund is more than a new set of tyres or insurance gap. From what Rachel said in the USA, 8 hours of minimum wage for 4 week would get you enough. So maybe have a look at the cost of possible emergencies. Perhaps aim for 100 then 200 etc and try and at least have 350 and then aim for 700. I cut costs by not buying new clothes except when really needed and not eating out etc. I think it depends on your stage of life a little and what you can find to cut out and what extra jobs you can find or what you can sell. Good luck!
@@tanyapinnock2347this is per month. Thank you for the tips🤗
I have a budgeting excel and guide myself on the 50/30/20 rule
Consumer debt is the worst. Stay away from it. Save for the important things you want
Live way below your means. If you are not a high income earner, live in an area with lower property and income taxes. Put 1,000.00 in S&P 500. Mutual Fund or ETF fund like VTSAX , VOO, VTI . PUT it in a ROTH IRA. Sit on it and forget it and over time you will have grown a little nest egg!
Not sure why you want ALL debt paid off before invessting?? If you begin investing early and over time, you will magically grow your net worth.
Retirement will be here before you know it!
Donate plasma?!! Isn't that quite a serious procedure?
Yes, someone said in comments above said that you only get paid if you do it a number of times which is dangerous for your health.
Any tips on families with FOOD ALLERGIES. We used to buy all store brand, but not don't have that luxury. A loaf of bread used to be $1 not its $8-9, we're going into debt because of food. We do nothing else, only pay bills, groceries & gas.
I know what you mean. I’m allergic to everything, so I mostly eat plain meat and vegetables, and our grocery bill is definitely way bigger because of me. I have to cut on other stuff to afford it. I can never eat out anyway, so at least I save on that 🤷♀️
Making homemade is cheaper but definitely not as convenient.
Does saving money potentially turn into hoarding?
Not that I'm an expert, but I could see that, if someone buys in bulk to save money, it could turn into hoarding. If they think "I already spent the money on this, and I don't know if I'll need it one day" could turn into hoarding a lot of things they don't need. I feel like it could come down to if the person who's saving money also knows when to get rid of stuff or knows how often they use that stuff
@@yvonneweiohara399 I guess I’m just wondering if saving money can result into us not wanting to do certain things for us and our family because we’re really concerned about saving
The answer is yes, it can. The hard part is finding a healthy balance between spending and saving. Typically, once you start saving a lot of money, you just want to see that number grow. Remember, building wealth is about how much money you keep, not about how much money you can spend.
America is wild that you get paid for blood and plasma donations
People are not usually paid for blood donations, but are for plasma as it us used in the making of medicines. People have to be very healthy for the process and within a specified age range so not everyone will qualify for it. A person is tested for several things each time they want to donate before they can.
@@fog137 Well I learned something new, thank you. In Canada you aren't compensated for either type of donation
Step 1: Make $1000.00
Shiiiiiiiii- you can make that a day if you put them hose to work, if you know what I mean
I’m a smoker, instead of buying pack of cigarettes, I bought cigarette rolling machine. Saved tons of money
