I just absolutely love the way you talk about books and show your personality in your videos they are always a joy to watch! Definitely looking forward to picking some of these up! 💜
I read Dawn by Octavia Butler last year and I loved it. I even went down a rabbit hole of research about the book and found a play on UA-cam based on her book. I think it was filmed in the 70’s or 80’s. I really want to finish the series but I’m worried I will be disappointed, this is also the same reason why I haven’t read the rest of Tananarive Due’s African Immortals series. I read the first book and it was so good I couldn’t read the next one because I’m afraid I will be disappointed. ☹️ 😅
We definitely have the same taste in books because I read majority of your favorites and loved them. You're inspiring me to dive back into urban fiction, I used to read it a lot growing up. I can only imagine how much better the genre has evolved to over the years.
Saving Bernice McFadden's novels is real. I still have four more to get through but I've been holding off for the same reasons as you. Book of Harlan took me a while to get through, but once I got halfway, I couldn't put it down. It's refreshing hearing stories from Black male perspectives. She will be in BK for her book tour on March 4. I live in NJ. I'm considering booking my travel plans around being able make it to her book signing that day. I don't know when I'd get another opportunity to possibly meet her. The love is definitely real.
I love the red ❤💋 My guess is 2 books were published in 2024 (2024 releases weren’t hitting imo). Edited to Add: I didn’t like Little Rot when I first read it, but it’s on my reread list for this year. I think I need to sit down and take my time with it (did the audiobook the first time). I’ve read other books by AE and their writing is excellent! The Street is on my Feb TBR!
I said 1 new release in my head. I was close. I have had The Book of Harlan on my backlist TBR for years. I really need to read it this year. Ive heard good things about the Street. Thanks for sharing your top 10.
I read Dawn after your recommendation in the summer time and it was a crazy ride. It's a bit slow paced from me, but it's really good. I can't wait to read more of her novels, I've been putting off reading Butler as an adult.
I loved Little Rot toooooooo. It’s definitely DIFFERENT! I cannot explain it to nobody. Just read it. lol I remember being sooooo confused about the time. Not realizing it was taking place in like 72hrs. I was like “wait… what day is it?” 😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂 YES it was like we were in a cave the whole time and just came out. Seeing this book in someone’s garbage pissed me clean awff cause how dare you?! Do you not see the greatness??
My 1st guess was 3 and then I said that’s too high 🤣 as I watched I said maybe zero 😂 (published in 2024}. I have The Street checked out right now. I’ll be starting it after I finish The Unexpected Diva. Once again you got me putting books on my TBR that I wouldn’t even think about because of the genre (paranormal romance) lol. I’m going to pick a month that I read all books out of my comfort zone.

To answer the game question, I’ll say about 4. You have a lot of books. I’m sure you try to get to a lot of what you already have.
