I loved seeing Bobby Murcer playing second base (and shortstop) because Herman Franks ran out of infielders. Bobby came up as a shortstop (with the Yankees) and even began his rookie season--1969-- at third base. He nearly turned that double play if not for George Forster's hard slide. Sweet pivot! In Bobby's memoir, Yankee for Life, he said it was Felipe Alou who slid hard. Alou retired after 1974 season. Memory is a tricky thing.
Great posts, as usual. Love the whole games, but TWIBs are great too! Lots of great, otherwise lost footage. Love the Chisox fans chanting "Na Na Na Goodbye" at the Royals....little did they know KC was about to go on the greatest run in club history that September and completely steamroll the White Sox.
7:13 a preview of future events as Buckner here on two good legs couldn't beat the speedy Morgan to the bag; How could he have beaten Mookie to the bag on two bad legs? Wilson would have won that battle.
That Hart Dykes, Jr kid would later trade in his baseball mitt for receiver gloves and become a beast at Oklahoma State.

That’s why pitchers are instructed to cover the bag when the ball is hit to first base.
That play was entirely John mcnamara’s fault
Dave Stapleton should have been playing first that inning.
1977...year of the ugly uniforms.
Far from it.
