Hi Mad's Tech a totally off the topic question.... I see a BEC on desk in front of you.. I'm guessing that it is the same one that you get with the Cube orange Is there a 12S or higher BEC that you know of, which is compatible with Cube Orange ?
Please consider doing something with their mesh network functionality. I've always wanted to see that demonstrated in practice. Love these radios. I've used them on the job and they are solid for UAV work.
I was told that you can't use the Mesh functionality with the TXMOD and but I feel as if there's a way around it as if you open the TXMOD up it's literally just the same radio in there, so if you removed the module and programmed it separately it _might_ be doable, however I make no guarantee om that working as I haven't tested it nor do I have the ability nor will to try it.
You could. Although the transceiver (air rx) is only outputting 40mw. Even though the crossfire tx can output 2w, you will lose signal due to the rx power. This stuff here is high-end way better.
I missed the overview, still left not getting the basics. So you linked two of these 900mhz modules, they have a 500kbps link, half duplex? Is there different tx and rx frequencies? What do you connect them to? One goes to flight controller but the other usb to gcs? I'm a bit lost as I've never used a radio link for ardupilot, I just use lte
I'm experiencing a lag issue with the RFD900x and RFD868ux radios. The HUD on the mission planner and the map update is very laggy. I've used RFD900+ earlier and it worked flawless. If I use these radios in the same system and same drone, I get different results in terms of latency. Any help regarding this?
Another awesome video and it couldn’t have come at a better time. Just got done doing the AutoTune and setup on my CubeOrange dual Here2 680 Hex and now getting back to my 960 Hex that has the RFD 900x-US on it. This one is also a CubeOrange build but has two Here3’s on it so “Hopefully” these upcoming videos could incorporate some RTK stuff also so I can use my Here+ base unit with all this. Can’t tell you just how much I’ve learned from your Ardupilot build videos and being able to go back to them when I run into a problem. Your latest HereLink firmware update was one of them, after watching it multiple times and reading the many posts on the CubePilot form, I thought I was another person who was having trouble updating their Airunit until I caught the updated version numbers from your video and realized it did update after all. Massive Thank you for all your work.
Great job Ian, thanks for explaining the compatibility stuff, this is one of the things holding me back from ordering with Ben, just need to justify the funds now.
Great video series, definitely helped with my radios. I did not notice the third video. Where are you set it up in Ardupilot period. Is there such one out yet?
Got a slight problem on this end I’m hoping you can help me with… I have the RFD900x and out of the box both connected to power, I get a solid green LED however when connecting to RFD Tools v2.60, it fails to connect. I do get a COM Port assigned to the FTDI cable when it is plugged in. Any thoughts?
I tried connecting the laptop this time without the jumper and it still could not be seen by the Laptop. The green LED did not illuminate with the jumper removed. In the RF Tools, it appears to connect however when I press the Load Settings button, the error message “Failed to enter command mode. Try power-cycling modem.” I was successful in connecting a 3DR Mavlink Telemetry Rcvr/Xmtr to test and amazingly it worked as advertised. Your thoughts!
Ofcom's rules are so opaque for radio usage, can we use the EU module at the full 500mW in the UK? I've seen in places we have to lower the power to 100mW and a 1% duty cycle.
How would this differ (and be more advantageous) to the TBS Crossfire with mavlink over wifi?
Thank you for your video. I have encryption dark and can not be change on RFD900A. Is it posible to change?
Love to see more contents on Ardupilot!

Is this video cursed? I can't watch it without serious buffer lag on any of the settings!
hi i would like to ask if how to configure the multisik in rfd 900ux.... thank you 😊😊😊
Ardupilot newbie question: can‘t I just use crossfire telemetry? Thank you very much for your video Mad!
You could. Although the transceiver (air rx) is only outputting 40mw. Even though the crossfire tx can output 2w, you will lose signal due to the rx power. This stuff here is high-end way better.
@@NoFlyDrone thx a lot!
I will be waiting for the cube hook up. double check my work ;-)
Awesome video. Hope this series doesn't end up incomplete like the pixhawk orange series.
Is it possible to change the frequency in RFD 900x / 868x modem, for example from 900mhz to 868mhz? (change firmware)
No it’s hardware.
what the diffrence btw 900x and 900+
Thanks for the ardupillot content
What can we use in the EU ?
Do you know if these 868 units work happily together with 868 RC control systems like Crossfire etc?
outstanding ! will get all this soon

I have the RFD 868+, how does mine differ to these ones you have on test?
How many RFD900 pairs I can use in one place at the same time?
Great job on basic explanation could you do a rcin rcout, sbus in out config for spectrum
Keep me posted

Great intro. Looking forward to the next two videos in this series.
Excellent- eagerly awaiting this series

I looked to man and I don't see it either. I think he just gave up
Would you say I can operate RFD 900 & RFD 868 radios side by side or will they interfer?
Yea they should Be fine.
@@MadRC Thanks!

That’s odd. You 100% got the pinout correct when plugging into the module from the PC. You shoud be removing the jumper ?
@@MadRC I did not know the jumper has to be removed when connecting to the computer via FTDI cable. Does that hold true for the air unit also?

Very cool. I've been waiting for a tutorial on these telem modules, and you're the right man for the job
