Love the review! Editing was good, and showed off my home airline a lot! Hopefully they make it through everything and start earning profit, you earned a subscriber! :)
It hasn’t been great, hopefully SAA will reappear in some form and we can all get flying again. I’m hoping to be able to have taken and share some more flights by the summer!
Thanks for this video, its really sad to see what is happening at SAA that's our pride man but I heard it might come back on air soon hopefully better now than before, thanks🙏🏾from a proudly South African🇿🇦
It is terribly sad what has been happening with SAA for sure. The word is they may begin cargo flights in August and passenger some time after that, hopefully we’ll see a new beginning for this wonderful airline.
Loved the video, we thank you for your time and effort. Also a huge fan of the Airbus A330 range....cannot wait for Covid-19 to be over, life returns to normality & get back up in the Air & Travel.
I’ve flown this route a few times SAA have always been excellent. Great crews and meals and a fantastic way to get to SA. Why they gave up the London Cape Town route I’ll never know!
If my memory serves me right from all those years back . SA231 was the SAA flight to Heathrow left around 7pm . Coming back to jo,burg was SA232 Leaving Heathrow around about 8pm . BOAC flight was I think BA 052 from joburg via Nairobi . And 051 coming back . Both airlines operated B747-200 series at that time . Great days of aviation in south africa .
Very sad that SAA was only operating one flight to the UK in the end. It will be interesting to see what becomes of the airline in the next few months, hopefully they will continue to exist in some form.
Thank you! I believe it is because the evening departures allow time for passengers arriving on connecting flights to O.R Tambo earlier in the day. Johannesburg is the major hub in Southern Africa from which Europe bound flights depart, so many short-haul and regional flights arrive here. Also because people are less inclined to want to take an 11 hour day flight. That would be my best guess.
Thank you. I've always wondered what the SAA product was like. As an avgeek, I want to try Africa's 'Big Three' airlines: SAA, EgyptAir and Ethiopian (as well as Air Maroc!). So far I've only managed Egyptair, but I think SAA will be the next one, hopefully.
With any luck SAA will still be around in some for or another, they’ve just been given another ZAR 10.5 billion bailout, hopefully it’ll be put to good use and they can get flying again.
All the information was obtained through the ticket, during the booking process and firsthand experience. Flightradar24 and seat maps on SAA’s website may be helpful.
It's disgraceful that this happened to saa it's all about corruption and greed innocent employees lost their jobs through recklessness and mismanagement
@@raeltremeer6138 yes I hope and pray for the return of saa in full force and that pilots crewmembers and ground will be reinstated they all struggling to find employment it's not easy to get into the airlines will always keep them in prayer saa will arise from the ashes I always flew with saa great treatment on their flights always felt safe flying with saa I miss our national carrier I'm angry at the thieves who brought our beautiful airline down
@@raeltremeer6138 Oops, my mistake. It was EAST African Airways VC10s I remember seeing when I was in Nairobi. Wherever there was a strong British influence they would buy British jets. SAA flew the 707. I traveled all over Africa 1971/1972. Flew on an Ethiopian Airlines DC-3 and a Zambia Airways BAC 111 among others. But I've been an aviation buff since I was four years old and flew on an SAS DC-7 from LAX to CPH.
That’s alright, sounds like you have some very interesting stories to tell from the golden years of aviation! Unfortunately I never got the chance to fly on any of these types. I do however know that one former East African Airways VC10 is stored at RAF Dunsfold in Surrey, after being donated by the RAF, I think it still carries out the occasional taxi-run.
@@raeltremeer6138 The VC10 was a beautiful airplane, I flew on one BOAC from LHR to JFK. But for four engine jets the competition from the 707 and DC-8 was brutal.

Thank you so much, it breaks my heart how I miss SAA and flying because of covid

very informative...had no idea saa could lease their heathrow slots

Beautiful Airport London and The City

Thanks a lot for your comment, hopefully I’ll be able to take some more trips this year and produce more content with Covid restrictions easing.
I miss SAA so much
Amazing, keep them coming
I’ve flown this route a few times
SAA have always been excellent.
Great crews and meals and a fantastic way to get to SA. Why they gave up the London Cape Town route I’ll never know!
That’s always been my experience with SAA, I think I flew the Cape Town to London route back in 2010 on the A340, a great experience!
No money 💵
the best Vlog Ever!!! so emotional . i really miSS SAA
Thanks so much, hopefully we’ll all be able to fly again with them at some point in the near future!

Oh my gosh the view when the flight takes off😭😭😭🥺❤️. I'd use flights like I'm taking a taxi!🙆🏿😭😭😭🔥
Lovely flight report 😊
Do you know why all Europe flights arrive in JHB in the morning but only depart at night ?

Man I love this review 😭😭😭still haven't flown on the SAA A350 & A333E yet 😔
Glad you enjoyed it. With any luck you still may be able to🤞
17:44 looks to be Oman Air. Also I believe the South African government themselves have given up on SAA, it's a shame
Yeah, I only realised that after releasing the video unfortunately. A real shame indeed what has happened to SAA.
It is an Oman Air B 787-900 aircraft
Nice review 👌🏼
Sadly I don’t have any hope for SAA. It’s a shame 🤦🏼♂️
Thanks a lot! I guess we’ll just have to remember the good times of SAA past...

Hi, what's the app u used to find out the details of your flight

Indeed, hopefully they’ll return in some shape or form.

17:12 They are in a holding pattern waiting to be allowed to approach the runway
The last time I was in Johannesburg SAA was flying Vickers VC-10s. The Rand was at $2 US.
Which year was that, I didn’t know SAA ever operated VC10’s?

I watched a documentary on the VC10 a while back and this was the case, such a shame as it was arguably the better aircraft in most aspects.
What is London Heathrow
It is the main airport serving London and the UK to international destinations.
You can get that same view by just going through security and sitting at the restaurant.
I wish to fly one day
Good flight report! Too bad this airline went bankrupt 😞
Thank you, there’s talks of SAA resuming operations in the next few months, it’ll be interesting to see what happens…
17:46 that is Oman air not China Dreamliner
17:47 Omar Air dreamliner rather than China Southern ;-)
Thanks, I noticed too late unfortunately.
Fly them now at your own peril...

Lychee or Litchi is correct👍
