Doctors warn that long COVID symptoms can include outbreaks of rashes and pustules

  • When we think of Long COVID, we normally think of exhaustion and brain fog. But recently people have also seen outbreaks of rashes and pustules all over their skin. Dermatologists say the numbers of patients who have been seeking treatment for these symptoms has increased by around 30%. They add the majority of patients start to develop these symptoms five to 10 days after infection and they normally improve after a week or so. But if the symptoms last one or two months, doctors believe the virus may have attacked the skin surface, stimulating inflammation on the epidermis, and inducing allergies.
    Chao Chao-ming
    Dermatologist
The symptoms can be very itchy and there can be small pustules, one by one, all over the body. Some people will experience their skin easily infected with folliculitis, and even urticaria symptoms will appear repeatedly all over the body. Symptoms that result from Long COVID are actually around for a long time. After getting infected by COVID, the virus can have many effects on bodily symptoms. It can attack body organs, including those outside our internal organs, and I think that with the skin’s surface, there’s possibly some stimulation of cell hormones in our immune calls and even inflammation of cytokines. This can increase resulting skin problems. These symptoms can come and go, in something like a delayed reaction.
Doctors remind people who experience these post-COVID skin symptoms that -- aside from keeping them under control with medicine -- to drink more water, eat more vegetables and less oily food and get enough sleep. This can boost the body’s immunity in order to fight those rashes and other pesky symptoms that are caused by Long COVID.

I’ve had this for almost 2 years everyday.. it has been decreasing lately but it comes and goes every once in a while. Throughout the first year it would come every day. I recommend taking Claritin 24 hour nondrowsy. It will work the best out of everything that I’ve used and it will last several days to a week but you have to keep using it consistently for a while until you start going back to normal.

This crap is bad. I've had it for 17 months now. it's getting better. I just started taking Claritin 24 hours a week ago. It goes from my back to my thighs behind my knees and lower legs randomly. Last week, it was my butt cheeks and my upper arms. I only had two covid vaccinations and got sick with covid a year later. I lost my sense of smell and taste and then got the rash a week after showing up negative. Claritin 24-hour is the only thing that seems to be working. And with the nut jobs saying this is rare, there are too many people that have this for it to be rare.

Unless it's an N95, masks only protect other people. It stops the momentum of the virus-carrying aerosols at the source. In light of that, sitting close even masked is not a good idea, but still better than none.

I had a rash right across my chest and neck in Beijing on 18th January, 2020. I went the pharmacy and the old man just sold me some cream, but the girl wanted me to stay and tell me more - but the old man ushered me out of the pharmacy quickly. At that time the Chinese people didn't want foreigners to know about the coming pandemic which was discovered in Wuhan - I flew home on 24th January - Nobody ever tested me at all at any airports. That was more than 2 years ago now - still feel very tired sometimes.

@@markkoalawebseo It was discovered around November / December 2019 but the whole thing was suppressed - nobody talked about it as though it was to be hidden from foreigners - I was told in mid January that I should wear a mask as the person told me there was a flu in another part of the country - in Beijing it is common to wear masks all the time and especially on high pollution days which is nearly every day in the winter anyways.
