I belong to an emergency brigade in my company, and we have an access card with some digits on them, when we do simulacrum we kind of screaming every body's names to make sure nobody stayed behind, but is not very practical, I was wondering if when I scan a badge, can this one remove if from a list or personnel, and leaving names of people who has not report to the reunion point. I've seen similar questions above, and figured I'd add mine. How do I use the barcode reader to add a value to a text field, but that field also has a default of varRecord.ExistingData ? Basically want to give the user the option to scan or type in.
I have not. Hmm. Why do you need to Reset it. You should be storing the output into a variable and referencing the variable. So you could set the Variable to blank to "reset" things.

Everything works great for until I test the app on my iPhone 14. I scan my barcode and the number is recognized while the app is using the camera, but when I hit submit the VALUE carried back to my gallery is blank, although the TYPE is not blank!
You are the 3rd or 4th person to report this issue this week. 😔 I built a test and I didn't have it but others are. I thnk you need to open a support ticket with Microsoft and hope they fix it quickly. Sorry.

This works a million times better than the old one and is great for sure... but... i got this to work perfectly on my s23 ultra but could not get it to work on our a7 lite or a zebra tc72. I think it is just up to your camera/device vs. quality of the barcode. I don't think there is a specification, just how far away can it read what it sees.

Great Video as always, I think I'm close, I can scan and populate a Label, but when I scan to a gallery item, it does not populate with the scanned contents. I get a beep and it populates the Label as a test, but the Gallery item is blank. I put on the OnScan a Patch(ProductMapping, Gallery2.Selected, {PLots: First(BarcodeReader1.Barcodes).Value}); and Plots is a column in a Data source collection. Any help would be appreciated. I haven't tried. Maybe best thing would be put Barcodes into a collection and then you could edit the collection for sure. I feel like this topic needs another video, lots of great questions like this in the comments.

You would replace the NFC scanner with the barcode from this video and you would be set. 😎
Also, if you put it next to a regular button, you will notice how offset it is. At the bottom and the right side has weird white pixels. This makes it a pain to align inside of containers.

Hello, How I can add new barcode reader to search bar (Text Input)? In old version barcode scanner I type "BarcodeScanner1" in TextInput on "Default" tab and all work fine. With new barcode reader i type "BarcodeReader1" or "BarcodeReader1.Barcodes" in "Default" and not working. I give error in TextInput "Text was expected". How I can resolve this problem?
Sorry to bother you, but i don't see how you can remove a scan when in multi-scan mode. Also if you leave screen and come back to it, i don't see how to reset the values from previous use. Ideas?

How do you validate barcode value? Issue: barcode label has 3 barcodes. One has length, one has weight and the one I want has the alpha numeric unique identifier formatted as “#### #### ####”. I don’t want the length or weight.
Do you know why when using the new barcode reader, the output of the scan into a text box always contains the last scanned item? Every time i scan an item and submit, when i return back to the scan screen, the previously scanned item is still there! Love the new feature but having some issues with getting it to work the same as the barcode scanner :D
Josh what is your code for the Text box? Maybe try resetting the control? I typically store the value I want from the scanner in a variable so I can make decisions and clear it if needed.

@@pullan11 BarcodeReader1.Barcodes returns a table of results. First( BarcodeReader1.Barcodes).Value returns the first record in the Table or Last( BarcodeReader1.Barcodes).Value would return the last. Try playing with those.
@@ShanesCows Ahh okay! I've given it another go but still can't seem to clear the text box. I've created an asset register, so when i scan a serial number and submit the item to the register, ideally the form should reset but the serial number from the last scanned item remains. Will keep trying :)
Hello, first of all thanks for all of your content By any chance. I do struggle for the following thing I want to display a pop up to my user based on the barcode value after each scan. I need to use scanning mode : scan multiple as my users need to scan many barcode per hours. I dont want them to restart the barcode scanner (because its take 1 to 2 second) I did set on change/on scan with If(Last(BarcodeReader1.Barcodes).Value = "C30000058333B4520",Notify("The barcode starts with X123.",NotificationType.Error),Notify("yeees")) but the pop up is only showed when I click on 'SUBMIT' meaning I need to leave the barcode mode to show the pop up Is there any way to show a message to user while still in multiple scan mode?
The one thing I haven't seen anyone really address is hidden alt characters in a barcode, especially QR codes. I run into this alot in my industry field. They use end of file marker, end of line marker and carriage returns to get multiple lines of data in a QR code. This can really screw up your database if you don't strip that info out. With Excel it's easy, just use the CLEAN function. But with PowerApps there is no CLEAN function unfortunately.
Hi I am newbie in this power platform. I am trying to create a share point form by using power app. I have a dropdown column name "pets" Ex. Dog, hen, bird I have another two column as "Animal food" and "Bird Food" Now I want is that if I select Dog from "pets" dropdown list in power app then only "Animal Food" dropdown field will be visible. Also when I select any option from "pets" drop down such as bird or hen then my " Bird Food" drop down field should be visible. How to do this.

So will this Barcode Reader replace the existing Barcode Scanner, or will they both stay? I love the BEEP and VIBRATE on scan, that's very nice.

Check that you are setting the Default value of the controls in your gallery. Common mistake. Hope it helps

Was going to setup an App that has a barcode scanner so that my users can conduct an inventory on their warehouse. I would then integrate the PowerApp with Power BI so that I could monitor their progress using the Power BI report. Are there any things that I should be aware of?

I used Barcode reader as an example, but when opened on an Android phone, it displayed 'Starting', which means the camera cannot be called

What you did at the end with the text field. Can I still do that like with the legacy barcode scanner. 1 scan populates 1 text entry field? The way I was doing it is not working

it does not work on my Oppo a54. Any idea?
Also, if you put it next to a regular button, you will notice how offset it is. At the bottom and the right side has weird white pixels. This makes it a pain to align inside of containers.
I did notice it was a slightly weird size. I bet it is setup mostly as the new modern controls so hopefully when they roll out it fits with them.

How I can add new barcode reader to search bar (Text Input)? In old version barcode scanner I type "BarcodeScanner1" in TextInput on "Default" tab and all work fine. With new barcode reader i type "BarcodeReader1" or "BarcodeReader1.Barcodes" in "Default" and not working. I give error in TextInput "Text was expected".
How I can resolve this problem?
BarcodeReader1.Barcodes is a table. In a label you want to show a Record. Try this
Last(BarcodeReader1.Barcodes).Value 😎
Sorry to bother you, but i don't see how you can remove a scan when in multi-scan mode. Also if you leave screen and come back to it, i don't see how to reset the values from previous use. Ideas?

I thought NFC was limited by your hardware, just like most computer cameras can't scan bar codes.
@@MerkDolf NFC scanning is dependent on your device correct, but I think most modern phones support it these days.

Greg I went poking. The same NFCScan function can read HF-RFID. I don't know much about RFID if that helps or not?

How do you validate barcode value? Issue: barcode label has 3 barcodes. One has length, one has weight and the one I want has the alpha numeric unique identifier formatted as “#### #### ####”. I don’t want the length or weight.

Do you know why when using the new barcode reader, the output of the scan into a text box always contains the last scanned item? Every time i scan an item and submit, when i return back to the scan screen, the previously scanned item is still there! Love the new feature but having some issues with getting it to work the same as the barcode scanner :D
Josh what is your code for the Text box? Maybe try resetting the control? I typically store the value I want from the scanner in a variable so I can make decisions and clear it if needed.

@@pullan11 BarcodeReader1.Barcodes returns a table of results. First( BarcodeReader1.Barcodes).Value returns the first record in the Table or Last( BarcodeReader1.Barcodes).Value would return the last. Try playing with those.
@@ShanesCows Ahh okay! I've given it another go but still can't seem to clear the text box. I've created an asset register, so when i scan a serial number and submit the item to the register, ideally the form should reset but the serial number from the last scanned item remains. Will keep trying :)

I want to display a pop up to my user based on the barcode value after each scan. I need to use scanning mode : scan multiple as my users need to scan many barcode per hours. I dont want them to restart the barcode scanner (because its take 1 to 2 second)
I did set on change/on scan with
If(Last(BarcodeReader1.Barcodes).Value = "C30000058333B4520",Notify("The barcode starts with X123.",NotificationType.Error),Notify("yeees"))
but the pop up is only showed when I click on 'SUBMIT' meaning I need to leave the barcode mode to show the pop up
Is there any way to show a message to user while still in multiple scan mode?

The one thing I haven't seen anyone really address is hidden alt characters in a barcode, especially QR codes. I run into this alot in my industry field. They use end of file marker, end of line marker and carriage returns to get multiple lines of data in a QR code. This can really screw up your database if you don't strip that info out. With Excel it's easy, just use the CLEAN function. But with PowerApps there is no CLEAN function unfortunately.

I am trying to create a share point form by using power app.
I have a dropdown column name "pets"
Ex. Dog, hen, bird
I have another two column as "Animal food" and "Bird Food"
Now I want is that if I select Dog from "pets" dropdown list in power app then only "Animal Food" dropdown field will be visible.
Also when I select any option from "pets" drop down such as bird or hen then my " Bird Food" drop down field should be visible.
How to do this.

@@ShanesCows your thumbnail shows you scanning a QR code. Also, I realise there is no tutorial out there on how to associate QR quote to per entry in sharelist -> not using power automate. Would be cool if you have a tutorial on that!
Is it possible to make the barcode scanner recognise existing products?.. Like a bag of chips for example from the store.. And then show you on screen what the item is?.. If so, how's that possible? Is there a free database out there with free GTIN information for example that we can use to achieve the above?
