Important to know. if you're not Australian or familiar with Australian politics, the Liberal Party here is akin to the UK Tories - plus these days crossed with a bit of the US Republicans. In other words they are not 'liberal' in the sense of US politicospeak, but conservative and right wing.
Also, this is actually a very gentle and kind parody of Liberal women. The real life equivalents are invariably grotesque and deeply nasty... Michaelia Cash, Pru Howard, Sophie Mirabella, Bronwyn Bishop, Julie Bishop, etc.

I love them. I'm from the States so I don't know the actual parody but they are so brilliant I just feel I know these women in some American form as well!
Basically, it's a stereotype of upper middle class-rich women who vote for the Liberal Party, comparable to the Republican Party in the United States or the Conservatives in the United Kingdom. At the time this sketch was done, the Liberal Party held government in Victoria, the state where this was filmed. The forerunner to this show, FAST FORWARD, of which all three speaking actresses here were cast members, enjoyed mocking the Liberal Party, so they continued on with it here.
