Coaches shouldn't be politicking and lobbying the committee. Just get rid of the committee and come up with an objective metric that will determine the contenders. Then when teams get left out, they don't have anyone to cry to, and only themselves to blame for losing games.
Just take a page out of the NFL's book and go by Wins, Conference Titles and Head to Head. It's so stupid at this point and feels like it's only there for social media and content buzz.
An objective metric is tough in CFB, because of the power-structure of the different conferences. Would have to reformat the entire regular season to make it something like the NFL... otherwise, rankings will always be part of the equation.
@@playboi3056 not to mention so many people were worried about the regular season games meaning less with more teams. This takes care of that argument.

Geezzz. You think Texas isn’t good. Ok. Whatever. Texas was way better than Florida state last year and this year as well. You are delusional if you think Texas was given a weak schedule so they could make the play offs. 🙄
Don't blame Texas for doing their business to the schedule they were given. But that doesn't mean they aren't deserving of where they are at my guy. Only Georgia held a lead over them all year. They hold their opponents to less than 13 points per game and are the number 1 defense in total yards allowed per game at 247 yards per game. They held Georgia to 288 total yards but turnovers made the score lopsided considering 17 of those 30 points covered a mere 66 total yards. You obviously don't cover any Texas stats huh?
The best thing the committee can do is not to put out any projections . Wait til all games are played, rank them, and move on. There will always be teams who aren't happy

Too much SEC bias to be objective. A healthy Louisville makes a deep run in the playoff. Miami lost two close games to very good teams, just ask Georgia.
Miami has the number 1 offense in the country Bama is only in because it's a brand because NO professional teams are there or would even consider it, and what happened last year when FSU went undefeated? "I haven’t retained any articles over the years but I’m a college football fan and read a lot of articles. In the early 2000s then SEC commissioner was quoted as stating the SEC was the best which is why they went to a 9 game conference schedule and avoid competitive non conference games. Then Disney (ESPN & ABC) partnered with the SEC. Over the years Pete Carrolls USC was passed over for the Natty game, a year after the SEC stated nobody wanted to see a Michigan Ohio State rematch the SEC argued for and got a LSU Bama rematch and later we were told LSUs 2 losses didn’t count because they were in double overtime. And each time ESPN was driving the narrative. ESPN/ABC have billions invested in the SEC and ESPN has the most influence. It was suggested that ESPN would lose millions if Alabama was left out of the playoffs last year so Herbstreet made the argument for Bama over FSU and ESPN began talking about a 3 loss SEC team in the playoffs 3 weeks ago" This is organized crime. The Georgia Georgia Tech game was decided by the referees. The Miami Syracuse game had at least 2 bad calls that took points away from Miami. Seemed convenient for the narrative that ESPN/Disney was forming. Regardless -a 10-2 power 4 team with a 6-2 record vs winning bowl bound teams should be in the playoffs ahead of a 9-3 team with 2 embarrassing losses which included giving up 40 points to Vanderbilt and getting stomped by 6-6 Oklahoma 24-3.

That reasoning means playing for your conference championship while other teams have a bye week is a punishment. Well, the play off selection is turning out as expected. Some will like the choices. Others won't. What will probably end up happening in the play off selection is, it will expand to 16 teams for the 2025 season. Reduction of regular season games to 11, from 12? Maybe. Those two off weeks during the off season, may be reduced. The selection committee is also learning some things. Not everybody is thrilled to have Ohio State, Alabama, & Georgia picked every year. No matter how many games they lose. But the television networks want them. Maybe they should just draw lots?
Despite what the committee says.. they’ve shown that clearly the only things that matter are # of wins and head to head. Aparently the “eye test” and strength of schedule mean nothing

Coaches shouldn't be politicking and lobbying the committee. Just get rid of the committee and come up with an objective metric that will determine the contenders. Then when teams get left out, they don't have anyone to cry to, and only themselves to blame for losing games.

It was suggested that ESPN would lose millions if Alabama was left out of the playoffs last year so Herbstreet made the argument for Bama over FSU and ESPN began talking about a 3 loss SEC team in the playoffs 3 weeks ago"

The Miami Syracuse game had at least 2 bad calls that took points away from Miami. Seemed convenient for the narrative that ESPN/Disney was forming.
