Thank you for these summaries. I am new to the Bible and they are helping a lot. A question: Why did God pick Solomon to carry on the royal line as opposed to, for example, one of David’s other, indeed older, sons? I mean David sinned with Bathsheba - and yes they lost their first child and they were married by the time Solomon was born. But why would God use a child from this union then? (Acknowledge that eventually, Mary comes from the line created from one of the other sons.)
You know what... this is a good question! Something to think about but I guess we will never know
