The comment about Hide + Seek Switzerland being inspired by spy movies makes so much sense - I remember commenting on the trailer that the music sounded like Mission Impossible
Thanks for doing all this stuff for us! I hope I won't spoil myself on the day the Season 13 trailer drops by watching the breakdown on this channel ^_^
Honestly, I felt a bit lied to when I realized that the guy walking past Ben's playground is not, in fact, Adam. I'm glad to hear that this is something they don't feel like doing very often in trailers.
Of course they should be happy that people are analyzing the trailers, because that means people are watching the show! At the end of the day, that's what's most important to a video producer: Eyeballs watching. That means ratings, which means more money for commercials (or in Nebula's case subscriptions), which means they stay in a job.
I think you're right that the trailer analysis is a symptom of a good show with engaged fans, but I will nuance this take a little. Even if the show is succesful "thanks to" the viewers, the creators are not obliged to approve of every way a fan might choose to enjoy their show. They definitely don't owe me anything. Sorry if that's not what you're implying. Just felt like making myself clear about this.
@@Hamfrags Obviously they don't owe anything and your humility deserves respect, but it does show another side that they really care about the fans and understand that the fans keep them in a job, so going that extra mile means we're more likely to want to continue watching. You look at a show like The Price is Right and why it survived so long with Bob Barker and his staff, but audience fandom and participation has gone down with Drew Carey and his staff, it's for this exact reason.
I would also like to think that if there's a subset of fans who actively want to find out what's going on in the show through the trailer, it doesn't make a lot of sense for the editors to go out of their way so much to make that impossible. People who look for easter eggs/season info would prefer to actually find it, not have their efforts spoiled. So in a way, I feel like what this guy is doing is counterproductive to making what the fans want, or at least that particular subset of fans.
Oh I agree that it shouldn't be impossible! Not sure if I articulated this well, but all the tricks we pull aren't to completely shut down the speculation, just to make it interesting! It's pretty clear this community is dedicated and well-organized, so I like to think they like the extra challenge. The main thing we do try to avoid is putting stuff in that would give away the ending, for obvious reasons
As an active trailer analysis enjoyer, I'll say that the nature of the show would make it very hard to make a teaser with any meaningful teasing in it without at least the locations being identifiable. I think everyone involved knows that at least some incidental information and locations will be revealed no matter what. I do personally enjoy the extra challenge of knowing that a clip might be reversed or mirrored, etc. Just makes the puzzle more complex! Still, most of the clips in the teasers aren't manipulated at all. The whole rivalry that we talk about in this video is mostly us playing it up for fun (at least for my part 😅).
It was interesting to hear more of Jack's thoughts about putting together the trailers! and thanks Jack for sifting through my random thoughts in S10
Watching you and Sam flip bottles for an hour had me in absolute stitches

Now back to the editing cave to concoct more trials for y'all speculators 😈
Thanks for providing me with so many interesting tidbits, it was hard to even bring this below an hour in duration. 💚

You were the first :)
