- The journey from Tahoe to Mt. Shasta. This stretch started out well, covering over 90 miles in the first 72 hours. Lots of trail magic along the way too, a very welcome surprise every time. Unfortunately, the Park Fire that started near Chico, California was growing exponentially during this time and I ended up downwind of it. With ash raining down from the sky and an air quality index over 400, I made the decision to jump up north to Mt. Shasta. Onwards from here, until the next fire impedes my path. #backpacking #pacificcresttrail #pct #thruhike #pct2024

So glad you backtracked. I watched a story this morning on Fox8 saying something about a pushed, burning car started the fire. Don’t know how true that is…Great video! Loved the honey bee. Holy miles! I’ve been on my toes waiting for the next, since watching your first. Love ya cuz!

Got a boat load of fires All up the middle of Oregon Should be good after Ashland has far as hwy138 just after crater lake then look for ride to shelter cove

You ever see a bear our mountain lion?
@@ScottHammer-r1d no bears yet! I think one mountain lion, but could only see glowing eyes on a boulder while night hiking.
Sorry Brother....I thru hked in 21 and 22 and that section fucked me both times. Come back and section it in better conditions.

Phil- there is nothing normal about these fires. I know you're doing what you need to do to see a clear sky again.
