I would disagree. Usually swarms of earthquakes is an indicator that a major eruption is about to occur. USGS Geological Survey pocinologists were flown from the United States into the Philippines. They were monitoring Mount Pinatubo. The prediction was that the mountain was going to have a large eruption. The scientists were nervous because past evacuations resulted in no eruption. @@williamtseng And? The roblox profile pic is meant to be ironic, and the Florida man meme could at least be altered in different ways. This is literally just a copy and paste.
I remember the year Mount Saint Helen erupted. That same year I experienced one of the worst winters in my life. Yellowstone has the potential of making Mount Saint Helen look like a very minor eruption. 😨
Volcanic soot and sulfur dioxide readily reflect sunlight. What are the biggest eruptions in global history was Krakatoa. It created a summer that was very cold. I'm sure there was some crop losses across the planet.
I am not a scientist. I know nothing about researching volcanos, etc. I'm basically just pulling this out of my ass. What if we were to drill into Yellowstone and somehow relieve the pressure(Magna/Lava) that is building up to where we avoid it erupting? Is that possibly or is that fantasy? If nothing can be done, I'm moving to Australia. Australia seems far enough and it's society looks good.
Lol imagine Trump’s response to a super volcano threat: “Nuke it. Let’s nuke that thing. We have the best nukes. The greatest nukes. Tremendous nukes.”
It won't end our world, it will end north America continent and rise the temperature so no one will be able to live in northern southern parts of the world but lands around ecuador line and far from north America, will be good enough to live
Yellowstone supervolcano gets a lot of attention, because its in the USA and closely monitored. Actually, The Lake Toba system in Sumatra, Indonesia is larger and erupted far more recently, 75000 years ago. If it went again it could kill millions world wide. The Lake Taupo system in New Zealand North Island is about the same size as Yellowstone, except it seems to be far more active and last erupted only 26,000 years ago (the last supervolcanic eruption on earth, which was actually slightly larger than the last Yellowstone eruption 640000 years ago). In fact Lake Taupo has supererupted several times since the last Yellowstone eruption.
Daniel Mullaney If Yellowstone went off billions would die. 4 states would literally become a waste land of nothing. All of middle America would be covered in 10+ feet of ash.
I was living in Central California, when Mt. St. Helens blew her top, and remember light ash falling. Flecks of it were everywhere, kind of like a dust storm, with cars coated. That was a few thousand miles away. So could only imagine what a massive blast of hot lava from Yellowstone would do? 😨
saw a similar scene here in oregon in the 2021 wildfire season, I was supposed to evacuate but me and my family had stayed and it was raining ashes for a month and a half, it got so bad to the point where a small wildfire brokeout about a mile away from my house and within an hour 5 houses were gone and it lit a wood plant on fire that was carrying massive gas tanks to power their machines, all of those caught fire and sent massive burning wood chunks into the air and you could feel the shockwaves from these blasts, we eventually left after this and all that is left of the surroundings was a massive burn area and the sky was full of orange with a 40 foot visibility, I have the start of the fire on video which is amazing, I also went into the backyard to go and save my rabbit and I couldnt because there was about a 70 foot tall wall of flames and heat coming out that was unberable, somehow the rabbit lived though.
What happened to the "new discovery" that molten carbon is under Yellowstone, not molten rock (magma)? That would explain why there is no cone-shaped mountain around Yellowstone, not the theory that the mountain collapsed into the caldera.
Reading the comments is a study in how little people understand the brute strength of nature and how if this erupts, it has the potential to be close to an extinction level event. At least for society as we know it.
extinction level? doubtful. it's really looking like the mega huge eruptions of 10 million years ago are a thing of the past. the heat flow has a lot of lateral movement to get thru.
Maybe not so big as to reach extinction event magnitude but seeing how some eruptions in the not so distant past brought about global climate changes to the point of causing severe famines and epidemics in some parts of the world, I think it's safe to say the whole planet would be in serious trouble.
Lake Toba in Sumatra is bigger, & more dangerous than Yellowstone. It last erupted approximately 77,000 years ago, & killed roughly 94% of the Earth's population. As Supervolcano's go, I would keep a closer watch on Toba. There are some Supervolcano's we haven't yet identified!!! Anyone of which could go at any time without warning. So if you absolutely, positively MUST have something to worry about.....
And the sadder thing is, Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics organisation isn't as good as USGS, the guys at USGS have some ideas like creating a geothermal plant on Yellowstone to drain the energy first before erupting, even though anyone can say it's bullshit because X and Y anyways, Indonesians will never thought of such crazy ideas because we're too lazy to think.
If it gon pop, we gon pop it ourselves, but moabs around the whole volcano, put some underground, that will squeeze that oil from the pimple, later the oil will go every where, to avoid the earth sinking from melting icebergs, we use salt water to cool the magma down
For anyone worrying about the predicted eruption time. We only have 3 volcanic eruptions to go off of, so the actual predicted time for when the volcano is supposed to erupt is unknown as of yet. It could've been that the last 3 volcanic eruptions were anomalies and just erupted quick compared to its average or anything really, we just don't know since we're basing it off of its 3 past eruptions.
Just when we are aghast at Yellowstone doing its thing, remind us about how Crater Lake was once upon a Time 12,000+ foot volcano Mount Mazama. That disappeared off the face of the Earth.
For what its worth, I just got back from the park yesterday and all of the geysers were as clear, white and as beautiful as I remember them 20 years ago. I'd be much more concerned with rising ocean levels and an ICBM launch from North Korea, they pose much more realistic threats in the next 10 years, let alone 10,000.
swisskristin12 We’re actually due an eruption anytime now, which I think is much more concerning than North Korea’s empty threats or the ocean levels which are already being studied and improved by others.
swisskristin12 LOL then you don’t know anything about NPK or their lack of nuclear capabilities. Anything they launch won’t make it to mainland America. Also, the earth is fucked, sea levels are going to rise and it’s not going to be stopped no matter how many electric cars and wind turbines we have. The Yellowstone plume is going to decimate half of America, and wipe out a large portion of the rest of the world because of the after effects. It will have repercussions that last thousands of years. It’s a super volcano who’s source is a massive...MASSIVE lava plume. It’s not like a regular volcano eruption, with a much more limited amount of lava. The flows could last for years.
Well... if this actually erupts as large as it's done before, we might be in for a mini ice age which means a refreeze of the poles and sea levels receding.
If Taal Lake water level suddenly goes down or starts to boil there maybe a catastrophic explosion because entire lake is the caldera of a supervolcano.
i once got in an argument with a USGS scientist on Twitter about when the next yellowstone eruption will be, i said its overdue & could happen any moment, he said it could be 100s of thousands of years, then he said ok, we could both be right
It wouldn't cause a mass extinction event. The closest comparison to a powerful eruption would probably be a large asteroid impact, but the effects of eruptions don't last nearly as long. Anyone in the blast/hot ash radius would die yeah, and nearly the entire country would be covered in some amount of cool ash, but it wouldn't black out the sun for months or anything. It already had 3 known eruptions and none caused extinction events.

If Yellowstone goes up it's the end of Yogi Bear...and the rest of us.
This is the exact reason for why flex tape was invented
When Yellowstone erupted prior, an entire mountain range disappeared into the caldera. That's one heck of an eruption!
Prior to what?
Anyone watching this after an explosion at Yellowstone that occurred the other day?
I remember the year Mount Saint Helen erupted. That same year I experienced one of the worst winters in my life. Yellowstone has the potential of making Mount Saint Helen look like a very minor eruption. 😨
Volcanic soot and sulfur dioxide readily reflect sunlight. What are the biggest eruptions in global history was Krakatoa. It created a summer that was very cold. I'm sure there was some crop losses across the planet.
No one cares about your winters.
Australia seems far enough and it's society looks good.
cassidy nova don't forget about the deadly shit over there. Cough cough spiders cough cough
cassidy nova it won't really matter where you move the whole world will be affected
Yellowstone caldera is too big and drilling there just do nothing, but it could just start eruption.
One scientist gave a simple answer. What happens when you put a needle into a balloon?
Philippines is farther , on the other side of the world.
2020: Yellowstone: ight. Time to shine
2020 sucks, Yellowstone, "did someone say boom"
Who here because the yellow stone video that almost explode
The scariest part is that the government won’t warn us when the time comes.
They can’t
Lol imagine Trump’s response to a super volcano threat:
“Nuke it. Let’s nuke that thing. We have the best nukes. The greatest nukes. Tremendous nukes.”
Made my day
hYuge nukes, best out there👍👌
I heard that in his voice😂
Like if you’re here after watching the hydrothermal explosion video at Yellowstone National Park.
I love how deep they can get us fascinated into the video just to end it
I love how everyone in the comments is being funny about the thing which would probably end our world 😂😂😂
ZeEa Fraud same 😂
And being serious will stop the eruption?
@@alexzabala2154 yeah, until that shit explodes and you would cry your ass off
It won't end our world, it will end north America continent and rise the temperature so no one will be able to live in northern southern parts of the world but lands around ecuador line and far from north America, will be good enough to live
@@fatihkocibar2999
It will create a nuclear winter for hundreds or even thousands of years. Unless we create underground cities, we all finna die.
That’s all it takes really..pressure and time that and a big damn poster.

lol realy shawshank lol
America also has two Super Volcanoes. What was thought to be Mammoth Mountain (California) is actually part of its Caldera
+FatalFist you're talking about the long valles caldera?
William Coler Yeah
Daniel Mullaney If Yellowstone went off billions would die. 4 states would literally become a waste land of nothing. All of middle America would be covered in 10+ feet of ash.
The more recently it erupted, the lower chance it has of erupting soon.
Kinda surreal to think that at one point after you visit Yellowstone, you would've stood on a piece of land that will no longer exist
if yellow stone starts erupting karens: no i do not consent for you to erupt
You’re violating my rights🤚
*Erupts anyways*
I was living in Central California, when Mt. St. Helens blew her top, and remember light ash falling. Flecks of it were everywhere, kind of like a dust storm, with cars coated. That was a few thousand miles away.
So could only imagine what a massive blast of hot lava from Yellowstone would do? 😨
I was living in Kansas City and remember the ash darkening the sky just a few days after the eruption.
saw a similar scene here in oregon in the 2021 wildfire season, I was supposed to evacuate but me and my family had stayed and it was raining ashes for a month and a half, it got so bad to the point where a small wildfire brokeout about a mile away from my house and within an hour 5 houses were gone and it lit a wood plant on fire that was carrying massive gas tanks to power their machines, all of those caught fire and sent massive burning wood chunks into the air and you could feel the shockwaves from these blasts, we eventually left after this and all that is left of the surroundings was a massive burn area and the sky was full of orange with a 40 foot visibility, I have the start of the fire on video which is amazing, I also went into the backyard to go and save my rabbit and I couldnt because there was about a 70 foot tall wall of flames and heat coming out that was unberable, somehow the rabbit lived though.
wat would b funny is if it erupts and is so non devastating that we can just laugh at it for the next 1 million years
kent rountree
Think I heard that it erupts moore often then every 600.000 years, but then it is "smal" eruptions. But you can imagine the panic!
Do u even think humans will live for another1,000 yrs? Let alone a million.
Human race wont exist in a million years, we will be doomed when the first ai is done
This volcano seems overpowered. Hope God fixes it in patch 2022
Magma under Yellowstone would so big that you can put India on it
extinction level? doubtful. it's really looking like the mega huge eruptions of 10 million years ago are a thing of the past. the heat flow has a lot of lateral movement to get thru.
Maybe not so big as to reach extinction event magnitude but seeing how some eruptions in the not so distant past brought about global climate changes to the point of causing severe famines and epidemics in some parts of the world, I think it's safe to say the whole planet would be in serious trouble.
I agree. Mother Earth will take her planet back by force.
More like they realize that there is nothing that can be done about it.
“Forests now conceal the scars”
*Smithsonian’s “It’s Brighter Here” slogan appears*
This will be the best fire work show ever and America is hosting it too ❤️🇺🇸
Canada will be very happy to see you all have this fireworks show.
Beam Me Up honestly
Beam Me Up
The human population was much smaller back than, not only that it actually only affects the area of Southern Africa lmao.
77000 hears ago, Humans hadn't yet evolved. The population stated in question would have been all of the living things on earth.
And the sad (or it's actually good) thing is I live in Indonesia.
I don't think anyones going "yeah Yellowstone's tiny af"
Making fun of earths acne
If it gon pop, we gon pop it ourselves, but moabs around the whole volcano, put some underground, that will squeeze that oil from the pimple, later the oil will go every where, to avoid the earth sinking from melting icebergs, we use salt water to cool the magma down
When Smithsonian adds the word 'large' before 'supervolcano' you know we're just an inch to being doomed.
lava comes out my arse after chilli.
Patrick Saylor ...
lol ur pfp makes ur comment all the more better.
Patrick Saylor I
*Ass*
Yellowstone is the world's ass
For anyone worrying about the predicted eruption time. We only have 3 volcanic eruptions to go off of, so the actual predicted time for when the volcano is supposed to erupt is unknown as of yet. It could've been that the last 3 volcanic eruptions were anomalies and just erupted quick compared to its average or anything really, we just don't know since we're basing it off of its 3 past eruptions.
Yellowstone erupting is probably gonna be the grand finale of 2020.
WRONG it's now 2021
Just when we are aghast at Yellowstone doing its thing, remind us about how Crater Lake was once upon a Time 12,000+ foot volcano Mount Mazama.
That disappeared off the face of the Earth.
For what its worth, I just got back from the park yesterday and all of the geysers were as clear, white and as beautiful as I remember them 20 years ago. I'd be much more concerned with rising ocean levels and an ICBM launch from North Korea, they pose much more realistic threats in the next 10 years, let alone 10,000.
swisskristin12 It super volcano. When it go, it will worst.
swisskristin12 We’re actually due an eruption anytime now, which I think is much more concerning than North Korea’s empty threats or the ocean levels which are already being studied and improved by others.
swisskristin12 LOL then you don’t know anything about NPK or their lack of nuclear capabilities.
God i hope North Korea launches a nuke at the US. I can't wait to fill those communist motherfuckers full of lead.
Well... if this actually erupts as large as it's done before, we might be in for a mini ice age which means a refreeze of the poles and sea levels receding.
Curious if theres anybody anywhere working on some imaginative way of minimizing this?
omegapointil Elon musk probably
Get Michael Bay on the line.... on second thought, maybe not. We *really* don't need any more disaster movies at the moment
NASA is actually working on it. No space shuttles, so why not.
If Taal Lake water level suddenly goes down or starts to boil there maybe a catastrophic explosion because entire lake is the caldera of a supervolcano.
Its not a supervolcano. Your not even a scientist so you dont understand
Thats all rumors
its a supervolcano "millions of years ago" actually.. but now the magma chamber is not that enormous now I think..
i once got in an argument with a USGS scientist on Twitter about when the next yellowstone eruption will be, i said its overdue & could happen any moment, he said it could be 100s of thousands of years, then he said ok, we could both be right
Nature’s fury

Speaks to us
With a mellow tone
Her wrathful force
Has no remorse
you people need to stop being so negative I want to see this blow up in my life time
The world would end if it erupts you want that
Wayne Gafford literally 😂
It wouldn't cause a mass extinction event. The closest comparison to a powerful eruption would probably be a large asteroid impact, but the effects of eruptions don't last nearly as long. Anyone in the blast/hot ash radius would die yeah, and nearly the entire country would be covered in some amount of cool ash, but it wouldn't black out the sun for months or anything. It already had 3 known eruptions and none caused extinction events.
You'll need a lot of lifetime
another mass extinction. It's a mass extinction to evry living animals in our planet. Making our planet dead for a hundred thousand years.
I love how it says “it’s brighter here!” At the end
The one thing not to worry about is the fact that if an eruption happens soon when the magma isn't liquified, it could be a super small one.
This is why trump should build a wall he should build a wall in the valcano
Rob Rob Genius.
Rob Rob pure genius.
you sir are a genius.
The magma isnt the problem the ash would be
Vintage Kyrie Smirving 11' Then a roof lol
This is the last thing we need right now
I'll just move to Hawaii.
Patrick Sherwood Not the smartest move.
Patrick Sherwood yeah that’s smart
Looks like nobody's getting the joke. 😆
