Great video. However you can't use stats alone. Gabriel is an ELITE defender of the 6 yard box, Saliba is better defending open space (due to his incredible recovery speed). Gabriel is more of an ariel threat due to a better vertical leap but Saliba is better in tight spaces as he as better first touch and quicker feet. Together they are amazing, but the quality of defence is also due to the team shape, Arteta has set the team up to squeeze space in the opposition half, as a result they're compact and never facing 1 v 1 dribblers in the way a late-stage Wenger team did.
Debate? Gabby has been our best defender for the last few years, the stats will back this dominance. The reason Arteta would have dropped Gabby if you are unsure was to finally fix that happy of diving in and taming that habit. It is like that kid that wants to go near the cooker when the pot is boiling and you smack them on the hand, now they associate it with pain and won't go near the cooker, a lesson needed to save them from themselves. Now Arsenal can defend box entries with 10 men without sticking a rash foot in and shadow defend well with patience.
I used stats to show he performed better in the previous season. The stats show output in performance. It's easy to compare strikers e.g. amount of goals they score? But how about defenders? Hence, you need to go into these figures, especially when they are almost as good as each other.

Good analysis and good point on stats, stats are limited in that sense. A lot to consider as a unit they are a formidable force.
Stats are facts however i dont like either player is the same without the other...like you said they go together, theres no fish without chips :D
