I'm 25 i know who she is emma, prosperity, tugboat annie, reducing, min and bill which she won the best actress oscar and her most popular film dinner at eight, hollywood's #1 box office draw in the early 30s
A fine video on one of the greatest vaudeville and silent film stars. Hadn't realized that she remained very popular to the end of her life in the early 30s.
Bless Marie for aiding black travellers, who could not stay at white premises where they worked or performed - even had to know safe spots to bunk down. This 🇨🇦 Canadian is proud of her.
This Doc mentions that Marie Dressler helped a young Mack Sennett but fails to mention she told Senette to talk to her lawyer up in Boston about introducing him to some producers. the lawyer's name was Calvin Coolidge.
Marie also served Marilyn Monroe as a strong example. MM, asked how she saw her later career (tragicay lost to us), talked of becoming a character actress "like Marie Dressler."
Great actress, however first of all, so called "Marie Dressler" wasn't her real name. There was nothing wrong with his actual birth name, Leila Marie Koerber. Most likely the change was made as the result of a greedy Studio or Business Manager, with perceived notions of greater recognition accompanied with monetary gains? In reality, it's also shows blatant disrespect for one's parents & their family heritage, just to possibly obtain (not earn) a greater buck?! The ONLY reason a name change should be done, is for a woman when she gets married. If a woman gets married and DOESN'T change her name, then she doesn't accept the sanctity of marriage or respect for her husband.
So talented.,love her movies
More people need to know about her. She was really something !
You bet she was!

A star, a queen, an oscar winner, hollywood's #1 box office draw in the early 30s, an icon

It was a joy discovering this talented funny lady.

Wonderful actress, a real beauty, no matter her age!
She was an amazing actress. I love her movies.
Why is there no organization of any of the photos in any of your videos? Do you just throw them up when you find them%?
Ive been to her crypt in forest lawn cemetery and took her flowers
Love her
Funny that the 1st four Best Actress Oscar winners were Canadian. Gaynor, Pickford, Dressler and Shearer.
Gaynor? Since when is Philadelphia in Canada?
Right you are! I got some bad info! I'll go holler at my staff after the holidays..@@akrenwinkle
'Documentary'? Just her Wikipedia page read aloud with a few re-shuffled pics.
Worse, it's read by a computerised voice.
100% . Great observation
My movie book says the same month and day but 1869 not 1868 which is right ?

That is not Marie Dressler with an Oscar! That is Norma Shearer with her Oscar for Best Actress winner for The Divorcee!!

Your views do not enjoy wide popularity any more.
Back when film stars had personalities, as opposed to the marshmallows we have today.
Dressler deserved better than this poor excuse.
Can’t stand the robotic narration.
They were all dudes
