  • In this video we discuss the Buried Hide Element of AKC Scentwork. I go into what I have observed as a judge at several events and the causes for frustration and struggles of competitors with this element as well as how to correct it.

No, we actually have a few venues we are looking at in florida. I also have a good friend establishing a business in florida as well and plan on doing stuff with him. Just stay tuned. We have lots of good stuff coming scentwork, obedience, travel, reviews, fitness.

I am also planning on attending a few cpe events for my new dog that is featured in these videos. So if during those events anyone wants to do a private lesson that week let me know.

Can you please offer an option for a yearly subscription? Monthly payments are not always ideal!

Unfortunately, UA-cam has it set up for monthly only. I am however looking at upgrading the website in the future to allow for the purchase of individual videos or a yearly subscription.

where did you get your containers and grates?

I get my containers and grates in the nosework in a box it. We covered it in episode 3 of creating a scentwork champion and did a stand alone video of it as well. The link is in the description.

If you properly use markers then shouldn’t the release (yes) be enough to tell them that “hey, what I am currently doing is what he’s rewarding”. not saying consistently reward not from source but training isn’t trial. If you train properly it isn’t detrimental to release and not pay at source during trials. (Bomb dog handler that rewards not at source all the time but have a dog that focuses on source)

@@nikb1996 I go into further detail in the membership section. We train differently than we trial. This video addresses a lot of issues I see as a judge and why people struggle with buried hides. "yes" is that promise to pay. The marker does make it clear for the dog, but the dog will only do something because they want to. It's like us, how long would you work a job without a paycheck. So, in training with my dog which is a toy reward tug we will tug at source or reward at source along with using verbal and touch to continue to build value to the game. Our goal is to keep our dog at an 8-search intensity wise. When we trail let's take the akc master level for example. There are 16 containers, and we have four hides for example. In a trial that time is an issue I won't be rewarding at every hide. It eats up the clock and I know by training the way I have trained I can use "verbal" to bring my dogs search intensity back up, or to get them to check out another area. I also send them off to the next hide. When I call finish on the last hide, I would reward my dog.

$6.99 a month isn't a lot its cheaper than starbucks and now that we are launching a prototype and giving members first look as well as how to train using a system that will take your game to the next level its easily the most affordable and greatest nosework system on the market.

While we talk about the buried we go into detail on how we introduce the juried element to bring confidence and clarity in our handler teams. With almost 30 years experience in detection training, handling and certifying professional teams as well as being a judge in multiple organizations I have an insight into detection for sure. We have a saying for those that train with us. Train don’t complain! Too many times people blame a NQ run on others. You might like what you see.
