Effortlessly cool suave off-beat drumming, with a 3 piece kit. Unbelievable. Reni could’ve entertained a whole audience in concert with his rhythmic art
Brownie could never sing but it didn't matter. What a band, a once in a lifetime for me - never will a band play music that suits my age at the time so well ever again - to be 18 when this came out was heaven and it was brief, shining period of life that I'll never forget.
So jealous of you mate. Wish I was born around the same time as you, had such a great era coming up in the 90's also. Atleast I had the Arctic Monkey's, generation after have nothing except wanky grime, poor sods
@@glennoconnor1130 Rock and rolls coming up again ma man, I'm from Glasgow and I go to king tut's a lot, and its all rock'n'roll. Every up and coming sound goes through king tut's I'm telling you there's change coming
@@innatebubble121 listen to “I’m scum” by the Idles. There is a lot of that going on, there’s also quite a lot of new indie stuff floating about that’s really really unique
I remember driving to a band gig back in 1990 with our guitar player. Orange County to Fresno. We listened to this album the whole way up, wondering "why the fuck can't we sound like this?"
I never get tired of watching this. I read they did 2 takes of this - one with Reni with his hat off. I'd love to see video of that. I wonder if it survived and will ever come to light... I can dream!
The most complete band since joy division and the jam, pity they couldn't get their act together tbh , what a time it was to be young, what a aoundtra k we had And still have
I only recently discovered this band having been busy during their reign (I'm 63). I have discovered the drummers name, 'Reni' (Wren) He is such an influential part of this band with his clever off beat drumming and I love his look (hat) that Madchester style that he created. I also love the melodies of this band and the lead guitarist playing style and with a wah wah now. I am a guitarist myself having been in bands in my younger days and currently in a guitar duo. I would love to have been part of this 'scene' back in the day, I 'lived close to Manchester but not close enough.
uma banda com o Stone Roses acontece uma vez a cada 200 anos, quatro jovens músicos no auge de sua criatividade e nunca é demais comentar: que baterista incrível...
I'm so bitter i couldn't see their comeback gigs, and neither at this period, I'd say I prefer this old-school casual Roses to anything more recent. Much more dynamic and relatable as well.
Does anyone know what kinda bass mani is playing? Is this some Frankenstein of a Rickenbacker 330 body and a Rickenbacker 4003 neck that they put together themselves or is this a type of bass I can buy in a store? Asking for a friend, the friend is me.
Dan Faitz Rickenbacker 4005. Extremely rare model from the late 60’s/early 70’s. They fetch thousands on the vintage market nowadays, despite not being all that versatile (although Mani certainly got a great sound out of his!)
James Highland nah I think he was a friend of the band's and Ian brown's, he worked John squire's effect's and loved the vibe. it's ages since I've seen it but I'm pretty sure you can see him doing the same at the Blackpool empress ballroom gigs.
I know it's all subjective, personal preference, but imho Reni is infinitely cooler. Seems to me like IB trys to act cool, but Reni just is. IB seems quite brash to me, Reni more humble, kind & naturally gifted. Just my thoughts on the matter!

Yeah, Reni carries. Natural born rockstar.
Surreal.
He has a Keith Moon quality to him
There’s no words to describe Reni, he’s the best drummer ever!
So right!
RENI'S A GENIUS - SO UNDERRATED!
Carlos Lima one of the most famous drummers of all time, is underrated? 😂👍🤔
yes-few people know him. how accomplished he is.
Always liked his playing. Lead singer sounds flat live most of the time live though.
He's one of the most famous drummers around Manchester, people in America dunno who the stone roses are never mind Reni
I want a Reni hat!!!

I think the saying goes “perfection is imperfection” same with Ian from joy division he could t sing a note but man he had passion

I like how nobody talks about that guy behind the amps having the best day of his life just by dancing to music not made to be danced on
Cressa is like stone roses answer to bez 😂

John Squire is a fantastic guitar player, but Mani is right the sum of four of them adds up to a whole lot more!!
Thanks for posting.
Oh man, Stone Roses, Catherine Wheel and Cocteau Twins were my high school anthems. Love them!
Reni’s drumming is perfection
I miss these days
My dads favrioute song ever
Fucking amazing boys and how young they all look, and damn even Cressa's there ! and RIP Tony Wilson
So effortlessly fluid and showing such craftsmanship in the outro especially. Gentle and powerful. Absolute miles ahead of anyone else musically.
Squire and reni gift from the gods!!
2:30 onwards chills down the spine

A Joy To Watch. Reni is perpetual motion.
You got it spot on👌 Perfect way to describe him; perpetual motion. And a beautiful thoughtful funny human being 😊
Beautiful song

There are some guitar riffs that are timeless and male me wish I could play guitar ! Great performance on key and effortless
reni's truely a genius!!!
so underrated!!!
Everything sounds amazing the vocal the bass the guitar the drums especially. Magic what a band
A moment in time effortless...coolist band ever

Off beat, Rhythmic, 3 piece kit. Mastery, style, genius.

Go on Cressa!
After listening to Gallagher&Squire, I had to go back to the real thing.
This performance still gives me goosebumps of euphoria. Sublime stuff.
Perfection
All of them are sooooo cute!!! I think their sound and groove is mainly made of Reni`s drumm play.
The Roses were a big part of this U.S. fan's life....still are.
fantastic.
Reni is magic
Madchester..remember it very well ..welcome to God's greatest city ..

nice try!
THEY should have been the biggest band of the '90s an they almost were. Funny how fate turns out.
Poor decision making and crucially left their second album way to late.
What a tune........
Whoever disliked this video is not a fan of music.
God, that guitar tone.
Cressa is the man 😃
great song and clip watch it loads 2.16 reni giving his drum kit what for class.
Excellent the Stone Roses. ..oh...how is hard to satisfy English puritan taste...one sentence of this TV journalist says all

I can't stop looking at Reni, he's just amazing.
Does anyone know what he did when he left the band?
The regular description now for gifted music idols is "underrated'.
awesome
Cressa looked so sad when the music stopped, heartbreaking
Manchester Lemon!!!
