Thank you brother I appreciate this, I've checked out a bunch of your videos as well, great work! I guess UA-cam is really pushing small creators out here, which is refreshing.
This was so refreshing, for anyone who was sitting on the fence on whether to pursue photography, this gives a realistic feel of whats possible. Than you so much Norman. Wishing you a great year ahead
Thank Norman you have restored my faith in pursuing my passion of photography. I'm in NYC and definitely felt I needed to move or make "better" connections man wish you continued and even more success and blessing man
Thank you brother that's dope, I always hear there's so much opportunity out in the city but I sometimes wonder if there's just so many people that it seems overwhelming for creators to fully dive in.
Love the transparency subbed! you motivated me to do this as a beginner after seeing other people's videos especially as a person who lives in a small place
@@millerrd0725 I think it’s an amazing time to be a photographer and it’s truly because of the social media boom… I tell ppl we may not have the beautiful palm trees and year round good weather but there’s ppl in every state that want family portraits, who are getting married, who have birthday and milestones that need capturing…. let’s work!
I love that you went nearly straight into it and saying every day including the zeros and breaking down that total, I'm studying photography and I hope one day I can earn enough from it and maybe travel the world while doing it
Thank you so much for sharing! This gives me hope! I'm originally from Maine but I moved to San Francisco to go after the rich techies 😂 I definitely felt like I had to move to make good money, but I also wanted to.
Greatly appreciate your transparency. I def felt moving would be better fit me living in New Orleans. But I said before I do I want to make the most out of it and just structure my prices and packages a bit better
Just came across your channel and you got a new sub! Thank you for the great videos. From New Haven county here, trying to branch out into lifestyle and pet photography to supplement my main income.
@@NormanOatesSocial media yeah, organic to start then paid ads if I can swing that. Also word of mouth with some of my family to get a few first clients too (they get quarterly family portraits, etc). Keep churning out the great content 🫡👍
Absoltely it’s not easy but more than possible, one things for sure there are ppl who have wedding, birthday, sweet 16s etc in RI… We just have to get in front of them, the business is out there for sure
I'd be happy making $2000 monthly from photography! I just started my solo photography business. I really need to put myself out there! Any tips on getting clients? Thanks for sharing! I subbed 👍🏻
this motivated me because ive been full time for 8 months and I left a good job. the first two months were tough but it slowly picked up. I charge 250 for studio sessions as well but 50-65 of that goes to the studio owner so now im feeling like I need my own studio or I need to charge more. what do you think?
I think charing more is the way to go first if you're looking to make more money as a studio too early in your career can be a huge overhead and extra worry, I would get a solid footing first then open your own studio
Norman. I appreciate your video. Being in a larger market is a doube-edge sword - more opportunity also equates to more competition (in general). I recently retired from my many decades IT career to do commercial photography and am entering my 4th year. While not at your numbers, I've done well leaveraging my technical and business background. Where I struggle is marketing. Perhaps you'll cover that in a future video as well?? Keep up the great work. $600/hr???? Sheesh.....😢
Yea I realized after I recorded the whole video that my quarter inch cable was faulty. I tried my best to clean it up but I wasn't about to re record this while video, better luck for me next week lol
@@NormanOates Yes I have thought of moving also. I do video mainly contract(weddings) and other events. I've not quite stepped out on my own yet I'll need to get a system going. Do you consult for that?
I love finding more creator like myself on the Full Time Creator UA-cam style
Glad you commented now I can check out your content too. Yall videos are clutch for a photographer like myself trying to evolve on the business side!

thank you I appreciate you listening
Please keep creating content I think you are an amazing example of an entrepreneur!
thank you brother I appreciate this
This is very important because ppl think photography is deed . When it’s actually increasing especially in the day and age of content creation.

The inclusion of “we” is commendable, people who are assets appreciate being acknowledged.
this is true for sure.

Can you do a video on how to use pixie set . And do you recommend Square space ?
sure I can add that to my list of stuff to do, I use pixies and squarespace for my host website.

awesome, I will definitely touch on marketing in a upcoming video for you
I'm out here struggling to charge bands $50 for pictures of their live sets :D
What is your advice on closing inquires? Many people are interested but how do I get to that agreement and finalization with them?
What's their objection or are they actually agreeing then ghosting you?
@@NormanOates Agreeing then ghosting most commonly, or no response after asking the price
What do you use to track your income?
I use a simple excel speadsheet, but I use square to send invoices and it gives me reports as well.
Im in CT too brodie
really nice video but the voice is kinda robotic you can improve that next time maybe
