One thing I liked about this game was the attention to graphic detail and the gameplay is Faster. Haggar is noticeably more agile with a quicker response time
Really fun run to watch, from the perspective of someone who has no skills for beat 'em ups and never played this game. You manage the enemies really well, especially for expert difficulty, and it doesn't actually look like a boring slugfest full of desperate button mashing. I can actually see the strategy in how you force enemies to move and only use the better moves for damage and crowd control in the various situations, which is neat! Edit: Also I don't know why Capcom likes Andre the Giant this much they're not even French, but it's amazing how many Andre the Giants there are in this and I'm extra entertained with that.
Beautiful looking game! Truly arcade quality in the looks department. Shame they didn't take full advantage of the SNES' six buttons and add lots of new moves, but I suspect this was a lower tier release for Capcom. Still, it plays better than most of the scrollers on the SNES, I just wish there was a little more to it.
I don't think there is any way of bettering this time by much as there's such a lack of moves in this game and no glitching techniques like in SOR (grab the boss knee, knee, turn, knee, knee etc).I might do a TAS in the future but it would be pointless doing Haggar as he's already been done and I don't think that time can be beat.
Really great technique. I see in the comments you mentioned damage reduction on expert difficulty which is also informative. I'm surprised that reverse splash still acts as such a good control tool.
+Toomnyusernae I later found out from MURPHAGATOR that all playable character's damage output's ARE reduced on Expert; as a result, they all do almost roughly half of the normal damage they would do on easy mode. The range of Haggar's suplex makes it hard for grouping and stacking based on my experience on attempting it, but that doesn't mean you can still try to group enemies.
There are times I notice that my attack strings are slowed down when they hit overlapping enemies. It then throws off that Cody exploit but it's neat that it is still in the game. I just dug it up to replay and I have a different perspective on how to perform better. I've been making a series called Beat'em up Dissection where I try to briefly pick the game mechanics apart. I'll be adding Final Fight 2 as episode 11.1 within the week if you're interested. I've been capturing screenshots to do some damage comparisons. I'm sure you already figured out Haggar's headbutts are the way to go. It's sort of disheartening to know that the mighty piledriver isn't so good especially when the real ending is on the Expert difficulty. One question. Does Carlos have any special traits? I know Maki gets a 5 hit string and a wall jump kick and Haggar gets more throws and walking grapple but Carlos sure feels average. Maybe that's his purpose in the game though.
What you're experiencing is hitstops; that tends to happen when most often when attacking 2 or 3 enemies; its mostly used as a limiter to limit the amount of inputs. Another reason may also have to do with frame storage, since a lot of frames are occurring between button inputs, movements, etc. As for Carlos, he's meant to be average since Haggar is the strongest and Maki is the fastest; his main draw is his DPS during his infinite, which is the fastest of the three.
Well. That final boss was kind of a let-down Everything else, Awesome. This game probably had some of the more interesting bosses. I remember my biggest obstacle in this game came from the inside of the fortress (third section of the final stage) where Jony and Atlas clones show up in groups. The last Andore had about as much health as the second boss I think.
MisterMG101 Yeah, Retu is probably the easiest final boss in the Final Fight series but his AI can change on the fly from being passive to aggressive. The first part of 6-3 is what I call "Blockers Hall" and its because of the Jony's and Atlas's and I name it as such; Their very hard for Haggar to shift since the first punch Haggar throws doesn't have great hit stun and they can block the rest if their AI decides to do so. I'm glad you like the run; if I was to do a this again in the future, with the strats I've found, it should cut the time a great deal. One of the problems with expert mode, (and I suspected as much until I learned about the damage formula for this game.) is that most of your attacks will be weakened by either 1/4 or 1/2 of what they normally do on easy or normal; thus most of my Haggar runs have been done on easy mode for max damage.
Retu was quite a lumbering and slow boss. They obviously just used the Won Won template and added a few new moves, but he's not very interesting. In fact the AI for most of the bosses is pretty dull. Retu should have been a lighting fast ninja type, like maybe a Guy clone with some new moves.
the bosses in this final fight game are HUGE ass fuck compared to haggar. But in wikipedia the height every of the bosses i smaler than Haggar. What a fucking logic
Grab enemy then press the jump button followed by the attack button. It has to be done before or at the height of the jump and it can also be done jumping forward or backward.
0:33 - Looks like Chun Li in the Background? Isn't it? I guess, yes!

I love 2 see a Carlos and Haggar tas for this on expert 2p
Haggar vs Max from sor2 would be like jesse ventura vs batista. I think Haggar would own Max.

Rolento on the other hand...... Took forever to beat.

0:30 Is that an opponent, who is eating right next to Chun Li, from what Ryu fought back in 1987?
And at 11:11 Guile is in the hangar
Did Capcom mess up the AI on that last boss? lol
You didnt change the option to Expert
Wow!! Amazing. Are you still planning on running FF?
You wanna lend a hand, Guile?
51:03 Are you playing on Virtual Console this whole time!?
Yes. As long as its approved emulation, you can use the Virtual Console games for Speedrunning.
That unfortunately occurred when I had to answer the phone. lol As you can see, I was still learning the ropes about recording and editing then.
How did you do Haggar's Spinning Piledriver?
Grab enemy, then press the jump button followed by the attack button.
