I enjoyed this movie so much that I watched it on 5 different occasions (watched solo first, then accompanied my nephew and niece since they kept begging me for it lol, and then with my friends & cousins) and i still never got bored of it. I enjoyed every second of the movie being a big Mario fan (and Bomberman) myself. The movie was such a treat

I like how in the original movie they used orchestral music to bring callbacks to classic Mario games, while here it’s the classical music to give you back the nostalgia.
Except they also used Take on Me. Sure they were 80’s songs as Mario was made in the 80’s but they should’ve left that kind of music in the human world

The directors are the creators of Teen Titans Go!, and the writer is the same folk who wrote Minions 2, yet they did a better job at understanding the source material than an 100-year-old company known worldwide.
I wouldn't say saving it. Sonic kinda proved video game movies could be good. Mario went on to support the claim with HARD evidence. Both go hard and we need a smashverse now.

Peach is the "strong girlboss" trope done right. she is never a dick, she is never unlikable. Since in the movie universe she was an orphan that had to be raised by toads and learn everything herself, she is much more responsible than her game counterpart (who had parents although nowadays they are rarely mentioned). She wasn't BORN a princess she was CHOSEN as one and she is happy to teach mario and accepts toad's help too. She's the same kind peach from the games, just much more skilled and in a leadership position. reminds me of her paper mario series versions.
She needs saving but can hold her own, that is the best she could have been. She could be the best person ever who can't do wrong who doesn't mario but she isn't she makes mistakes, and needs mario.

I just got back from seeing this, and my main thought was "how are they gonna portray the Mario universe?". For as quirky and fun as this movie truly was, I was really excited to see how well they integrated some element of most of the Mario franchise games into the movie’s storyline, plot, and visuals. Many were obvious, many felt like easter eggs, all of it was fun. It was very tastefully done. I was pleasantly surprised with this movie, and I'll definitely see it at least a second time.
As a movie theater employee, you basically have recapped the entire movie in a nutshell. Just to throw it out, the animation at 1:50 was really well made, well done!

Ok, I just love the fact, that you used music from across every mario series there is no matter when it was released, from NSMB over SMW to the newer Superstar Saga titles to Galaxy and even Mario Kart, it's just so amazing to hear Mario Themes from all around the franchise
The diference between this Princess Peach and the modern strong female character is that she actually likes and respects Mario and values his presence. There's an actual scene where Peach is amazed at Mario, she's all like "You were amazing out there!", being both encouraging and amazed at him. You think Disney would do something like that? Nah. I don't think they would.
In their films, Disney has dropped that ball hard....... but in their animated series they have been KILLING it with characters like Mabel, Webby, Wendy, Anne Boonchoy, Sasha Waybright, Marcy Wu, Luz Noeceda, Amity Blight, Eda Clawthorne, Libbey, and Molly McGee. Like some of the best Disney animated Shows of the last decade have starred extremely amazingly written female characters with personalities and flaws and strengths and it's lead to some of the best animated shows since Avatar: The Last Airbender in my opinion

It's barely a step in the right direction. It would have been a nice moment if Peach had said she lost count of how many times she tried before she got through the obstacle course. And if you think it would be missing on comedy, replace it with a moment where Peach actually considers marrying bowser (just to end the conflict) of course, denying even considering such a thing when called out on it. That would have been a funny scene, but modern Hollywood can't do *anything* at the expense of a woman. Just the fact that mario is the main character and you literally cannot change that kinda forced their hand into making Peach have to step aside at some point.

all he did was import the DS model into blender, he didnt make it.

The diference between this Princess Peach and the modern strong female character is that she actually likes and respects Mario and values his presence.
There's an actual scene where Peach is amazed at Mario, she's all like "You were amazing out there!", being both encouraging and amazed at him. You think Disney would do something like that? Nah. I don't think they would.
In their films, Disney has dropped that ball hard....... but in their animated series they have been KILLING it with characters like Mabel, Webby, Wendy, Anne Boonchoy, Sasha Waybright, Marcy Wu, Luz Noeceda, Amity Blight, Eda Clawthorne, Libbey, and Molly McGee. Like some of the best Disney animated Shows of the last decade have starred extremely amazingly written female characters with personalities and flaws and strengths and it's lead to some of the best animated shows since Avatar: The Last Airbender in my opinion

It's barely a step in the right direction. It would have been a nice moment if Peach had said she lost count of how many times she tried before she got through the obstacle course.
And if you think it would be missing on comedy, replace it with a moment where Peach actually considers marrying bowser (just to end the conflict) of course, denying even considering such a thing when called out on it. That would have been a funny scene, but modern Hollywood can't do *anything* at the expense of a woman.
Just the fact that mario is the main character and you literally cannot change that kinda forced their hand into making Peach have to step aside at some point.
