I have a 338-06 built by Iver Henricksen on a '98 Mauser action. Henricksen preferred Buhmiller barrels and would select the best ones from groups of barrels that Buhmlller sent to him.
Dave I too have a 338-06 built on a M1917 Winchester action great hunting rig I used 210 partitions mainly. at a little gunshow I was a vendor at , in Whitehall Montana I found a box of early 250 Gr. swift A-frames bullets looking forward to the day I load those up , but I digrest i'am pretty sure my rifle came from Henricksen also
Can you imagine what this little man from Montana with his big ol guns was thinking as he walked alone into the bush the unknown to hunt down and kill an animal as large as a small car? Jeeezzz they just don't make folks like that anymore. It is a shame he didn't film more of his hunts than he did. Would sure love to have seen that...
Thanks for the research and work to put this together
Our pleasure! Thanks for watching!
I really love the Irish music
Another fantastic video ! Thanks !
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks! I've been looking for more information on John Buhmiller for years!
Glad to help!
The old Enfields are some of the best platforms for making custom magnum builds. Have several M17s and they're awesome.
Yes they are!
Over the years I’ve never read much about the barrel maker except a couple trips to Africa for big game ! This is interesting and good !
Glad you enjoyed it!
What an incredible loss that he didn't write up his knowledge and experiences like many of the other Africa hands did.
Yes, wish he would have documented this stuff. Unfortunately they can't locate any of his 8mm footage either.
Excellent!
Many thanks!
THANKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You are very welcome! Thanks for watching!
Great video on Great man.
Thank you for watching!
Great channel, keep it up 👍💪🇺🇸
Thanks, will do!
WOW!! Amazing stuff

Great video Amazing cartridge/rifle designer. Who would think to put a primer in the case? Too bad information has been lost.
Yes, they need to republish these old timers works so these ideas and info can be passed down!
What a character he must have been, would have been a great person to have interviewed!
Absolutely! I wish we could sit down and chat with him.
Wow this really great
Appreciate that, thank you!
I heard Cape Buffulo is good eating, really good.
It definitely is. Not as lean as bison or other game meat but makes for awesome roasts.
Some of his rifles were sold recently and went to good homes .,the .416 i meant to say .
We've been seeing a lot of stuff from these guys (O'Connor etc...) go up for auction. Cool to see!
This is interesting. I'd never heard of this chap. Teddy Roosevelt & Ernest Hemingway are the only two Americans I knew of who had hunted in Africa.
There were quite a few in those days. We just did segments on Elmer Keith, Jack O’Connor, and a few others who did as well.

Wish they could track down his 8mm film reels. So unfortunate that they were lost
