The scene in Good Will Hunting where we hear this song is one of my favourite scenes.
And, in fact it’s quite simple. They share a good laugh over the apples guy, and then, they just drive around, not saying a word. Morgan and Bill’s eyes towards the sky through the window.
But it just feels so real. Being in a car with your best friends, just driving around, has something so peaceful to it ^^

@@concars1234 I think he was spoilt by a lot of songwriters before him. The man was troubled for a long time until the end. Up until that end he was inspired by many artists and philosophers to make incredible music and lyrics. I find Elliott to be an inspiring man as many others do. But he is not an idol. I doubt he'd want to be seen that way too.

listening to this in my room in the dark with headphones on. usually i dont listen to elliott smith because im worried about how emotional his music can make me, but i heard this song while watching good will hunting with someone and lord its so so so pretty. itll all be okay in the end.

I grew up listening to Elliott, each album, each song on repeat, over and over, for days on end. I was an angsty teenager wishing to disappear and his music helped me see the world differently. Sometimes I couldn’t grasp how his songs made me feel things I’d never felt before. Now, as a happy and fulfilled woman, a mother, I’m as much mesmerized as I was back then, only that the songs resonate a bit differently.
listened to hundreds of albums of all genres possible and I’ll always consider Elliott the best songwriter. Forever.
Feel this all the way. For sure an amazing soul.
And the more you experience in life, the songs make sense more or in whole new ways and hit so much harder. Not one song isn't in a place in my heart

Elliott Smith and Nick Drake are two of my favorite artists, both of them gone before their time. I hope they know how much their music means to me. I feel at rest with the world and my body, even if only for this moment. It is quiet and still. I hope they found peace.
Could you recommend some Nick Drake songs that arent among his most popular songs. The beauty of Elliott Smith is that his most famous songs arent the best in my opinion which im sure is true with Nick Drake as well. I listened to River Man, Northern Sky and Place to Be. To be honest I didnt love those songs. Am I missing something?
@@maturtlelaza some of my lesser known favorites are They're Leaving Me Behind, Tomorrow is a Long Time, Strange Meeting II, All My Trials, Sketch 1, and Milk and Honey :) These are all more low key and have less production input, which I like a lot! There are also a bunch of recordings on youtube that arent on music streaming services so if you like any of the ones I suggested just shoot me another message and I can send them to you, have a great day!
Please check out sibylle baier. It gave me what I wished nick drake could at times, not that I dont love hin. But her album colour green is just incredibly beautiful. Like a holy grail of poetry through music

@@gillianmurdock2091 Thanks for the suggestions. I think it was an acquired sound and I really enjoy his music now. Sketch 1 is amazing. I prefer Elliott's songwriting but as a guitar player Nick Drake is just insane to me. Just finished learning sketch 1.

This was the first time my ears ever head Elliott Smith. Good Will Hunting reached cable in and I watched it. At the end of the movie I was watching the ending credits wondering who wrote those amazing songs? Elliott Smith? Who’s Elliot Smith? So thank you Gus Van Sant.

When I first heard this song, it played from a random mix and I was listening without paying much attention to the lyrics. Even though I instantly fell in love with the tune, I couldn't take a look at the title as I was working on another tab. After a few months I listened to Clementine, and thought this was the song that played back then...although I had my doubts since the tune is almost the same only up to right before the "So, come on, night" part. Finally here I am, as this song plays once again from a random mix of Elliott's songs, making sure to check the title right this time. Only to find out it doesn't really have a name. Just goes to prove sometimes things are simply too beautiful to be assigned a certain name

I like the name “Dying day” for the song because the song talk about it when he says all the time “come on night” it seems to me that he really wants this day to come to an end and when tomorrow come out just as yesterday, I feel like the intention of the verse is to show the depression of the expectable- he saw and felt how the day is slightly dying and he wants it to stop like everyday because the characters day in the song is constantly dying... so I think it would’ve catch the intention of the song for me best.
